I've decided that browsing MW while watching TV while listening to update music is the best way to tolerate my elliptical!
Yes, I definitely need to be entertained when I'm using the cardio machines!  I used to love reading a book and listening to Pandora on the elliptical--I think I read most of Gone With the Wind one winter while exercising.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  509.5 #344 3:29PM

Yesterday I had an interview and hadn't thought out the outfit. ย My old black "work" pants swam on me, so today I went through the "bag of many sizes" and redid my closet. I was exhausted after trying on everything (counts as exercise, right?)
How did the interview go?  Congrats on the new size. :) - Mrs.mouse  515.7 #337 7:44AM
It went good I guess.  I'm trying not to second guess them anymore.  If I get too excited, I never hear back!   I am glad to have cleaned out my closet...cranked up the A/C and just got it done! (trying on jeans is not my favorite thing!). - msdizmaui  582.1 #287 7:44PM
"Bag of Many Sizes"...I love it.  - vernswifevickie  399.4 #475 4:43PM
Sure it counts as exercise!  Lol, I'm exhausted after going through my closet.  Good for you and hope the interview went well :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  509.5 #344 4:49PM
Had a 2nd interview yesterday.  The job looks okay, but I don't think that the pay will be worth driving that far (it's in Lahaina - I'd be buying gas every week which would be over $200 a month!).  Also, one of the employees would be real fun to work with...she introduced herself to me by saying 'I'm the mean one that every one says is the bitch".  All righty then..... - msdizmaui  582.1 #287 8:13PM
Oh wow, way to make a first impression, lol.  Well, see how it plays out.  Gas is so expensive that you definitely have to consider how far you're driving.  You almost have to ask yourself "would this be something I would consider if they offered me $200 per month less? Could I live a happy life on that?"   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  509.5 #344 10:18PM

I'm going to try again this year to do the early morning walk around DCA.  I read that you should be able to do a 15 min mile.  Since my dog is old (and sniffs EVERY single plant) we usually do a 45 min mile.  Well...he's in the kennel (because I'm headed to San Diego for 3 days to see Mom) so I decided to see how fast I can do the mile.  The results...13 min for the 1st, and 1  More...
What a fantastic goal. I've never done that. It sounds like fun.  - Mrs.mouse  515.7 #337 11:58PM
Last February when I stayed at the Grand I had every intention to get up in the morning and do this walk. Unfortunately early entry and closing out the parts each night got in the way. But one day for sure I want to do this.  - MXPrincess399  631.8 #257 7:30AM

I used to weigh only once a week.  Then I thought that if I weigh daily, it might keep me on track better.  WRONG.  I did everything to plan yesterday (including exercise) and gained 1/2 lb!   I can't help that I'm a numbers person.  I'm going back to once a week so I don't freak out on a daily basis!  How often does everyone else weigh?
When I was in my early 20s, I used to weigh every day, but as I got older, I realized I was too preoccupied with the numbers.  Currently, I haven't weighed in months--I threw our scale out when I moved, lol.  I have a range I know I'm in (based on the fact that my clothes fit better than they did last winter and I'm running regularly).  It's probably better to weigh regularly, but I gotta say, it's pretty liberating not feeling like I need to know the exact number and just concentrating on eating well and exercising.  If anyone finds a nice balance, I'd love to hear more!  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  509.5 #344 10:13AM
I've done both. Now I weigh in 2 or 3 times a week.  When I did weigh in daily the small ups and downs messed with my head too much. I'm too impatient to wait a full week.  - Mrs.mouse  515.7 #337 10:28AM

40 years ago today I graduated from Venice High school and attended Grad night in my required pant suit! Check out the price back then!
It was 900 dollars. Glad the prices came down - puddy77  168.8 #2252 9:22PM
I went about 20 years after you did, but it was still the same.  We were told that if we weren't dressed appropriately we would be taken to a wardrobe trailer and given/loaned clothes for the evening.  I think I wore a hat everyday in H.S. and no hats were allowed at grad night.  As soon as we went through the gates we bought grad night hats(they were bright purple) and that was OK.  I'm sure the kids today still have a good time, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to experience it the old way.  It's kind of funny, as I was typing all this I had a song running through my head, I looked it up and it was one of the bands that played on grad night. - Mikeymedic  274.3 #972 5:11PM
My pant suit was yellow (no idea what I was thinking).  Right after we went in I had grape juice at the little stand in the old Fantasyland.  My cup had a leak and I got to walk around all night with grape juice down the front of my yellow jacket!  They gave me a voucher to have it cleaned!  Memories! - msdizmaui  582.1 #287 7:15PM
We had to dress up too. All the girls wore skirts or dresses with stockings and the guys had to wear blazers! Teenagers behave better when dressed up, or so they hoped! - happiestplace  94.5 #3426 9:43PM

I need a pep talk!  I've totally blown the diet for the past week!  I really thought I had the mental part of this down, and I'm not sure what happened..I just woke up one morning and didn't feel like it.  I think it has something to do with being out of work - it was awesome in the beginning - now it's just starting to feel like "being out of work".  I MUST get it back togethe  More...
You've been doing so well, don't beat yourself up about it. Take it one meal or one snack at a time. Everyone goes through a funk. You've had a lot going on. Hang in there.  - Mrs.mouse  515.7 #337 12:10PM
You have done great this year! Can you mix up your meals at all? ย Sometimes, I feel like trying different foods, veggies, fruits, seasonings, and spices helps me stay on track. ย I get really bored otherwise. ย Can you sub a big salad or something that's equivalent in calories and fatย with real yummy ingredients for one of the Jenny meals? ย  If all else fails, keep in mind that you'll be at the Grand at the end of summer, and Joey Lawrence might be there again, so you'll want to look your best, lol! ย  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  509.5 #344 12:16PM
here is goes, every day is another chance to get it right, start over, or begin again. Start again. Tell yourself to eat clean because unless you make it, it will be impossible to find over the counter unless you have a special place to get healthy foods. I am on the eve of a probable cancer diagnosis and I put myself cold turkey on a diet and I already mentally feel better. Damn I am hungry but I want the best health around what I am going to be facing. So try again and be happy.ย  - Plumiegirl  7675.3 #3 8:50PM

Nooooo!  I'm so sorry to read this Plumie! We're all here for you.  Be strong...try to stay positive and post often so we know what's going on!  You'll beat this (as so many women who have come before you). It won't be easy, but with faith, trust and pixie dust, you'll be okay.  No one can answer the "why" question.  I know it's hard and scary, but just try to focus on getting better and making this horrible disease go away...for good!  I'll be thinking of you!  Hugs!!!! - msdizmaui  582.1 #287 2:29AM
I'm so sorry to hear, Plumie.  You are very strong--hold onto your hope through this and know that the fact that all these years of good health give you extra ammunition against it.  Picture the cancer as little and weak and visualize your healthy, stronger body winning the battle.  ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’ช๐ŸŽ€ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  509.5 #344 8:53AM
