I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sure he appreciated the family being there with him; that's a very loving and supportive thing to do. My condolences to you and your family.

It sounds like your adjusting pretty well on your own. If you ever have trouble getting to sleep, I find taking a melatonin pill very helpful. It's not like a sleeping pill because your body produces melatonin naturally anyway. Adding a little more makes me a little more tired as long as I turn off the lights and get in bed. It doesn't really work if I stay active. Costco sells a huge package of m  More...
Darn it sounds so good on paper!..are you getting enough sleep?.. Maybe wind down a little earlier and try and get some more sleep in?..do you have time or drink coffee in the morning? - Twinklelashes  144.4 #2420 1:58PM
I know--I need to go to bed earlier, but I can't sleep! I'm a night person by nature, so this is a bit hard on me, but I'm determined to figure it out! I used to work at a gym and sometimes I'd have the opening shift (had to be there by about 4:30 to open at 4:45). I always wondered how people could possibly be so cheerful and active at that time, lol! It was hard enough to fake a smile and check people in! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 6:24PM
Congrats SOS sounds like you are getting into the groove!.. Skinny jean victory.. Woohoo!!.. I bet Sweet Joey just loves the morning runs too!.. And super cool your workout is done before the sun comes up!.. Awesome job!!!! - Twinklelashes  144.4 #2420 10:06PM
My husband switches shifts often and unless he gets on the new schedule immediately then he is miserable. Sometimes he takes a sleeping pill to help him get to sleep earlier. After a few days of that routine, his body usually adjusts. I don't like taking pills and I dont drink coffee so as soon as I wake up I turn on all the lights and I start the shower off with cooler water than usual. Music helps too. Good luck! - PirateQueenBriezy  291.4 #678 9:57PM
I'm so impressed SOS!  I wish that I were a morning person...but I'm just not!  This week I set my alarm for 1/2 hour early to use my eliptical before I showered.  Didn't happen...(and probably never will!) - msdizmaui  521.5 #226 8:29PM
Lol, I honestly couldn't do it without my husband's encouragement. I've never really liked sleeping in late, but I'm not a morning person either. The weight loss is encouraging (I've been stalled lately). Went shopping today--things fit well and I felt good for the first time in a few years, really. So I came home and tried on my "skinny jeans," (bought them on my honeymoon). They've been a bit tight for the last two years, but now they fit again! So that's motivation to keep getting up early and staying motivated. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 8:41PM
How are things goin MDM?.. Besides elliptical workout!..lil.. Gettin up early before work is tough! - Twinklelashes  144.4 #2420 9:58PM
Set my alarm early every morning this week...and never happened once! I'm going to try again this weekend. I'm SO not a morning person! - msdizmaui  521.5 #226 1:11AM
It's a tough balance!.. But if anyone can make it work you can!.. - Twinklelashes  144.4 #2420 9:34AM

Thank you--I have good days and not-do-great ones (felt awful this morning, and my jog went really slowly today). I thought about melatonin, but I wasn't really sure. It's relatively gentle on your body, right? I don't like sleeping pills or Benadryl or any of those because I just hate the feeling of having meds in me (I feel all dehydrated and icky). Maybe I'll buy some and try it every so often. Thank you for the feedback! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 10:07AM

Haha that's exactly the name I wanted for the past Tink race but I also didn't think Disney would like it. We ended up using Team Step in Time. You're welcome to use that if you like it.

I usually don't listen to music as I run but I have a few motivational songs anyway. Two of my favorites happen to be from Disney movies: Life is a Highway from Cars, and Something That I Want from Tangled. The latter's beat matches up with my footfalls so it's very invigorating. If you find a song that matches your stride, use it!
hmmm I am not sure if you will like my music selection lol - i lsiten to house/techno/reggae/tance/dubstep lol if those intrest you let me know i have a nice list:)  - BooEve123  800.9 #121 4:50PM

I also went to Roadrunner to be analyzed and fitted. I got asics and they're pretty comfortable but not perfect. I had a lot of problems at first because I kept twisting my right ankle. I'm starting to think that running and walking form (the way you move your body and land on your feet) is even more important than the shoes. I haven't hurt my ankle badly since I starting landing mid foot while r  More...

My podiatrist had recommended New Balance to me. Go in to a store and have them tell you if you over pronate. That could be part of it. - 415beachgirl  469.0 #263 7:17AM
Thanks! That helps - justcallmeKP  108.8 #2965 7:57PM
There are a LOT of variables...your stride, your form, your pronation, your bone structure, the build of the shoe, etc. Everyone always recommends New Balance, but I've tried three or four pairs and none of them were comfortable. What works for me might not work for you. The absolute best thing to do is go to a podiatrist and have custom insoles made--then, the shoe is not really important because the insole will put your foot in the right position. I've had mine for 8 years! Though my parents' insurance covered it at the time, I would pay out of pocket for new ones if I needed to because they really do change the way I walk. (I have bone structure issues, though). Second-best thing you could do is visit a specialty store, such as Road Runner or Feet Fleet, and have a fitting: they will put you on a treadmill and look at your stride to determine the most comfortable shoe for you. Lastly, you might make an appointment with a running coach--he/she will be able to help you correct your form. In any case, PLEASE try not to worry too much about cost: this is an investment in your health. $200, while it sounds like a lot all at once, is a drop in the bucket when you consider that it will help you be more comfortable and stick with your workouts. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 8:16AM
