I remember watching on the news on opening day. The crowds they had predicted never materialized, and the park was quiet. I never saw it for myself until 2006, so some of the original attractions were already gone by then. I think the old DCA was a bit cheezy in places. The movie with Whoopi Goldberg was just so unintentionally funny and cheezy. The videos of Superstar Limo are just plain creepy. The recent updates, including Buena Vista Street and Cars Land, were definately needed and have made this the awesome park it is today. - ScooterMike  1959.8 #35 8:03AM

I remember when DCA opened but I was not living in California at the time... It wasn't until about 3 years later that I saw the new park. My honest opinion of the park was disappointment. I thought it lacked the Disney qualities I've known for years. The new park is a lot better but I still consider Disneyland to be where the Magic really is. I remember when DCA opened. I was so annoyed I could not go. We went when I was 6 month pregnant so we saw it from a distance while it was being build which was torture! A whole bunch of our friends went and kept telling us about it. But I was in my last bit of pregnancy and due any time with my first child and no one would let me go. Thanks for your thoughts, BBM! My family and I attended the preview on Monday and, something I'd like to add- the imagineers did a a fantastic job thinking about the visitors' experience. There was SHADE. All the queue areas were well shaded (A/C in Luigi's!). I had stopped to buy a hat on BV street because I forgot mine and thought I would bake over the course of the hot afternoon in Cars Land... But we didn't! Another note on the shops on BVS- they were wonderful! So much merchandise I had never seen! They were spacious and carpeted and the ceilings in the toy shop changed colors! Big thumbs up. Something I love about Disney is the fact that even the people who work there get just as excited (if not MORE excited) about new lands/attractions at the parks. I also love that you said you couldn't wait to see how guests would react to the changes! It's kind of like when you take a friend whose never been to Disneyland/DCA and how you're watching them react to what their seeing for the first time. Great review!
