what's is your favorite character meal restaurant? TIA

plaza all the way. We always treated it as a brunch so cost wise not as bad. Lots more characters and ones you don't usually see in the park. Our favourite was fairy godmother. See was amazing and have not seen here in the park just walking around. Also ***if you get the photo pass plus deal you get your picture for free as apart of the photo pass plus deal instead of shelling out again. - disneychef  11.9 #0 11:16AM
Price wise and character selection wise, Minnie's Plaza Inn breakfast. If you are looking for a huge food selection, Goofy's Kitchen. - Lelundrial  656.9 #305 7:59AM
So, to keep track; Plaza for characters, Goofy's for food, and Surf's Up for most entertaining... How about for 3 adult women (mid-20's-early 40's?) We want to have good food, but debating between Plaza Inn & Surf's Up! We'll be there Fri. 12/18; a long ways off, but figure I could use all the planning time I can get with the 60th and the holidays most likely happening at same time. Last year's Fri. for that week had Disneyland Park open at 8am; do they offer earlier breakfast times so we're not rushing in at rope drop? I use an ECV scooter in the parks and am nervous about crowds that day - leave midday after spending the last two days on property W-Th (hopefully with smaller crowds.) TIA! - Catski23  17.3 #7944 1:56AM
Plaza in all the way! I did surf up recently and was disappointed with it food is not as good. The we were sited all the way in a corner, characters you only see 5 and I mainly did it for stich we waited a ling time and not one character would go to ourvtable until I talked to a cm and then still took forever for stitch to stop by out table. I would recomend plaza inn better.   - anaggarciam  510.0 #415 3:09AM
We have done Goofy's Kitchen and Ariel's Grotto.  AG was very disappointing, food was sub bar, you only meet princesses, super long wait, even though we had reservations, even my daughter who is a princess fan was not impressed.  GK was awesome.  Amazing choice and variety of food.  Saw lots of characters.  The characters came to our table and interacted and goofed around with us.  We have decided to go to Goofy again in 5 weeks because we were do impressed with it.  And, since it opens at 7, you can make an early reservation and not miss any Disneyland time. - dianeburns1998  81.3 #3920 6:00AM

Hi all. My family and I are headed to DL in two weeks. I really want my sister to go with us. she's a so cal resident (we are not). Is there anywhere that offers discounted one day DL passes? she can't afford an annual pass. thanks!

They get discounts on 2-3 day tickets (1 park per day). That's your best bet. i think the 2 day is same price as a one day park hopper. They do expire May 21st so check them for when you are coming and make sure there aren't any blackout dates. - DLKenCA  2630.7 #50 11:48AM
I think SoCal residents still get a discount - GoofyMom77  906.0 #202 10:27AM
No discounts on a one day but only on 2 or 3 day. $139 for 2 days - philliprocks  1320.6 #132 11:04AM
so when you get there and you do have So Cal tickets do you have to show Β ID ?Β  - jmza4  323.6 #31532 12:28PM

Probably wishful thinking... does Disneyland do anything for someone battling cancer?

What are you thinking of?  I know Make a Wish families often go to DL.  Beyond that, if you're wondering about maneuvering through the park and the physical toll it can take, there are options, depending on your needs - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 6:43PM
You can go to City Hall and request a Disability Assistance pass.  I'm trying to think of anything else, but I'm not sure.  I know every so often, CMs are able to "work magic" and make special things happen (ex: room upgrade), but those kinds of things are handled more on a case by case basis, not standard practice.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 6:50PM
Sending prayers to you and your family - grumpyinphx  705.8 #274 10:26PM
Oh, nothing specific. My dh has testicular cancer and hes going thru treatment atm. I thought I read that disney world has special buttons for people overcoming difficult boundries. I don't remember what it was called. - Dsc1983  16.3 #8208 9:06PM
Oh ok, I don't know about that, but it's possible! Β You can ask at City Hall. And best wishes to your husband! ✨ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 9:11PM

Is there a reason why disneyland is closing early the week of the Diamond celebration. may 18th - may 20th?

