I wanted to share a touching story.. Earlier this year, a friend of my mothers tragically lost his daughter. Sadly, she was killed in a car accident on her way home after a day at the parks. Disneyland, like many of us here, was one of her favorite places to be. After many months of grieving, and trying to put the pieces back together..their family has something to smile about. The daughter's ashe More...
Question for the locals: I will be coming down to cheer my sister on for the marathon, but will not be able to enter the parks. Besides Downtown Disney, what are some fun things to do in the area?? I will have my 1 1/2yr old son with me, and we will be there from Saturday to Monday afternoon.
Thinking about treating myself to something special at the Grand's spa for my birthday trip coming up in December... Would anyone have a suggestion that has experienced their spa? Massage..? Pedicure..? Package..? Will be going to the parks for 5 days and thinking it may be a good idea to schedule something in the middle for a rejuvenation!
My tattoo artist likes to offer fun specials every now and then, already took him up on his pirate special on National Talk Like A Pirate Day. Now look what's up for grabs!! Thinking of a Mickey made of round garnets for my mother.. Any other fun ideas?? What would YOU get?!
Opinions please--I've been piecing together a trip for my husband, baby and I that we'll be taking in December, and would just like to be sure I'm getting a good deal. We'll be getting 5-day park hopper tickets through the military for $276 a piece (normally $300) and staying at the Best Western just across the street on Harbour. For the two tickets plus the 4 nights and the hotel will come to abo More...
Hhmm.. A little disappointed about a situation my sister experienced yesterday in DTD at the World of Disney.. My sis saw a shirt in DCA she wanted to purchase but decided to wait on buying it so she wouldn't have to carry it around, figured she could buy it in WOD along with some other souvenirs the next morning. Unfortunately the particular shirt she wanted wasn't there, she asked if there was a More...
Meh.. Just saw Ashley Tisdale is on the cover of Maxim. I understand everybody grows up..but it has to be a little awkward for her younger fans to see her more than half naked by the checkout stand. I'm going to assume that's the nail in the coffin for her Disney career.
Working on my little monster's 1st birthday party!! Left is the front of his invitation..top right is a favor..bottom right is one of the many doors we will string along the party like streamers! Still have lots to do, but excited about the progress!
Question for the folks who have purchased a Disney vacation package in the past---Normally my family and I pay for our tickets to the park and our hotel separately, we usually stay 2-3 days. But our next visit will be a 4 night, 5 day trip. In your opinion, is it more economical to purchase a package..or piece it together yourself? (We typically stay across the street at the Carousel..Del Sol..Des More...
**Attention cool cats!!** March 16th at the House of Blues in DTD, those amazing (and gorgeous..!) Danish rockabillies known as VOLBEAT will be bringing down the House!! I'll be making a special trip down from Fresno to see the show (averting my eyes from the parks as I will not be able to step inside..sniff) Anybody else going to be rocking out with me??!!
This is MrMOMzers wonderful picture with a little magic added! We've been beta testing the MouseWait Advanced Composer for awhile now. This allows approved MWers to create their own "column" in the Lounge with expanded posts, pics, and videos inside the post. We are ready to open this feature up to more people who are intersted in having their own MouseWait Column in the Lounge. Your posts could be featured on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ and seen by our 100,000+ strong social media audience!
This feature is best used for instructional posts, history posts (like Duchess_SMK's column), and for reporting news (i.e. BaseballMickey_CM's posts). You could also do this to create a post describing your recent visit to the Parks with multiple pictures, videos, and more--think of it like an article that would appear in a magazine. The Advanced Composer only works on the web version. GO HERE TO APPLY and watch your email for more info (make sure you're email client is not blocking our emails or sending them to Spam--for some reason icloud.com, me.com, and mac.com will not allow our messages to come through.)
Thank you to everyone who strives to add quality content to the Lounge! Thanks again to MrMOMzers for the amazing picture!
Mr. Disney was one of five children, four boys and a girl. He was the fourth born Disney son. He was named after his parents pastor and friend Walter Parr, a preacher at St. Paul Congregational Church. The pastor, in turn, will later name his son Elias, after Walt's father.
Most of Walt's childhood was spent on a farm in Marceline, Missouri, where he began drawing, painting and selling pictures to neighbors and family friends. In 1911, the family moved to Kansas City, where his love for trains really developed. His Uncle, Mike Martin, was a train Engineer who worked on the route between Fort Madison, Iowa, and Marceline. Walt would later work a summer job with the railroad, selling newspapers and snacks to the travelers. To read more about Walts love for trains

To watch a short biography of Walts life:
Walt and Lillian Disney with unnamed friend, London, 1935.
Walt Disney in my opinion, is a wonderful example of the American dream! He represents: imagination, optimism, creation, and self-made success in the American tradition. He brought us closer to the future, while telling us of the past, it is certain, Walt Disney was a great man! He and his brother Roy co-founded Walt Disney Productions, which became one of the best-known motion-picture production companies in the world! Disney was an innovative animator and created the cartoon characters we all love to watch today. :) He won 22 Academy Awards during his lifetime, and was the founder of the magical playgrounds that ties us all together, Disneyland and Disney World. Had he been alive today he would be 112 years old! Happy birthday Walt! Thank you so much for believing in your dreams! You are a true inspiration.
In honor of today, it would be fun if we all mentioned our favorite quote from Mr. Disney. I'll go first, I have many, but this one always sticks out:
"I've always been interested in the past and history and I think it's vital."
Thanks for reading and watching! Hope you all have a terrific Thursday!
