Me and the hubby (jungleVIP) are disney addicts! We only make it to the park a couple of times a year, but we take it by storm when we do get to go. I also have a blog about doing Disneyland on a budget: themagicisfree.wordpress.com

Ooooh! I love this!!!! I've won one of your generous RAKs before, so I will try not to monopolize the magic. But I will definitely have to make my way over to your etsy shop to check these out. UTDISNEYFAMILY Please consider your entry null and void. It was winning your generous donation at last year's raffle (insert loud scream) along with our Disney Visa points that helped us toward this year's APs. I have already decided not to return to work full time, so we know this is our last tear with APs for awhile, so we truly treasure the year we have. When my son was six months old, we took him for the first time. We were ap holders, and the trip was really more for us than for him anyway. But we ended up in line behind the sweetest older couple who started discussing the pros and cons of bringing a baby that young to the parks. The husband insisted (somehow without seeming insulting) that it was a waste of time and money since the baby wouldn't remember any of it. The wife, however, said something I'll never forget: "he won't remember the particulars of this trip, but he'll know he had a happy childhood. He'll have pictures that he can look back on as proof of how much his parents loved him, and he'll know that his smiles and giggles at this age were a big deal, as they should be." I don't know why that stuck with me, but I think about it every time someone says a baby shouldn't go to Disneyland.  - LittleAprilShowers  549.6 #305 10:39AM
Also as parents we get to have the memory. It starts as babies that they love Mickey and all disney. I had so much fun experience the joy and excitement my children had the first time they saw Mickey and I wouldn't trade that memory for anything.  - Bassplayerswife  131.6 #2819 10:45AM
We were just telling my son how before he could even say Mickey he called him "Dot dog" (because of the hot dog dance) and would do his dance for him. His reply was "I must've been really cute."πŸ˜‚ - LittleAprilShowers  549.6 #305 10:47AM

If I was coming from out of the area to bring my baby for a quick trip, I might reconsider (or at least admit the trip was for the wife and I). But my youngest is 1 and she loves the parks as much as my other two. Something for everybody! Also, free child is nice and so is a lap child, so the limitations on rides are few.  No matter what, great memories at the end of the day!! - chrismis21  205.3 #1778 12:40PM

I love a good eating tour of Disneyland. Fried chicken is delicious, but white water snacks has a chicken pesto sandwich, which while not necessarily healthy, is still a better alternative. If you're craving something sweet, it might be good to hit up Jamba Juice in dtd. There's lots of ways to trick your mind into being full at that place. Also, keep in mind that with any topping/condiment, etc., you tend to use 3-4 times as much if you pour it on vs. dip it in. For instance: if chocolate covered pineapple is your vice, see if you can get a small side if chocolate sauce and then dip one of the fresh pineapple spears. You cut way back on the amount of carbs you get this way. And while there is no known substitute for Coca Cola, I almost always keep a mio in my purse, because I'm so much more likely to order water if I know I can make it taste like pomegranate lemonade. Look at menus ahead of time (if you even need to) and figure out how much the things you hope you'll eat while you're there will cost. Put that amount on a gift card, and that will force you to say no to the million snack carts you'll pass. And if all else fails, keep some peppermints in your purse. When you start craving whatever disney is pumping through the smellitzer, pop one in. It'll help you decide if you're actually hungry or just being tricked by the mouse. Yeesh, that was a long-winded answer. I'll shut up now. - LittleAprilShowers  549.6 #305 4:03PM
