Tinkerbell Half is only 16 days away.  It will be my first time running in a Disney race and my first Half.  Im kind of freaking out - doubting that I am prepared for this race.  Had lots of obstacles to overcome during my training (stress fracture and then Christmas Sinus cold).  Anyone have some experiences you can share to calm this newbie down?
Yay, you're going to have so much fun! My first half was the DL half last September, and I had similar feelings going into it.  I found the whole experience to be fairly comfortable--trust your training, listen to your body, and run your own  race.  And take the time to enjoy the experience!   Don't do anything new on the morning of the race: use your normal shoes, clothes, and stick to your normal foods and fuel.  And a great tip I read on one bloggers page is that the bathrooms in the parks are open so I didn't use the porta potties, lol.  Good luck!  The Disney races are just so fun and inspiring, and in my experience those 13 miles went much quicker than my long training runs!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.2 #335 8:17PM
Nothing I can share but I've always wanted to run this too so all I can offer is my support & encouragement! Please post your results...I'm excited to hear how it is! - hotrodrachel  68.5 #3859 10:44PM
Run your own race. People will take off very quickly at the start but if that's not the pace you trained that stick to your pace.  - MXPrincess399  639.3 #259 7:37AM
I think that you're awesome for entering.  If I were there I'd be right there with you...running, walking, whatever.  Good luck and have a great time! - msdizmaui  623.0 #272 12:49AM

Feeling a bit deflated today - after literally months and months of training for the upcoming Tinkerbell 1/2 coming in January (Im a first timer) - I started to have a constant pain in my right leg.  Doctor confirmed today it's a stress fracture of the tibia bone - no running for 6-8 weeks.  UGH - this is such a huge setback for me. I know so many of you are in training mode - so you kno  More...
Oh dear, I'm so sorry!  Does your doc think you will not be able to do the race at all?  I hope you heal quickly and that isn't the case!  I can tell you from experience that you should be able to comfortably walk it, but it's soooo frustrating to have a hang up like that, especially when you feel strong otherwise.  Have you considered swimming?  It is non-impact and will help build your cardio base while you're unable to run (obviously, check with your doc first, though).  I wish you a speedy recovery!  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.2 #335 5:33PM
He thinks I can do more walking than running- but we  just have to wait and see how it heals. I like your idea of swimming- I will definitely see if he will let me do that. So so frustrating to have come so far and have to suddenly stop.  - princessSue  261.9 #1100 6:58PM
Well, I'm glad that he thinks it's still something you can do!  In all honesty, I ended up finishing the DL half (my first half also) about 30 minutes slower than I had trained for (the heat combined with being in one of the last corrals and having to go very slow through the first 4 miles in the parks because there were so many people).  I knew I could have done better, but I realized that whether you walk or run, 13.1 miles is a HUGE accomplishment.  You can use it as a baseline to keep improving and challenging yourself on future races :)  It will all work out!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.2 #335 10:44PM
Oh no. What a set back. In sorry. Are you able to do anything instead?  I hope you heal quickly and safely.  - Mrs.mouse  515.8 #345 9:05PM
Oh how disappointing!   I am also a first timer training for my first half at WDW in January.  So I can imagine how discouraging this must be.  I hope the swimming works for you. If you can keep up some kind of cardio and do some strength training for your legs, you may not lose as much training momentum as you think.   Sending you lots of pixie dust and positive thoughts.  Keep us posted. - D55CR  249.9 #1217 3:57PM
Wow so sorry to hear this!.. Hopefully you can swim and get some upper body workouts in!.. Please hang in there and sending pixie dust your way✨✨✨✨ - Twinklelashes  146.4 #2600 7:53AM

Ok - So I will get this started. It's January 1st - the start of a new year. Time to get motivated and get off the couch. Will you exercise today? Will you eat better? Smaller portions? Post your accomplishments for today. Start thinking of a goal - write it down and put it where you can look at it every day (I keep mine on the refrigerator). Together we can do this!!!! Today I walked 5  More...
I'm there with you!  I weighed for real this morning - not as a "guest" on my scale (which doesn't record the weight), but on my official record from summer.  I've gained 8.4 lbs, which is okay (5 of those I've gained in the last few days - probably last night! - so they should come off fast)!  In previous years I start off the New Year having gained back 15 lbs, which made me feel defeated before I even started so I would continue to eat until around March when I got serious (and by that time have gained another 15 lbs!).  So it's back to South Beach Diet this morning, new batteries in the eliiptical display box.  I'm all set!  Happy New Year to you too... I'm confident that 2012 will be a good year! - msdizmaui  623.0 #272 1:55PM
Good for you! I stepped on the scale today, and was VERY sorry that I did! - PrincessKristin  780.2 #199 4:42PM

I just wanted to say Thank to all you wonderful MW's. I have been recuperating from wrist and elbow surgery for the last two weeks and MW has been a great way to keep my mind off the pain and boredom of being stuck at home. I don't post much - but I love to see what is going on at DLand everyday. So Thanks!

Does anyone remember those deep fried dough balls that they used to sell in New Orleans Square? They used to be sold at the window outside of Pirates ( a long time ago- 80's maybe 90's) Can you still get them anywhere in the park?
