@Churro They can do this because, firstly, it's their ride as to which they can do what ever they want with. And secondly, they do soft openings for nearly ever attraction at unannounced times to work out kinks and to adjust crowd flow before the big open. The Blog winners and AP previews are kind of lending to that in an organized and announced fashion. And also more or less gives those people a better chance at seeing the attraction before it opens. And for soft openings, anyone that happens to be there get's to attend and it can be closed at any given time without notice. It's a regular thing when it comes to new attractions, at Disney anyway. If you won a spot or two than you just happen to have another chance at seeing the new ride before the official opening day. I'm sure TLM will be getting days like this, too, pretty soon.
