Question about the Disneyland Military Park tickets: My husband is an injured Iraq Veteran and was honorably discharged from the Army due to the injuries he sustained. I read on the Disneyland website the 'Eligible Service Members' portion but it says active and retired...since my husband wasn't retired out but honorably discharged due t war related injuries would this mean we aren't eligible to g  More...

However, he will be able to get into Knotts for free plus one other for free, and discounted tickets for 6 starting in November. Always check the website though. It isn't DL, but Knotts is still fun for free. The hotel also does reduced rates.  - Sugarbuzz  335.8 #820 12:47PM
Please thank your husband for his service.  - misschurro  9676.2 #12 1:17PM
Thank you to your husband for his service and to your family for sacrificing for our country❤️💙If he has base privileges I think he can get those tickets at MWR office on base.  - Ilovegoofy  318.5 #920 7:44PM
I don't know if they check for the ID card for active or retired at the gate. I know my SIL just retired, but we couldn't use the MWR tickets when we took the grandkids unless he was present.  - Sugarbuzz  335.8 #820 7:57PM
I was told we could get them on base too. So I was thinking after picking up his new ID card we go down to Pendleton to check out the commissary and see what they have. But I was told you can only use those tickets if the military person is with you. Which in our  case is fine. I have to go to The VA  this week and talk to administration so maybe I'll ask them. - secretagentangel  12853.9 #9 8:10PM
The times that we went, they only checked my hubbys card the first day. If you have a dependent card you can enter with that too. secretagentangel Pendleton most likely will have the tickets.  - sultan  461.6 #545 9:14PM
I would be interested in what happens if a non active/retired veteran does go to MWR and get tickets, and what happens at the gate.  - Sugarbuzz  335.8 #820 9:41PM
We just got is hundred percent. So I'm just learning all this. I'm just happy he's got for dental and medical. That saves me a lot. - secretagentangel  12853.9 #9 9:49PM
Hubs is 100%. There is a huge difference between 99 and 100. Any veteran (honorable) can use the clinics/hospitals. Just a priority list for appts. There isn't a fee each month like paying for regular insurance. Only when used and based on income. The VA sends a bill with the amoun owed, then you send in docs of income. The VA determines cost sharing if any. Being signed up for VA healthcare also meets the requirement for the IRS. I believe spouses can also use VA. Not sure on that since both of us are Veterans. I don't think siblings.  - Sugarbuzz  335.8 #820 7:21AM
Also, CalVet is a great way to purchase a home. We used them. So easy, and some definite benefits. They don't do equity loans, but home improvement loans at the same interest rate of home loan. Also home insurances are low including earthquake.  - Sugarbuzz  335.8 #820 7:24AM

Thanx, I had a feeling on the apprentice's b-day we would have to go to DL to get them. Hopefully we can get them this year. We made it just in time to get the wristbands last year. - Lelundrial  1040.6 #218 3:19PM
I'm not a big peppermint fan, are they really that good that you need a wristband? - Quiweez  1305.6 #158 4:10PM
Fresh candy canes, made by hand the old fashioned way as I believe DL does, are pretty special, and not many places do this anymore. I'm not a huge peppermint fan either, but when I was younger, I worked in a little candy shop that made them on the weekends, and TONS of people would come to watch.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  707.5 #329 4:47PM
i think it's just the whole hand making it right there. which is cool. a few CMs advised to me the ones they have in the shops are exactly the same ones. so if you don't want to hassle with the wristband and lines, those are just as good. i have personally gotten one of the fresh ones and the ones in the shop. no taste difference :) - OhanaPhoto  7095.2 #21 5:31PM
If you can get a piece when it's warm...omg so good.  But I would guess the ones at DL are cooled by the time guests get them - Spoonful_O_Sugar  707.5 #329 6:31PM

Countdown check in!: how many more days until your next Disney vacation? AND what is one thing you are most excited for about your trip?....For us we leave in 34 days for 7 glorious days! One thing I'm most excited for is to be able to spend my 30th birthday in the parks with my family...think it's the best way to celebrate a birthday 😍

