Just wondering if anyone has any information (or thoughts) about the non-Cast Member face characters at Disneyland. They give autographs, pose for photos, but do not work officially for/at Disneyland. We've seen Ariel many times and Aurora once so far. Sadly, Aurora looked like a bored high school student. It was sort of sad. Her "line" was quite long. How do the fakes get in? It just seems strang  More...

If they are not CMs then please politely contact a real CM and let them know where you saw this happening. If they really aren't official CM/princesses they aren't allowed to do that.  - TiggersAndTinks  201.3 #2066 1:24PM
We saw "Aurora" yesterday at Snow White Grotto. She had no handler/CM with her. Her wig and costume just looked wrong to us, plus her weird demeanor. I told the first CM I could find and they looked at me like I was nuts. Like why would I even THINK it was an imposter princess. It was sort of embarrassing trying to make my case. πŸ™Ž - esme  234.5 #1637 1:35PM
Next time take a photo and ask if this is a CM? Can you take photos, etc. then they don't think you're criticizing in case if it's the real one.  - secretagentangel  8825.5 #11 3:51PM
I haven't noticed any of this...kinda creepy and sketchy - DarthFairy  754.1 #288 3:43PM
The ones at D23 were great but some thought they were the stars, not the show and blocked traffic. Disney has a policy against this but they do try it.  - secretagentangel  8825.5 #11 3:52PM

Would anyone like to share their strategy for PTN? How long are folks waiting in advance? It's a longish drive for us and it'd be great to come into it knowing what to expect. Maybe start a parade waiting thread? πŸ˜‚ Thanks for any info!

Depends if you wanna see first or second showing. If the first, expect 3+ hours of waiting. Both showings will be busy on Main Street. If you don't care about seeing the fireworks I would recommend seeing the second viewing and doing so away from Main Street. You'll be able to get front row viewing 30-60 minutes prior to show start. - missmimi90  2053.6 #90 11:41AM
Thank you, MissMimi! What about seeing the fireworks away from Main Street and the 2nd parade up by small world? - esme  234.5 #1637 11:46AM
From my experience (I've only seen the shows twice) most of the parade route will be packed with people for fireworks. small World, the Castle and Rivers of America use the same projections. You will only be able to see Matterhorn in its full glory (which is part of the show) from the right side looking toward the castle in the hub and that surrounding area (I'm short so if you are tall it might be completely different viewing experience). You will likely also only see the flying characters from on Main Street or directly behind the castle looking back. If you just wanna see fireworks and missing the matterhorn and characters isn't a huge issue, I would watch the fireworks from where you plan to be for the second Pain the Night showing (since you'll see the projections on Small World too). - missmimi90  2053.6 #90 11:52AM
You can actually get a pretty good view of flying characters from next to Storybook too. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it!! My preference is to watch both PTN and fireworks from the Small World area. It's less congested and makes for easier viewing of the parade.  - thatgirljenn  1881.3 #101 12:10PM
You can view the fireworks from pretty much anywhere in the park. There is no good spot or bad spot, cuz you miss little things everywhere even on main st. But main st is defiantly the most crowdest, although if you sorta wait til the end of the first parade and follow the heard on main st you can get a good spot. 2nd showing of PTN is defiantly less crowded but you still deal with the crowd still trying to leave DL - mini_MINNIE  1173.3 #170 12:02PM
Yesterday as soon as The Soundsational parade was over at about 5 we grabbed a front row spot. By 530 the whole curb on Mainstreet was full. By 7-730 there wasn't any free space on Main St at all. Hopefully this gives you an idea about what to expect for the 8:50 parade - PrincessAsh  267.1 #0 11:51AM
Thanks guys. I'm here tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get a peek at the parade and the fireworks. - Taunton  1886.5 #99 1:33PM

Would someone be so kind as to confirm for me that on 2 parade days, the first parade starts at it's a small world, and the second starts at Town Square? Also, would anyone happen to know what time the Flag Lowering Ceremony begins on Sat.? 4:45p? Thank you!!!

I can confirm that on the 2 parade days the first starts at It's A Small World and the 2nd starts at Town Square. I'm not sure about the flag retreat, though. - MrsDisneyMommy29  280.3 #1144 8:46AM
2 parade days you are correct, unless one of them gets rained out. If the first one is rained out forcing the rainy day calvacade but it dries up for the second, the second parade time would be from Small World to Town Square. I believe that flag retreat is around 4:45. Sometimes it's delayed a little due to the parade. If it rains the flag retreat will not be a big ceremony but just the security detail bringing down the flags and going backstage. - IDVandalSkipperCM  2642.8 #59 9:09AM
Thank you! We are taking my 13 year old daughter's BFF to DL tomorrow for her first time! She's originally from Japan and we thought she might enjoy the American pomp of the Flag Retreat (not "lowering", my bad). Trying to plan the perfect Disney day for her! :) - esme  234.5 #1637 9:42AM
It's a really nice ceremony and always moving. I think it will be fun to see how someone from a different country sees it. - Sarafina  491.7 #471 9:55AM
