I've had a very bad few weeks emotionally, gained 3.5 pounds last week, and have had a hard time getting things together. I didn't weigh in yet, but I did measure myself. Since I started riding my bike I lost 3 inches off my hips and 2 inches off my waist. I'm going to weigh in to weigh in tomorrow. I've had a good week staying on plan with my diet. I'm not riding my bike. I can't do it ye  More...

You're in my thoughts every day!  I'm so sad for you, but I know you'll make it through this.  Your puppy will help a lot.  BTW - that's awesome about the inches lost! - msdizmaui  577.7 #284 7:53PM
That is sooooo awesome that you've lost inches--you are very strong to be able to continue eating well and measure at a time like this!  Good job!  I have had four dogs pass away over the course of my life, and three of those four were unexpected, sudden losses--although I don't know exactly how you feel, I know how hard it is to have to experience that kind of a loss.  It's devastating, a part of the family is gone--but life keeps moving forward and people can choose to move with it.  Your new family member will bring you such joy--it will not replace Oscar, but it will fill a different kind of space in your hearts--one that you didn't even realize you had 😊 I'm so excited for your new adventure!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 9:48PM

I'm not doing very well. I'm so sad and very unmotivated. I'm having a hard time with everything. I'm losing desire. I don't know how to pull myself out of this. I don't know if I can.
Just think, soon you'll have a new little puppy to chase around. And of course he'll never replace the one you've lost but now you get to creat new memories with the new little guy.  - MXPrincess399  630.8 #251 9:26PM

That's awesome!  What a great loss.  I love to eat in disneyland as much as anything else. My favorite meal is fried chicken. I only get to the park a few times a year. I also love the bake potato soup. Yummy. Enjoy.
Congratulations!  I would probably have a pear martini or tequila Daisy at Carthay Circle and dinner at either Bordwalk Pizza and Pasta (The food isn't super-duper fabulous, but it's good--I mainly just adore sitting outside in the evening there), Cafe Orleans (we love to split house salad and Monte Cristo), or Bengal Barbeque with a Dole Whip for dessert!  Now I'm hungry, lol 😂 - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 9:37PM

You will love it!  And I've googled the nutritional info in the past--it's actually not that bad.  I think 1/2 cup has something like 90-100 calories and it's fairly low fat.  Problem is that my guess is that the servings are more than 1/2 cup, lol 😂 - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 9:51PM

I've done both. Now I weigh in 2 or 3 times a week.  When I did weigh in daily the small ups and downs messed with my head too much. I'm too impatient to wait a full week.
When I was in my early 20s, I used to weigh every day, but as I got older, I realized I was too preoccupied with the numbers.  Currently, I haven't weighed in months--I threw our scale out when I moved, lol.  I have a range I know I'm in (based on the fact that my clothes fit better than they did last winter and I'm running regularly).  It's probably better to weigh regularly, but I gotta say, it's pretty liberating not feeling like I need to know the exact number and just concentrating on eating well and exercising.  If anyone finds a nice balance, I'd love to hear more!  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 10:13AM

That's better than me.  I TOTALLY fell off the wagon last week and gained a bunch back (too ashamed to say how much).  I know that a lot of it is water weight and should come back off, but I'm still mad at myself!  Why can't we all have been blessed with those "I can eat anything and never gain weight" metabolisms!!! - msdizmaui  577.7 #284 3:02PM

I actually do better if I have a higher calorie day or two once in awhile.  Allowing yourself a few treats every so often (kinda like a stress release) helps prevent binging and can "trick" your body so you don't plateau. The trick is that you have to allow yourself the treat, not feel guilty, and return to healthy eating right away, otherwise it won't work at all. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 11:39AM

You have done great this year! Can you mix up your meals at all?  Sometimes, I feel like trying different foods, veggies, fruits, seasonings, and spices helps me stay on track.  I get really bored otherwise.  Can you sub a big salad or something that's equivalent in calories and fat with real yummy ingredients for one of the Jenny meals?   If all else fails, keep in mind that you'll be at the Grand at the end of summer, and Joey Lawrence might be there again, so you'll want to look your best, lol!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 12:16PM
here is goes, every day is another chance to get it right, start over, or begin again. Start again. Tell yourself to eat clean because unless you make it, it will be impossible to find over the counter unless you have a special place to get healthy foods. I am on the eve of a probable cancer diagnosis and I put myself cold turkey on a diet and I already mentally feel better. Damn I am hungry but I want the best health around what I am going to be facing. So try again and be happy.  - Plumiegirl  7616.3 #3 8:50PM

I'm sorry, mrs.mouse.  Keep riding!  Remember that regular exercise has so many benefits: just getting your heart rate up and working your lungs helps decrease your chance for lots of diseases and cancers in the future.  Each rotation of your pedal moves you forward, health wise, even if you don't see it reflected on the scale.  Plus, it's keeping you from gaining :)  We are so proud of you and happy that you found an exercise that brings you happiness!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 6:34PM
Very good advice for all of us! - msdizmaui  577.7 #284 12:58AM
I'm not someone who loses weight easily, so I kinda had to come to terms with it (some people just have to cut out soda and start walking a mile a day and can lose 10 pounds like *that*--I am not one of those people!).  I really think that as a society, we should try to relax and actually enjoy exercise and focus on well being, rather than weight loss, because weight loss just doesn't happen sometimes.  However, it's been proven time and again that long term exercise is crucial for overall health now and in one's future.  Society kind of teaches us that exercise equals weight loss, but it's not necessarily true (female Olympic athletes are rarely skinny, and often their BMI falls in the "overweight" category--but they exercise more than most people work at a full time job each week, lol).   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 7:55PM

I hear you.  I know it's frustrating, but that's exactly what is supposed to happen at the beginning--totally normal :)  We used to tell the ladies at the gym not to weigh for the first month or so after they began exercising because it gets discouraging.  Remember that the scale is just a number, and it's not really the best way to measure fitness or progress.  Try measuring inches, too, and I bet you'll see yourself getting smaller :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  505.1 #345 6:59AM
