Hi, not new but don't post very much. I will be at the parks January 4-8 and all of this packed and capacity business is making me very nervous. I have mostly heard that post holidays the park calms down somewhat but I always feel more at ease when I hear from park going professionals such as yourselves :) I sadly don't get to go to the parks very often and this trip will be my Credential Program   More...
Wow!!  we are Disneyland professionals, never thought of it that way.  I think your dates will let you see some crowds and hopefully some not, but I always go with the thought that it will be packed.  we keep to the right and try to find paths through large herds of people standing there without moving, we plan our riding of attractions around which way the crowds will be going for fireworks, the parades, or fantasmic.  the 4 and 5th you will see this.  main street is verrrrrrrry slow to walk through during parade so avoid if you can, get on the train if you get stuck in front of it.  if at dca, world of color people come from the show both from paradise pier and grizzly area and they come at you like a herd and do not get out of the way for people walking the other way so avoid or pack an extra suitcase of patience for that one.  if you are in DL at fireworks, find your spot early and trade off with each other to hold your place, mark out your spot with jackets, whatever, and if you get stuck in that they make you walk in a circle around the hub to get to frontierland or anywhere.  and at the same time fantasmic is getting out and they don't allow anyone to walk towards new Orleans or critter country, they hold you all up by the mark twain and it is a huge mess so try to stay in fantasyland or tomorrowland during this time.  fireworks are awesome in front of IASW and it snows there too, at least on the 4th and 5th.  bring snacks if caught in a crowd, and keep your schedules nearby (they give them to you at gate) then you will be fun.  it gets chilly at night too even when 80 in the day so bring a jacket.  lockers are right outside dl or inside off main street and they are awesome.  ok, wrote my book!!!  hope that helps  a little bit. - secretagentangel  1251.8 #103 5:46PM

I consider myself a pretty brave guy, and see some pretty scary stuff....but I'm not brave enough to face the crowds at the parks on NYE!!! πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‰ - DisneyDavidEMT  1584.4 #81 5:28PM
I agree!  We went ONCE years ago and it was sooo crowded you could hardly move. Not a safe situation in our opinion.  - DisneyGrandma  694.7 #231 5:34PM

Idk why people have this idea it'll be slower, people are done with shopping, baking and cooking tamales (Hispanic thing) and most got passes for Xmas so it's usually worse after Christmas and with schools not returning until passed the 13th, it'll stay pretty busy. So just enjoy being there the best you can and enjoy the sights, because that'll help you enjoy your trip not looking at the crowds around you, look at the magic. Enjoy!!!  - MarshaMouse  4071.1 #24 6:16PM
This is what I was thinking. I'm going the 4th with the assumption it will be packed... Just not NYE packed. Beatlemike is under false assumption it won't be that crowded lol - missmimi90  1398.2 #92 6:29PM

Okay please don't bash me because I promised I searched and found nothing...did anyone else see that story today on the teen girl who was denied access to the park because she was dressed as Tinkerbell? She was on the news..crying real tears over it. Isn't there a rule against costumes over a certain age?

My worst was in the 4th grade when I spent weeks and weeks selling candy to fundraise with my school choir so we could go to a competition in Disneyland and I got chicken pox THE DAY before we left... Worst: 10 years old first trip to DL ever..there's a picket line at main entrance..(esplanade and DCA were a huge parking lot)..being the little adult that I was, I walked up to a CM patrolling the picket line and asked what was going on...they said the characters were on strike! What do you mean, I asked...he went on to tell me, you know Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck etc, there all on strike...I looked back at the picket line and saw people...not truly understanding...he must've saw the confusion on my face, because he said, you know that's all pretend...it's costumes and stuff...still fully not comprehending, I went back to my Aunt who heard everything and was mortified! So my first DL trip had no characters EVER...Best: this past weekend!! Reunion Rocked! - Shangz  286.7 #884 10:59AM

I would say my best Disneyland memory was going to Disneyland after my boyfined was killed in afghanstsin. Going to DL was the first time I smiled and laughed and ate in almost a week and a half after he died. Going to DL after he died was a special memory because that was our favorite place to go together. The worest memory was going to Disneyland after he died and watching the flag retreat. Poll Question: which is better in your opinion and why: space mountain or CA screaming? I'd say CA Screaming because nothing beats the thrill of that initial takeoff!
Gotta be Screamin; Nothing gets your pulse racing faster! It's only ~55 MPH but feels like 100! - Shroppy  272.8 #1012 2:51PM
I love them both but I'm gonna say Space Mountain because it is classic and it never gets old. Screamin used to turn My stomach depending where I sat but that might have been health related. Will know in 3 weeks. Yay - Disneylanddad702  463.9 #395 4:30PM

