It's great in the rain, especially at night with all the lights reflecting in the puddles. Best part is no crowds. Riding California screaming in the rain is really fun!! My advice is waterproof boots that go over the bottom of your pants because the water on the ground will start to wick up your pant legs if given the chance

Rainy days are the best! Apparently rain makes Californians afraid to function πŸ˜‚. Get a pancho or 2 per person and take advantage of the shorter lines and ride tons of rides! If you still arent up for rain, maybe try some shows. Have a blast! - Poisen_Ivy  384.0 #664 1:23PM

I'm sorry to hear your husband was not well. Hope he is feeling better now. Rainy days have always been my fave in the parks. Β I put on my waterproof stuff--jacket and boots--and I'm comfy all day. Β Typically, everyone scatters as soon as the rain hits. Β We pretty much go about business as usual, but like to do water rides on rainy days since we're already wearing stuff that will keep us dry and the lines aren't long. Β All the indoor/covered things would be fun and cozy to explore: Great Moments with Lincoln, riding Main St vehicles, Animation Building, Frozen play, Mickey and the Magical Map, the fun little Fantasyland shows (Tangled and Beauty and the Beast), etc. Β You could also plan to take the monorail to DTD to watch a movie if you find the rain is difficult to navigate. Β Maybe it is also a good idea to make ressies for indoor dining (ex: Cafe Orleans or Carnation) so that you have peace of mind and don't have to worry about trying to eat comfortably. Β In my limited experience, it tends to not steadily rain for very long, but things don't drain well, so puddles form quickly. Β I think the right footwear is most important because it can be easy to step in one and if you're just wearing a sneaker, your foot is soaked for a good few hours. It's going to look really out of place in that location with the trolley out front. I wonder if they are getting rid of the trolley too

I personally love the HTH. The whole theme and music is so warm and relaxing, which is a contrast to the actual ride experience. It's not like it isn't popular. The lines were always well over an hour when the parks were busy. I realize the ride itself will be about the same. The whole experience and the feeling I get is what makes me enjoy it the most. I will ride the new Guardians themed attraction because at least I don't expect to see Olaf in there.  - grumpypapa  11393.1 #10 6:41PM

I'm sure that the revamp will be great, I just hope that DL doesn't lose the balance between huge sci-fi blockbuster/Marvel stuff and the quirkier, quainter, weirder attractions like TOT. I understand that superhero and space are where the $$$ is at, but we're likely to have two dedicated lands (plus isolated rides elsewhere in the park) for these.  - Pachinko  56.0 #4865 10:01PM

The "big" fireworks are legal where we live, it is pretty awesome to go to the beach and just sit and watch all of them going off.  Our city doesn't have an organized fireworks show, but we don't need one because there will be 50, 000 people on the beach putting their own off. - dianeburns1998  136.4 #3106 9:14PM

Old house still, haven't signed the papers for the new one yet, so it isn't actually ours yet:(  If you want a good spot and one that you can have a decent fire for roasting food, you usually have to stake it out in the afternoon.  Tomorrow we are just going later to watch the "show."  We will park back farther and walk a bit.  Unfortunately, people do not clean up after thrmselves.  Last year tons of trash was cleaned up, and it took over a week.  Gets me angry. The fire department even hands out huge garbage bags to everybody as the drive on the beach but only a few people use them. - dianeburns1998  136.4 #3106 10:05PM
Do you mean the fire department dries on the beach and hands out  garbage bags or people can drive on the beach? There's only one beach I know  in California , though I'm sure there's more, where you can drive on the beach and that was Pizmo beach. And we did it when I was a kid and I thought it was so cool. - secretagentangel  11894.8 #9 10:44PM
@secretagentangel After growing up with California beaches, it was crazy when I moved to Corpus Christi where you drive on the beach, park your truck, and set up your spot for the day.  I had to have friends show me how because I was scared!   There is only one beach with a parking lot! - Thumper13  543.3 #434 11:32PM
I think that's cool Thumper13. Bad thing is our lifeguards ran someone over last year but I stay away from the part they drive on. Nice to have your things right there and not have to walk. And if a tsunami comes, just drive away!πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - secretagentangel  11894.8 #9 11:52PM
secretagentangel, our beach is a "highway" and has speed limit of 25 mph.  It is one of the few beaches along the coast that you can legally drive on.  Every year an RV drives too close to the tide line, during low tide, and they lose their vehicle.   We always have pics of vehicles stuck in the water in our local paper. - dianeburns1998  136.4 #3106 6:21AM
The only fireworks I'll see are if I watch them on the HoJo Webcam. Our area prohibits the use of fireworks and as the Trailhead Fire is still burning and at 4,000 acres already, I'm ok with that rule. My daughter was 4 months old and I was a first time mom. She cried throughout the entire small world ride, I never realized how long that ride was until that day! The baby centers in both parks are very helpful and a great place to escape the heat and crowds with a baby (not small world, lol)

5 months! We had a baby carrier and used that way more than the stroller! It was a blast!  - boomom  833.4 #263 1:31PM
⬆️ same exact... I had a 2yo as well... found quiet spots to nurse discreetly.. used the baby center to change him as well as let my daughter use the toddler potties. I had a soft cooler in the stroller basket for bottles and snacks.Β  - HalfCaff  693.7 #336 1:45PM

I'm not sure if I count since I am an AP but my daughter's first trip was when she was a month old! I love all the pictures from the parks I have when she was little! I would always make use of the baby care center on Main Street. There were a few quiet places I would go and sit when she fell asleep in her stroller like the bottom level of hungry bear quick service (which kind of still exists) or even inside the grand hotel's lobby.  - DizneyDee  40.4 #5623 1:34PM
