Love and would never replace my Olympuses. Canon is alright. Hate Nikon. Would switch for a Pentax or Sony. It's all personal preference. Definitely try before yiu buy! :)
I personally use a canon t3, I've been shooting for about a year and a half now. I shoot for fun but I've spent more money on lenses, which cost more than the camera body. It's all preference for manufacturer, I would read up a lot before making a decision. - chris.

It depends a lot of what you're wanting to capture. Canon shoots much more vibrant photos straight from camera and usually has sharper high action photos. Nikon on the other hand typically has better low light photos, as lower light action. Sports photographers use Canon, NASA uses Nikon. Personally I shoot Nikon because I do a lot of low light photography, concerts, weddings, etc. but mostly I chose it because it felt good to use. Beyond capabilities get what you'll use. The most expensive/best equipment means nothing if you can't use it or don't love using it :) you can get the same results out of any camera if you learn it and use it. - Lola027
