Hello mousewait, I have a question about DAS. 2 years ago my girlfriend tore her ACL and PCL in her knee. We both have APs and go often. Just recently her knee has been bothering her during our visits to the Disneyland resort. By bothering her I mean that she can't stand on it for long periods of time without it being very painful. Is this something Disney provides accommodations for? Does she nee  More...

They might not give her one but tell her for something like that she should use a wheel chair. But it's worth a try.  - WhatTiggersDoBest  692.6 #344 4:05PM
I'll try to talk her into it but she hated when I bring up wheelchairs or canes. Recently we just avoid the rides with long lines or take a 30+ min rest break after a long line. That being said, the last time I waited in the stand by line for space mountain (her favorite ride) has been 6 months ago!  - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 4:31PM
Ask Guest Relations (City Hall) if she would qualify for DAS. - BombFrogFormerCM  1187.6 #182 4:53PM
Is there a number to call that you know of? I want to be prepared if they need medical records and don't really want to lug around a file of medical records if I don't have to.  - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 4:58PM
HIPPA (health information privacy protection act) may prevent CMs for requiring anything more than a doctor's note... Please call tel:714-781-4565 to speak with a CM. - BombFrogFormerCM  1187.6 #182 5:15PM
They CANNOT ask you for medical records. It's against HIPA laws. They only take your word for it. If she has a handicap placard, a copy might help. But they shouldn't give you too much grief. - DLKenCA  3568.2 #50 5:01PM
With this in mind I'll stop by guest relations and talk to them. Hopefully they are a little lenient on her. I mean she started having to wear her knee brace again to the parks. If it doesn't work out, we will try what you suggested above.  - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 5:12PM
Some of the FP/DAS lines are still quite long to wait in on a busier day. Look into both but those wheelchair return times sound so much more ideal for her conditions that you described. πŸŒΊπŸ’œ - apesandmonkeys  6523.5 #24 5:49PM

Matterhorn walk off. Last pic I could snap off before the CM said that he was considering calling security. My response was simply that I'd love to talk to them and ask when I was instructed not to take pictures.

Probably not the place to mention that remark. I imagine that Matterhorn walk off may be tricky and the CM is looking out for your safety. The CM may have mentioned not to take pictures, as I often do when doing an evac at Indy. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2752.6 #63 5:22PM
In glad to see that the SOP is still the same... - BombFrogFormerCM  1187.6 #182 5:25PM
No mention not to take pictures. A threat wasn't warranted. I was not asked to stop taking pictures, I was told only after the fact that my actions had repercussions. This is a nonconditional threat and is intentional infliction of emotional distress or even negligent infliction. Lets remember he did not say please stop taking pictures or I will call security (conditional threat) he said "I'm considering calling security" (nonconditional). At no point in time was I told not to take pictures and if it is a safety procedure for a cast member to do so, he failed to do his job. - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 4:14PM
My response to his statement is predicated on the ideology that it was not my fault for not knowing not to take pictures.(Maybe the Matterhorn staff should be reminded to tell patrons not to take pictures or change safety procedure to remind people not to.) If you look through mouse wait archives you see that many people post pictures during walk offs which may provide evidence to the fact that it was reasonable to take pictures. - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 4:18PM
Thank you for your input though! It's nice to hear a cast members opinion on the incidence - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 4:22PM

Sorry you had a bad experience. When I was host on People Mover, which broke down at least once a shift...our procedure was for guests to stay put until we got there, secure all personal belongings, exit the pods with the guest full attention on the walkway...we advised guests to keep hands free so they could use handrails. Please be mindful it is stressful for the CMs as they are trying to make this as safe for you as well as other guests. - BombFrogFormerCM  1187.6 #182 4:32PM

I'm going to the park for the first time in 2 years on Monday (yay) and I have a question regarding food options. I'm currently on my fourth month of a diet plan popularly known as Keto which limits my meal options to foods that are considered "low-carb". Are there any places inside DCA or DLR that serve low-carb meals or will I be taking apart a burger at tomorrows and terrace or village haus?

