Jon Walmsley at Mad T Party and in the pirates band in NOS. Jon played Jason Walton in the old Walton's TV show back in the '70s/'80s. He obviously has had a lifetime love of music, as his character had a guitar in his hand on many episodes of The Walton's.

Halfcaff gets credit for pointing him out to me in a post I made the other day with the pirate band in NOS. SuzeeQZ gets credit for mentioning him playing in Mad T party in DCA. Shari Renee pointed out that he also voiced Christopher Robin in several of the old Winnie the Pooh movies! Which means I need to watch those again! I am not local, but we were just down there and we really enjoyed the CA Science Centre.  It is free to get in but you do have to pay for the special exhibits/IMAX.  They have a Dead Sea Scroll exhibit right now, which does sell out, and it was interesting with a lot of ancient artifacts.  They also have the Endeavour there, which is fascinating to see also.  We also did SeaWorld in San Diego.  I understand there is a lot of controversy surrounding it, but we did enjoy it.  If you go to SeaWorld, check online about the All Day Dining pass..... $30 for unlimited meals in 4 restaurants all day long....we were piggies but loved it. - dianeburns1998  81.3 #3917 8:51PM

50mm is good for portraits at about Β 5 ft away. With my t5i I use a tamron 17-55 2.8 with my ISO set at 12800, that is my all around lens & does great In dark & light but it depends on your camera as much as the lens - UTDISNEYFAMILY  1901.2 #88 7:27PM

So I'm planning our August trip, but I'm having a hard time figuring out where to stay. We normally stay at one of the resort hotels, but the prices right now are crazy. I know a lot of people like the Howard Johnsons, but our kids are preteens. It seems to cater to the younger kids. Any thoughts?

What kind of price range and will you want to walk, park, or take a hotel shuttle?  We love staying on property, but it is very expensive--can only do it once every few years.  We stayed at Embassy Suites a few times when we first started visiting DL (2005, I think).  We loved it--free breakfast and free happy hour (wine, beer, and a few simple drinks for adults, sodas and Shirley temples for kids, and popcorn for everyone).  I stayed there as a teen with my parents and thought it was fun.  But, it is not walking distance.  We have used Priceline in recent years and been placed at Marriott Suites (on Harbor, not walking distance), Holiday Inn (by M&F parking, walking distance) and Red Lion (on Harbor, walking distance).  All were clean and easy, but nothing special in terms of ambiance/experience.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 2:44PM

you will not mess up with embassy suites! ooh i love that brand... coz of FREE BFAST and HAPPY HOUR!!! Too bad, their hotel is way far of a walk to the parks - otilegna  2664.6 #48 6:12PM

We usually stay at Red Lion about a mile away, but easy walking.  Breakfast buffet included with really good bacon.  We've also stayed at Carousel Inn and Suites for convenience of being across from main gate. Have found both for less than $150 a night - duckymomo  45.3 #4976 5:43PM
