They are posted 10pm Pacific Coast Time, which is pretty much usually past my bedtimeπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - misschurro  6367.4 #17 1:21PM
Disney_Pincess02 as misschurro mentioned the time is correct. In regards to hosting, I believe that needs to be approved by Admin. Each host is allotted a certain night, and if they are unable to participate that night, they have the discretion to ask another MWer to fill in. I hope that answers your question.  - RadiatorSprings4Ever  1590.8 #106 1:41PM
Oh, so that would be like 1:00 AM where I am! Nope, sorry! 😐 - Disney_Pincess02  19.5 #7451 1:43PM
Thank you misschurro and RadiatorSprings4Ever! I was never really clear about how the program worked! 😊 - Disney_Pincess02  19.5 #7451 1:45PM
It's run through our groups of hosts, and we update  Admin with who's hosting. The hosts are people who've been on MW at least a year, and people have known them for awhile. We'll give a host a night and the host has to do the post each of their nights or have a replacement for their night if they need one. I text each host and others text me to remind us each day. There's a few other things you have to do and we're always looking for more hosts or stand by hosts (meaning you'll help once in awhile) so if anyone who meets the minimum qualification above, dm me and I'll put your name on the list. It's meant to be a community building post and a goodnight MW for everyone. 😊 - secretagentangel  4716.4 #28 1:53PM

'Ello, my weekend has gotten off to a surprising start. Came home and went upstairs to get my lovebirds for their out of cage time. I find this white thing on the bottom of the cage. Go to look and I am shocked to find an egg there. Cracked as it fell. The reason I was shocked, is because I was told all my birds are boys. Turns out instead of four boys, I have 3 boys and 1 girl. This does explain   More...

They need to make the proper attire rule bigger and list everything that isn't proper attire. - Lelundrial  656.5 #305 8:46AM
That would be impossible. While working at the fun wheel one day a 20ish girl was wearing a one piece romper that was sheer (see through) and completely backless. She had no bra on and you could see through the top. The girl had put a pair of shorts on under the romper but nothing to cover her top. We called security and they came down and talked to her. She complained in line to her friends about what security had told her. Turns out they were waiting for her to get off the wheel so they could escort her to a shop to get her a tee shirt. Bottom line is there is a dress code for a family atmosphere. What one person wears may not be considered appropriate by someone else. Sometimes people cover up to get through the main gate then off comes whatever they're using to hide their skimpy clothing. And, this rule applies to offensive tattoos as well. And you would be surprised how many people get up set when you ask them to watch their language. It's a daunting task LOL  - CM_tamstirr  558.6 #361 12:36PM

Stayed at the Grand once and I don't feel it is worth the price. Any resort hotel guest can use their entrance. Room was nice and clean, but not a place I desire to be at again.

Personally I would book through the DVC side as it's waaaaay less expensive for a studio villa that includes a premium view and taxes/ resort fees are included. Parking is also free however you must park across the street which is no big deal and you're in an exclusive wing of the hotel. There are 2 DVC rental brokers that are EXCELLENT and are fantastic to work with when renting the points. Not sure I'm allowed to post them here but my honey and I use them every year to book the Grand Californian DVC studio villa for 5 days in December. We really wouldn't pay to stay there any other way as other than the location and gorgeous lobby, paying $450+ a night for a pretty basic brown room (which that's really what it is unless you get a suite) just isn't worth it to us. I think the rooms @ DLand hotel are better however the Grand Californian does offer the wonderful convenience of entering DCA from the hotel. This is just my opinion of course but by renting DVC points, you can get the same room, with balcony overlooking the pool or theme park for a fraction of the cost. The only downside is, you can't book for last minute trips. You must book 7 to 11 months in advance.Β  - SKELLIGIRL  54.0 #4621 1:18PM
So you don't have to be a DVC member to do that? - Lelundrial  656.5 #305 1:28PM
We are coming in March I'd like to stay on sight because well it's Disney first of all lol and mainly because I have a knee injury and can't walk much at the park I will be using a cart but paying a lot of money just walking issues seems a bit much but since I haven't stayed at the grand I can't judge that's why I was asking advice, I did notice you mentioned a basic room? Thanks and I don't know what dvc is lol I feel dumb now  - lisaw  159.8 #2571 1:31PM
@@SKELLIGIRLWould you mind dm'ing me the brokers you use?  Thank you! - Moog  94.3 #3677 1:45PM
Lelundrial: Nope! You can just be someone looking to rent points. The way it works is, DVC owners who may not be able to use their points a particular year sell them to a reputable broker so they won't lose money. The broker then rents them out to ppl like us who don't want to be actual DVC owners but renters. They're subject to availability which is why you need to book 7 - 11 months in advance. Especially @ Grand Californian due to the fact that they have a very limited number of DVC rooms compared to the WDW resorts. - SKELLIGIRL  54.0 #4621 1:55PM
lisaw: Sorry. DVC means Disney Vacation Club. The basic room I'm referring to is just their standard room. If you have a knee injury then convenience is a matter of neccessity  which means the Grand makes total sense. I know you'll love it regardless it's just hard for my honey and I to pay full price for a room that we've been spoiled by paying far less when we discovered renting DVC points. I'm certain you'll enjoy it especially since it will be your first time staying there.☺ - SKELLIGIRL  54.0 #4621 2:02PM
Moog: Just sent you the info☺ - SKELLIGIRL  54.0 #4621 2:28PM

We stayed at the Grand once and while it was an amazing experience being right above Soarin' and GRR, I'd only do it again on special occasion. It truly was amazingly convenient to be so close, so much so I can't wait until next time. That and the added guest services perks.  I live in Seattle but have an AP and come down quite often, most trips are stays across the street on Harbor or Katella. - SarahAnne  1.1 #0 12:35AM
If I had to stay onsite I'd pick DL hotel. The pool is better, the room service has more options, plus there's a coffee house, trader sams  and steakhouse 55 for breakfast. The room is cute and quiet. They give tours and games for kids for free. The Grand lobby is beautiful but the rooms are just a standard room you get anywhere, even the upgraded ones don't seem like that much more "Disneyfied". Their pool is nice but I think the rest of the hotel does not match the beauty of the lobby and a few ground areas. Disney's policy on microwaves in the room is that they are not allowed due to a fire hazard and that's hard for me when I need to get up eat and go. Rooms at the Grand can fluctuate between $300 - $700. If you get a convention deal you can get lower cost. But it is a long walk back to the hotels or a wait for monorail. The Grand is a bit of walking inside too. The hotels across from the park are actually closer and some close ones still have shuttles. Candy cane inn has a shuttle though they're close, but remember that the drop off is pretty close to harbor so a hotel right across the street is just as close though you'll have to cart  across one crosswalk. The new courtyard looks amazing and there are a lot of restaurants around the harbor hotels . The majestic has a shuttle but I believe you pay for that and parking and its on the other side of DL so you don't have a lot of close restaurant options. - secretagentangel  4716.4 #28 2:25PM