Britney Spears is a sweetheart! :D - Jillian  767.1 #202 12:55PM
If I was a celeb I wouldn't want to be "approached" by strangers. Everyone deserves to enjoy Disneyland on their own terms. :) - LovemesomeDoleWhip  108.7 #3252 1:04PM
That's sad, but I'm not surprised. She doesn't seem like a very nice person. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  534.9 #329 1:22PM
Christina has come a long way from her humble beginning. I doubt she would be any different wherever she is. I watched the Voice and she was RUDE on that show. Only time she seemed humble was when she came in 4th place. With fame comes followers. How can you not give a hello to the public who supported you in getting where you are? That's not to say they should be interrupted while eating or other personal moments but if you walk through a park at least extend a wave, blow a kiss or acknowledge your fans in some way. BTW Two girls who attended the same dance school as my daughter danced for Xtina as back up dancers for a short period as . . . they QUIT due to her overbearing attitude!! - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  631.8 #265 1:36PM
I've barely even watched the Voice, but it seems like every time I catch a piece of it, she's being totally stuck up, to put it mildly--it's a total turn off. I'd probably watch the show if she wasn't so annoying, lol! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  534.9 #329 1:45PM
Sometimes when Christina would sing with her team she would overpower them way too much. - iamdugsmaster  878.7 #170 1:58PM
She gave my friends and I the stink eye when we attempted to say hello. Her plaid requested to leave her alone. That's fine but she could have at least smiled instead of looking at us like we were trash. I also interacted with her during a show taping and got to ask her a question and she was a total witch to the camera man and crew during filming. I was a big fan but not anymore. - JenInWonderland  1025.8 #148 3:30PM
I've seen a few but actually met Melissa Gilbert. She is super sweet! - KissDclown  1089.3 #135 6:50PM
I've seen Chaz Bona and Derek Hough. I think I passed Reese Witherspoon in Splash back in November. Wouldn't have been cool to get a picture with her since I was celebrating my birthday. I think I also saw Jessica Alba that day too - Ain1derland  330.3 #651 6:57PM

For the restaurants inside the park hotels, do you need to be a guest of the hotel to dine at them, or are they open to the public?

I was recently invited by my boyfriend's family to join them on a trip to Disneyland in celebration of mine and his college graduations and I am SO excited! Question for you all, especially you lucky guys and gals who frequent the wonderment of Disneyland: what is the single best dining experience you have experienced at either park? At any food spot, be it restaurant or cart! I'd love to hear w  More...
Oh boy, where to begin! My wish list is the chef's counter at Napa Rose but our realistic must-eats include, pomme frites, monte cristo and gumbo at Cafe Orleans, fried green tomato sandwich at hungry bear, dole whips, churros, beignets at jazz kitchen express in DTD, chicken dinner at plaza inn, carnation cafe is closed for refurb but the loaded baked potato soup is amazing, we are always sure to grab a corn dog and a candy apple. There are others but these stand out in my mind at the moment! - cynDOLEwhip  1175.5 #116 8:32PM
I know you asked for single best but I'm pregnant and hungry so you get options πŸ˜‚ - cynDOLEwhip  1175.5 #116 8:33PM
This πŸ‘†and I was happily surprised by the jolly holiday sandwiches. I took one to eat at home and it was excellent. - Plumiegirl  7906.3 #3 8:38PM
Ha ha cyndel you made me hungry - PrinceTeaJack  917.2 #163 10:07PM
How exciting and congratulations on your graduation!! Monte Cristo at Blue Bayou is my all time favorite!! Also, just about ANYTHING at Marcelines in DTD!! Have a magical trip!! - brittandkell  406.8 #468 8:26PM
Blue Bayou is a great atmosphere but if you want a Monte Cristo go. To Cafe Orleans. There are much better entrees at Blue Bayou that You can't get anywhere else in the park. - Deltachiq  1222.6 #108 8:32PM
πŸ‘†yep! - cynDOLEwhip  1175.5 #116 8:35PM
But you don't get that view at Cafe Orleans! I just love Blue Bayou. /sigh - LovemesomeDoleWhip  108.7 #3252 9:46PM
All those have great atmospheres and food but I personally love Goofys Kitchen. Even as an adult character breakfasts it lunches are so fun! There is one in the park and one at paradise Pier :) - Raeofsunshine  12.6 #8090 10:05PM
Nothing beats a corndog and people watching besides a corn dog, Dole whip, churro, and people watching. Best place to do this is on main street. - dnerd  294.0 #839 10:21PM