I highly recommend the Bengal BBQ in Adventureland- chicken and beef skewers, veggie skewers too. All delish! - DeadliestPassholder  498.5 #486 10:26AM
That was my first though too. I am also thinking that you could ask for a rice bowl at lucky fortune without rice so you get lots of veggies, meat/tofu and sauce of your choice. - missmimi90  2080.1 #92 10:33AM
Yes, this--just ask for the sauces on the side so that you can control how much you eat. Some of them might have hidden sugars. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  707.8 #330 10:34AM
Well, I recomend Bengal BBQ if you want to stick to meats and veggies, with combinations of different meats and sauces with veggies, you can go wrong! Also, lots of places have really good salads. And don't forget about turkey legs and corn on the cob ;) - Zippitydoodani  260.3 #1392 10:40AM
Surprisingly, I didn't even think of turkey legs! I will have to try my first one on Monday :) - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 12:33PM

Hey guys and gals I'm kind of overwhelmed with options and need your help! A few days ago I downloaded the kindle app for my iPad. Since then I read The deadliest cast member and fell in love with reading on this iPad. I was wondering if there are any other books about Disneyland you recommend. The only Disneyland related books I've read so far are the two episodes of the deadliest cast member so   More...

I like The Disneyland Encyclopedia by Chris Strodder. Lots of interesting little tidbits about the park and you can get the Kindle version for less than $5. - JustCantWait  1148.5 #191 3:45AM
I remember seeing that as an option. Does it read like a good narative? I'm trying to avoid anything that's just a thrown together list of facts and trivia. - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 4:22AM
I like this book also - Sandy  245.8 #1537 5:26AM
Me three. I have this book. - Alicewhoareyou  2813.7 #62 12:34PM
It's mostly little historical vignettes about different aspects of the park. If you want narrative there's a series called Hidden Mickey Adventures and another called Kingdom Keepers. Both are geared towards younger audiences, but I know adults who read and enjoy them. - JustCantWait  1148.5 #191 3:03AM
I've read all the Kingdom Keepers books. They're kinda like mysteries set in the parks. They keep me attention and I'm well beyond the young adult audience they are geared to. 😝 - MousekaNinja  422.4 #606 3:59AM
Jus another heads up, not DL book related, but if you have a library that does digital downloads, you can check out books without ever leaving home. I love it, and free. Everything is the same as going inside the library. Need a library card, ours is 14 days borrowing. Some books have a wait list (depending on #copies). - Sugarbuzz  335.8 #823 6:58AM
I don't think my library does this but I know my schools library does. Unfotunatly their digital collection is limited to academic journals, cal jur books, and other tools for legal research. - dsmdanny  144.9 #2963 12:33PM
Google your library to double check or call them. It might be worth checking into. - Sugarbuzz  335.8 #823 3:54PM
Kingdom Keepers series (I think 5 books). It's for a younger reader but still enjoyed it. - mamamouse22  27.8 #6786 8:10AM

Purchased The Deadliest Cast Member last night and stayed up until 5 am finishing the first episode and getting halfway through the second. At certain points during the read, i felt like I could hear the atmosphere of New Orleans square or even feel the rocking of the skyway carts. Very impressive book and I've already recommended it to my friends!

On all the Halloween flyers and advertisements that advertise everything that is there for Halloween. Does it bug anyone else that they include tower of terror? Everything else on the flyer is seasonal

Doesn't bother me. It is spooky and adds to the theme of Halloween. - KissDclown  1089.2 #207 5:24AM
I agree with KissDclown. Just think of it this way, the haunted mansion has been in Disneyland for at least 35 years or so and I wouldn't consider it seasonal. It all creates a spooky atmosphere! Enjoy the season while you can. - Donaldfan_532  249.6 #1490 10:36AM
You know what I was bummed out because when I went a couple years ago I assumed they were going to decorate it or something so I was a little disappointed when I saw it was the exact same.
