I've been doing the monthly payment option ever since it started. It's perfect since they don't charge any type of interest, so it's literally the same price just chopped up over a 12 month period. I say go for it, you won't regret it. - jacqueMeetsWorld

It's all dependent on the amount time you go. We live outside Sacramento (Folsom area) we currently have 5 premium passes and we go alot every 6 weeks or so somtimes more. We are upgrading to primer in April for our upcoming Disney World trip in June. It was just cheaper to upgrade. Plus hopefully it forces us to go to WDW one more time within our 12mo pass period. 🎉👍 most families we know that get passes need up going more then they orginal, expected anyways. It's easy to Priceline a room and throw some gas in the car and eat cheap on a 3 day weekend. So I say get them and enjoy. - dadcanevari

We live close to you. I had a premium ap and my wife had a deluxe. We went 4 times last year and between the free parking on a premium and the discounts on merchdise and dining we saved the cost of my pass. Pick hotels that reward you free nights for staying. We stayed in choice hotels and by our 4th trip got 2 free nights at the Quality inn. - NascarDave

One of my favorite memories is as we were leaving on our last trip, walking down Main St. one last time, my kids in the stroller eating lollipops & the Dapper Dans on the horse pulled trolley singing next to us as we walked out. ❤ - marsdenmom

One of my favorite memories is of the Dapper Dans as well. On my oldest sons first trip, it was his 3rd birthday, we stopped to listen to them. My son was loving it, clapping and trying to sing too. All of a sudden he was quiet, they had sung him to sleep! They then posed around his stroller, all doing the "shhhh" sign. Still one of my favorite pictures! - Disneycrazymom

I feel like a bit too many people are getting a bit too heated about this topic.....if you can afford it go, if not save up for when you can....but let's not argue over it ;-(
Here's the deal. Last year Disney was thinking about ending the AP park hoppers due to it will be over crowed in Cars Land. They said it will be more locals in DCA then tourist. So my guess is at the last min was to raise park prices to control AP guess. It hasn't been a full year from the last price increase. No theme park in the world is worth $649 a year in AP. it may be a deal to a single person, but to a family of 4 or 6, it's really out of there budget. That's a price of a small car payment. Oh I agree! As a single mom I am going back and forth as to if I am going to be able to afford to renew our AP's. This is a difficult decision because we have made some amazing friends through Mouse Wait and it's going to be hard not seeing them as often. I have to disagree. I'm disappointed as well, but what is sick is the fact that people coming to Disney for a two day trip which is probably there once a year Vaccation, and can't hardly do anything because lines are soo long. As you mentioned, they could have completely done away with the program, but they didnt. Disneyland is the ONLY park that is worth this price. It will still pay for itself in a very limited number of visits. We have been very spoiled. I have friends all over the world who would die to go to Disneyland. Going to Disneyland as often as you want is a luxury and not a right. I think it's sad when we become sooo complacent that we feel we are ENTITLED to do these very luxurious trips. Some families save for years, just to go for a few days in their entire life. I'm sorry, but this bugs me. Again, I'm disappointed that I can't afford the new passes, but I would never call Disney names or make blanket statements where the realities are being severely distorted. You need to spin your outlook on it. If you do payments...let's say it's $40/$50 a month....that is STILL cheaper than a one day ticket. So even if you go once a month your going at a discounted rate. I'm single but fortunate enough to have a well paying job so I can continue going. Well I was talking to Alex (churrohoarder) and he said the price increase is really only going to amount to one less dinner per month either at Disneyland or another resturant or maybe bringing the kids anacks rather than buying snacks. Once he put it like that I wasn't quite so sad. I guess I have to make dinner once a month now. But in all honesty, Disneyland is a part of our life, it will make lines shorter and will weed some of the younger teens out that have potty mouths. parking hasn't increased (yet). it's still $15 on the website. doesn't mean that it won't go up.. but i can see it going to $20, not $30... but then again, i'm sure we all saw a 10% increase, not 30%.. sigh. I'd like to think part of the reason was Disney Paris losing 2% net income last year, and Tokyo Disney losing 1% from the Tsunami/quake closure.. and the ridiculously expensive and lavish Aulani resort that opened last year as well. City Hall has said there will be a waiting area for those who choose to wait from park closing on the 28th till the park opens on the 29th at 6am. I am prepared to camp over night! Park will open at 5:30, for a few thousand guests for the rope drop and then additional guests will be allowed to enter the park. lol too funny...very cute picture. My favorite was just a few years ago, probably 2005. Anyway we surprised our kids with staying at The Grand. While we were at the park my husband pretended that he needed to go back to our car so that he could get us all checked in. Then when he got back I said I wanted to take a tour of the hotel and we walked around and just so happened to pick the floor we needed ;) and then my husband pretended to try an open a door with his AP card (which was really our key) when it opened the boys were jazzed to look inside a room but my daughter was scared because she thought we'd get in trouble lol when we told them it was our room they were so excited...we had such a wonderful trip. Love when we can treat our kids, I've got pretty terrific kids :) - cdeley