25 more days!!!!!!!! I'm super excited to watch my granddaughter experience the magic! Also my mom who hasn't been since 1986, when I was pregnant with my daughter! I think she'll find things have changed a bit! We're going to take a 4 generation Disney photo!  - annierdh  225.0 #1810 7:05PM

I have been many times but never in dec( my job prohibits it but I got brave and asked and was approved) so everything about the holiday there will be amazing. I have lunch reservations at the Biergarten in Germany with a pass to the processional at night and merideth Vieira is the narrator ( one of my favorite people) I have the dessert party booked for the Osborn lights at studios( last year here) we have tickets to the mvmcp at Mk and we have a sleigh ride booked (fort wilderness) for our last night at the resort. We will resort hop on the loop( monorail) to see their decorations and gingerbread houses. We will also head to universal a day to see Grinchmas and the Macy's parade. Question time! We are taking our son on a surprise Disneyland trip in 15 days (it's killing me to keep the secret)! But...question is, he loves both the Goofy Kitchen Character Breakfast and the Character Breakfast inside DL park as well. Which one do you prefer and why? I want to get one booked but am torn on which one to go with for this trip. Thanks!!

I would do it at Plaza Inn since you are there for a short time. Get in the park with your Magic Morning, and book breakfast for maybe 90 minutes or two hours after you get into the park. Have a little something to hold you until then. Get a lot of rides in during those early hours, then you can relax and enjoy breakfast. Be ready with your camera and have an autograph book, as well. Have fun! I'm glad you decided to go for it! - MeridaFan  4684.7 #39 10:24PM

Great suggestions, thank you! I am glad we decided to go for it too. Keeping this secret has been so hard but I know it will make the excitement to go even more by us waiting to tell him. We've even have it all planned out with how we are telling him 😍 - DisneyDreamer18  226.7 #1785 10:27PM
I totally agree with MeridaFan !  Every minute in the park is magical!!!!! - DisneyPrincessT  328.0 #863 10:31PM
I would make the reservation now to make sure they have space. Especially since that weekend will probably be busy. Nice thing is the Magic Morning or Early Entry, is a little later due to the race, I believe. But you won't be able to get in that day without a res in advance. You will have an awesome time!  And since you're at the awesome Grand, when it's hot in The afternoon, you can go back for a swim and regroup before coming back to the park in the evening and catching that new parade and fireworks show!  😍 - MeridaFan  4684.7 #39 11:27PM
It's changed a bit now, goofy kitchen gives you the most as far as food selection but the character here are now mostly of the fab five, inside at the plaza inn the food is limited but you get a bit more of variety of characters  - pikaplaid  7830.6 #17 10:08PM
What about the Grand Californian character breakfast? We haven't done that one before.  - DisneyDreamer18  226.7 #1785 10:09PM
They have more of the vegetarian options there and more fruit you can look at their menu on the website but there characters are more of the forest variety from pocahontas, brother bear, lion king and sometimes jungle book - pikaplaid  7830.6 #17 10:18PM

I hate to be on the opposing team but if it were me, I'd wait and save the and spend it on something fun and spontaneous on your next trip (115 days from now!) For me, hot weather and huge, last days of summer crowds wouldn't make for a fun vacation. I'd take the time to research some really fun and exciting activities and surprises... Plus, you'd probably have some money left over by not having to book new, last minute plane and hotel reservations. You can also spend the money on the new 60th merchandise and treats plus anything for the winter holidays. Congratulations on your bonus! 😻😻😻 - Catski23  34.3 #6082 2:49PM

i wish we could but based on time off work it's the only weekend we can do. We are going to go for it, we go again for 8 days beginning of December so at least whatever we can't do this trip we can do on the next one.  - DisneyDreamer18  226.7 #1785 10:15PM
for me, it would depend on how much i miss Disneyland. i'll take the crowds and heat if i miss it really bad, like now. :'( - OhanaPhoto  7095.2 #21 11:57AM