it is like that for several weeks before that,  too.  i haven't been able to find out why.  most people say it is probably in prep for may 22. - MsTikiMermadam  1064.9 #172 12:58PM
Or grad nights... They started early May last year  - brodysmommy  430.9 #509 12:59PM
it sounds almost like it could be media stuff, but I don't really know. Maybe @BaseballMickey_CM  Or @IDVandalSkipperCM Or @MickeyLumboCM Knows - misschurro  6373.0 #17 12:59PM
Its probably to prep for the 22nd. There may be some media or Cast Previews those nights - BaseballMickey_CM  7605.9 #11 3:02PM
I called, a CM said it was for grad nights... maybe it is media night too? it wouldn't seem like 2 nights in a row...I told my husband the kids better be ready to party Friday the 22nd! We're staying as late as ppossible - Dsc1983  16.3 #8208 6:08PM

Hi all! my family and I will be in DL for the diamond celebration on 5/22. I saw you can reserve seating for the 22nd, there weren't many restaurants left to reserve, so it would probably be a good idea to reserve a spot?

I would think so - evilemohand  965.2 #194 9:07AM
Sounds like a great idea. Otherwise, you may be standing in long queues waiting for food that you don't really want, but it is shortest of allΒ πŸ˜‚ have a fabulous time - misschurro  6373.0 #17 9:30AM
Cafe Orleans.  Only spot open was at 810pm. However, I don't think it's enough time to eat and get a spot for night parade.. - Dsc1983  16.3 #8208 10:11AM
The park is open 24hrs that day so I'm sure there will be more than one parade. I bet you will have time  - MrsGrumpy2002  209.2 #1885 10:35AM
Yes, last year there was a parade at midnight and it wasn't even a night parade. I remember 3 parades.  - JenGwen323  2025.6 #77 2:34PM
I would make reservations. As long as you cancel them with more than 24 hours notice it won't cost you anything. Much better than not having anything. **If you don't cancel and don't show up they will charge you $10 per person. - DLKenCA  2630.7 #50 1:38PM

Here is my one year old. He loves Mickey!!! I don't care when people say my kids are too young to go to Dl. It is moments like this that make it worth every penny. This is at Mickeys surfs up breakfast.

When my son was six months old, we took him for the first time. We were ap holders, and the trip was really more for us than for him anyway. But we ended up in line behind the sweetest older couple who started discussing the pros and cons of bringing a baby that young to the parks. The husband insisted (somehow without seeming insulting) that it was a waste of time and money since the baby wouldn't remember any of it. The wife, however, said something I'll never forget: "he won't remember the particulars of this trip, but he'll know he had a happy childhood. He'll have pictures that he can look back on as proof of how much his parents loved him, and he'll know that his smiles and giggles at this age were a big deal, as they should be." I don't know why that stuck with me, but I think about it every time someone says a baby shouldn't go to Disneyland.  - LittleAprilShowers  587.1 #345 10:39AM
Also as parents we get to have the memory. It starts as babies that they love Mickey and all disney. I had so much fun experience the joy and excitement my children had the first time they saw Mickey and I wouldn't trade that memory for anything.  - Bassplayerswife  499.7 #428 10:45AM
We were just telling my son how before he could even say Mickey he called him "Dot dog" (because of the hot dog dance) and would do his dance for him. His reply was "I must've been really cute."πŸ˜‚ - LittleAprilShowers  587.1 #345 10:47AM

Aww! Brought a tear to my eyes this is so cute!!! - ILuvSleepingBeauty  235.6 #1530 10:11AM
If I was coming from out of the area to bring my baby for a quick trip, I might reconsider (or at least admit the trip was for the wife and I). But my youngest is 1 and she loves the parks as much as my other two. Something for everybody! Also, free child is nice and so is a lap child, so the limitations on rides are few.  No matter what, great memories at the end of the day!! - chrismis21  696.2 #282 12:40PM
We just got a few attitudes from friends when they found out we were coming. They were like they won't remember it! That's why there are pictures. And I'll remember it too. πŸ˜πŸ˜›πŸ˜œ - Dsc1983  16.3 #8208 1:00PM
I went when I was 2, my brother was a newborn, so he didn't go.  I have a few sketchy memories (mostly of a dark scary ride, lol), but to this day I still like to look at the pictures and they make me smile, so there!  πŸ˜œ - bluefairy  643.8 #313 1:15PM
