A long time ago in a Galaxy far far away was a theme park called Disneyland. In the 1990s Disneyland had a major drop in regualr attendance to Disneyland and only offered one type of pass, a premium pass that was 150 then raised to 200 for only ONE park. Because of the declining attendance and lack of Annual Passholders flocking to the parks, mind you these were the days where the was no Rancho Santa Margarita, Irvine was still pretty much fields, no irvine spectrum, everything north of the 15, 91 was cows and no homes, you get what I'm saying they started to do promos and new pass levels to incite people to get to the parks more and even did such things as nighttime shopping passes during Christmas, then the famous 2fer tickets. Well Disney really thought that opening a second park would really boost attendance and be a big smash hit and we all know how that went for 10 years. They did everything they could to get people to come to the parks and created 99 dollar passes, get in free on your bday, give a day get a day, they had promos all year around esp for the locals to just get people in the door for a mediocre experience. From the time frame of 2000 to 2011 Disneyland opened two new attractions buzzlight year and Nemo which pretty much was a refurb of an old attraction. They actually had closed down restaurants in the parks, there were no major of any of the lands, two new parades no new stage shows, reduction in characters in the park and a new firework show for the 50th that they still use. Then you have DCA over that time frame..What happened over there, nothing at all for the most part, it was the same park that lacked in every possible category and the only entertainment they had was the Aladdin show and some street performers and the only thing that could draw locals was brining back ELP but as soon as that was over they left. .These were the final years for Eisner...Since 2010 here is what we have been given...Carsland, 3 attractions, two shows 5 characters. Buena Vista Street featuring two shows, street characters and the fab 5 and a 4 star dining experience, World of color, The Little Mermaid attraction, 3 atmosphere shows, daily live music at the paradise gardens, a refrub off all the entire area, Redwood creek also got a nice redo and updated to get rid of that Brother Bear movie that nobody has seen and replaced it with a Pixar hit of UP with a stage show....Then lets go over to Disneyland....Since 2010 we have a brand new Star Tours experience, new summer time firework show, Princess Fantasy fair, 6 daily character shows, a new parade that is actually very good, a brand new wonderful stage show Mickeys map, diferent celebrations each month for such things as Greek, Valentines, etc etc (BTW those wont be limited time magic next year they will be part of new traditions). Now that DCA is finally where they want it your going to start hearing about more new things unveiled this summer for Disneyland like the new Tomorowland and other things as well....Pretty much everyone was conditioned to pay a lower price for sub-par product and now you are getting 300% more band for your buck with all of the new things the parks have to offer Well now the parks are at a place where the demand to get in is at an all time high and its both parks. Not only are you locals wanting to come at record numbers but people are traveling from all over the world again to visit the parks because there is something here again that makes people want to visit. For fun and games, go look on the AP website and take the number of visits you have made in a year and divide it by the total price of your Annual pass, its pretty low for a lot of us who go a lot. For instance if I go 100 times a year its about 6.79 dollars a visit., not bad!! I know its not easy for a lot of us continue to get passes as it keeps increasing but you have to take a look at some of what I said. The demand out weighs the supply and increasing prices is the only way to cut back attendance and make your visits more enjoyable while at the same time they can keep coming up with new exciting shows and attractions that keep us coming back year after year and not leaving us with a stale product. I guess we should all be grateful that we live in Southern California and are surrounded by so many other things to do such as enjoy the beaches, the parks we have, the mountains, Knots, Magic Mountain, Sea World, the zoo the banana stand,...Ok I have writer cramp -
