I need some advice on character meals. The next Disney trip is for my brother-in-law's birthday. He enjoys Disney, but has only really been interested since seeing my niece!a enjoyment of it last year. We want to do one or two character meals, but we're trying to figure out what he'd enjoy the most. His ideal character meal would be free, possibly involve rum, and the characters would be Star Wars  More...
Pirates dinner near Medieval Times. It's not Disney or free, but it has pirates and booze. - Mouse4life  1085.3 #78 3:42PM

Someone mentioned Pirate's Dinner Theater - there is a coupon code for buy-one-get-one deals there in my local community mailer. I can send you the code if you want. - FanofGaston  88.1 #3168 4:01PM
It's free if YOU buy his meal. - meridafan  1036.6 #83 4:21PM
Thanks for the thoughts, everyone. We're trying to figure out the best way to pick a meal. Is it what my niece will enjoy the most, so vicarious enjoyment for the rest of us? Is it the best-tasting food? Best characters? Convenience? Lots of stuff to consider! We know there are no free meals with rum, darnit. ;) - Manawalea  9.6 #6889 4:25PM

I'm in the middle of a subtly Disney themed wedding reception. Dinner was just served to the music of Be Our Guest and the bride and I may have been the only ones singing along. Then Hakuna Matata started and my friend and I just gave it. We also happen to be at the same table as the photographer. He says he got some great shots. Whoops! We're at the Tiana and Naveen table. I did give a loud girli  More...

Unless an eagle-eyed kid found it already, I tucked a Chunk keychain behind the sign on a glasses return bin at TSMM. Walked on twice, this morning and the third was about 1 minute wait. My score is still terrible, even with all that practice.

Teeny tiny in-park RAK. I'll be heading to DCA in a bit with a Chunk keychain. I'm probably heading to Soaring' and then World of Color. My shirt is kinda hard to miss and I'll be wearing my glow with the show ears.
Sorry, forgot to mention that I'm on an iPod do I can't update my location. But I think my shirt can be seen from space so that helps. - Manawalea  9.6 #6889 7:26PM

I did the Cultivating The Magic tour today. I thought it was quite a fun tour. It can still use a little tweaking and smoothing, but there were lots of interesting stories and walking on to three attractions. Jungle Cruise and Storybook Land canal boats were narrated by the tour guide. Haunted Mansion was just a bonus! I like the perspective of the Matterhorn blending in with the Storybook Land m  More...

I just saw about the new Cultivating the Magic tour. So excited! I guess I'm not the only one who thought a garden tour of Disney would be awesome. Anyone else thought the same thing? Really, those aeoniums are just so beautiful!

So, say you have a hungry toddler who's going to melt down soon if you don't get a real meal into her. Do you find counter service or preferred seating at table service faster? I know counter service is almost instant food, but do the lines tend to be a lot longer for counter service? Thanks for any helpful input!
I'm really not sure, but if you are hesitating or dithering, just get her a churro or pretzel while you decide, lol. That's what my husband does for me when he spots a meltdown coming! 😂 - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 8:46PM
Haha-that was going to be my suggestion also. Nothing beats a mm pretzels when your in a bind! Always bring little bags of grapes and cheese sticks to go along with it and crisis averted - JNewie  226.4 #1289 8:54PM
LOL mine gets me watermelon or icecream! - Boundin  425.4 #299 8:57PM
Lol, coffee is the number one option, but I wasn't gonna suggest it for a kiddo😂 I usually keep a Luna bar in my purse, but sometimes, I forget. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 9:00PM
Omg SOS your husband sounds just like my bf lol! He see my meltdown coming from a mile away!! Usually even before I do!! I'm like a toddler with over stimulationand hunger!! 😄 I knew I liked you!! 😉 - CourtyAstroBlisters  440.2 #282 9:34PM
Lol! Yeah, we have good men in our lives. 😃 Sometimes, I'm like, "No, I'm fine." And he says, "trust me, you won't be if you don't sit and eat before you get grouchy!" He's always right. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 9:37PM
LMBO this is just like him!! But he says "on no it's definetly time to feed the CourtyMonster!!" makes me smile everytime then I eat and relax and feel much better!! Yup he is the best! We are lucky ladies!! 😃 - CourtyAstroBlisters  440.2 #282 9:46PM
It depends on the time of day and what part of the park you're in. If I needed to get something to eat quickly I often will walk for a bit to find a quick service location with short lines. Based on my experiences the quick service in Toontown, the one at the Princess Fantasy Faire (across from It's a Small World) and the Stagedoor Cafe at the Golden Horseshoe are usually pretty fast. Pizza Port can also be quick but if they don't have enough cashiers it takes forever to pay. We don't eat at DCA enough for me to give any useful info. - BlueberryCrusader  650.7 #161 8:48PM
I used to give him so many snacks in line to keep him busy and he would never complain he's hungry, now he's pickier so its not as easy - MarshaMouse  2871.2 #15 9:36PM
Wait till he hits his teen years. He'll eat anything and everything and even something. My son sure does, and he grows an inch a day I swear. 😁😄😄 - DisneyFanZoe  1096.8 #75 10:09PM
I have to agree with many above- never leave home without a bag full of snacks and treats. Crisis avoided! - MoonWillow  371.9 #373 9:59PM

Hi Disneyworld people! My friend's heading down there tomorrow and has volunteered shopping services. Has anyone seen PookALooz there recently? And I assume grape soda pins are as scarce as at Disneyland. Thanks for your help and have a magical day! ;) Sorry y'all, I was trying to post at the DisneyWorld forum and messed up. I'm probably late to the party, but I just saw this tidbit on doombuggies.com. Haunted Mansion wallpaper anyone? I love that the name of the colour is Ashes of Rose. So, I've quite happily booked my next Disney trip for this summer and more happy to be staying at the Disneyland Hotel for the first time! Also the first time going on my birthday so that should be fun as well. I've tried googling for a trip countdown clock I can put on my iPod, but no luck so far. Anyone have any suggestions for some good ones? I can do a pc desktop one if that's all there is. T  More...
I use "Big Day Lite". It's free and you can change the background which is fun :) - CheshireKatt4  187.3 #1784 6:28PM

Does anyone know if Sulley and Stitch Pook-A-Looz are still available at Disneyland? I saw online that they're all being discontinued (can't believe it! They're so cute!) so I won't be able to get any next summer. Just trying to figure out if it's worth trying the park merchandise number or if I'm going to have to hunt down secondary sources. Thanks!
I would call the merch number. They may still have it in the parks. Last saw the Stitch one in the Emporium, but since its under renovation, I don't know if they still have it - BaseballMickey_CM  2860.3 #16 1:42PM

For CM Appreciation Day: I'd appreciate it if anyone in the parks tomorrow could pass along thanks to the people who sweep the streets and pick up the garbage. Not a glamourous job, but one of my favourite things about Disney is how clean it is. Thanks in advance!

Yes, thank you for the custodial CMs! They make our job a lot better and safer and are always available to help us with anything. We even let them "shop" and look around our store. They were the first line of business that was created by Walt because he wanted to clean DL as clean as possible - BaseballMickey_CM  2860.3 #16 9:11PM
My first memories of Disneyland are how clean the park was and all the people in white cleaning up with their brooms and dust pans. They make the magic sparkle. - rainbowlite  13.5 #5913 9:11PM
