The very first time my youngest son ( he was 5 ) rode TOT we got stuck and he thought it was so awesome. A half an hour later they lowered us down an got us off and moved us over to another elevator. He still brags to everyone that his first time on TOT he got to ride 1 1/2 times. - EdLovesAlvena

They will get to ride it again when they get older. They are putting new cars in for safety reasons, loading more guests which results in better wait times and to make it a smoother ride - Dave

It was in Walt's vision to make a place for children and adults to play together that was ever changing with times. I don't ever see things as a deduction. I understand that some things are hard to see go (I feel this way about many things that are no longer at the parks) but in the end, we need to be appreciative of what is still there - a place to call "home," to laugh and love, a place where fellow MWers can join together and enjoy their love for all things Disney. - EpicDio
