I just had a most unsettling interaction with a cast member at Disney Hotel reservation phone line. I called to make a reservation for a trip at Veterans Day. I told the cast member that I wanted the Military rate. She asked if I was active duty, to which I replied retired. Then she asked if I had completed 20 years of service and I said no it was a medical discharge due to an injury. She then tol  More...

I'm confused were you upset you were put on hold behind someone who was on hold prior to you? - missmimi90  2081.6 #95 8:14PM
Oh, I think you are saying that it shouldn't need a supervisor's authorization to make the right decision. Yes?😊 - Alicewhoareyou  2813.7 #63 9:41PM
I was upset that she felt a disabled veteran was not entitled to the same discount as a veteran who put in 20 years. Her first question was if I had put in 20 years service. That is a pretty weird question. I almost expected her to ask the nature of my husbands injuries. She was just really intrusive. She told me the first person in the hold queue had been waiting " only 10 minutes" and I would be third in line.  I have made many reservations at Disney hotels over the years using the military discount and never been given the third degree, just reminded that I would need to show valid ID at check in .   I was upset that she was even questioning what color my ID card was.  It was like she thought there were different levels of retired veterans and she thought I was trying to get something I shouldn't be allowed. What part of " disabled vet" was she having trouble with?  Oh and the reservation....on Veterans Day - DeneciePie  330.4 #857 8:14AM
Follow up:I called Disney reservations this morning and had no trouble making the reservations I wanted. I asked my reservation cast member if it was customary to enquire as to the type of military ID a person requesting a military discount had. She seemed surprised and said  No, her job was just to make reservations. I told her a little of the trouble I had yesterday and she offered to report the situation . I let her know that I felt the person I talked to yesterday needed more training.   Thanks all for letting me rant a bit. I was so shocked. I have never had that kind of experience when requesting a military rate anywhere and really didn't expect it from Disney  - DeneciePie  330.4 #857 1:26PM

Planning my next trip. Last week of August or first half of September? Either way, I can't wait!

Should be less busy in September, but the hours may be shorter and some of the rides may be down for refurbs.  - JediKitty  1387.1 #157 4:36PM
In September watch for Labor day three day weekend. And I think there's a runDisney event then also. - Taunton  3007.7 #58 6:16PM

September 3rd thru 6th is the 10th anniversary of the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon weekend.  There will be an extra 30 thousand people there.  Hotels are already sold out.  Parks will be full of runners and their families.  I would avoid that weekend. - barbwire  7.3 #0 8:43PM

AP question. I keep getting tweets about special AP events, usually AS they are starting. Are they doing these unannounced? Or am I just missing the announcements? Either way, being 350 miles away I will be hoping one will eventually coincide with a planned trip! Yesterday's AP event sounded pretty darn awesome! Were any of you there?

Yeah, we are also from NorCal and we have had APs off and on for 6 or 7 years now, and we rarely are notified of anything.  Off the top of my head, I think the only thing was the previews of Star Tours and Little Mermaid in 2011.  Our APs are registered, email addresses are entered, addresses are correct, everything is current...I don't know what the deal is.  You are not alone, though!  I just read message boards, like MW (especially here, when things are announced, people post about them immediately).   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  713.7 #333 8:45PM
Don't feel bad. You are not alone! I never get the notifications either  :( and registered for all of it.... - TinkerAli  229.7 #1759 8:48PM
Yeah, I remember when we first got APs there was a quarterly magazine, then it went digital, and now I guess it's gone away. We are all signed up for emails, but the only ones I get are when my pass is due for renewal.  Disney knows we all are there as often as we can be anyway.8-) - DeneciePie  330.4 #857 9:30AM

I have been reading on-line about the Adventureland Game. Has anyone done it/them? The Jujus look so cute! I won't be able to come back until October, long after the game ends. I'd love to play vicariously and hear more about it.

@Plumiegirl did it last week. I was there for part of her game and it seemed like a bunch of fun - misschurro  9886.2 #12 3:37PM
It's fun, but will cost you about $75 and most of the day to buy the different jujus. Overall pretty fun. Definitely something different to do. A little bit chaotic. I have an observation. Please read through before replying. I've been on MouseWait for over two years. I live 6 hours away by car so trips are a real treat. I try to post when I am at the Parks but truly, I'm not real consistent. I love the real time features, but to be honest the Lounge has turned into a hang-out for those of you who are fortunate enough to be frequent visitors. You have no idea   More...

If your post gets pushed down by other posts, just bump it yourself by adding a short comment. 'Can anyone answer this, please ' would work. Sometimes posts don't get seen. Sometimes people don't have the answer. Sometimes an answer might be found by reading other posts in the lounge. You're right that people have becomes friends and friendly on here. It would be a pretty boring place otherwise. I do understand how it might feel cliquey to a newcomer. But for those who want to feel a part of things, the answer is to jump in and become a part of the community. There are folks on MW from all over the world. I can think of at least two MWers from Australia who have managed to make themselves part of the fun here. They certainly aren't in the parks all the time. Far from it. If you enjoy a picture that someone has posted, please tell them so. You can also show appreciation my 'thanking' quality posts. By not thanking or commenting on other posts, they will get pushed down.  How this helps! - MacaronMerida  4738.6 #39 6:43PM
I don't think people are intentionally ignoring questions, but I do understand what you mean. I don't post much anymore because I noticed that even when I was in the parks, by the time my pics would load, it would be waaay down the page, due to flooding of pics in the lounge. I definitely don't think people were ignoring my pics/posts. It's just impossible to keep them bumped with the high volume of pics posted daily by people there every day. - RCmom  5235.3 #30 7:14PM
But I love your posts so much, always great photos that offer different perspective :) - ThinkTink23  53.7 #4996 7:34PM
I love to be able to post my pictures tho. It makes me feel like I'm part even when nobody seems to see them - DeneciePie  330.4 #857 7:34PM
Everyone should be able to post their pix. Thats part of what community is all about. Sharing the lounge. Everyone should have equal opportunity to participate. It is so much more fun to see lots of different perspectives from behind the camera. So please post your pix when you are here. I love when out of towners her to go and I know what I can expect from this person or that in respect to the types of pix we will be blessed with. I always enjoy seeing how RCmom's beautiful girls have grown from the last trip. What antics our HandMeAChurroImmaFaint is going to get into. Keeps it fresh and lots of fun in the Lounge. And if you comment on others' posts in the meantime, people will get a chance to get to know you, so when you visit the parks next, we can look forward to your posts too DeneciePie - MacaronMerida  4738.6 #39 8:03PM
I think that sometimes questions go unanswered because we tend to look for pictures, which isn't right.  I am guilty of that myself.  As for when I am in the parks, which is only a few times a year due to living in Texas, I don't post to try to get comments or thank you's, I just post to try to add quality content. For all I care, people can look at my picture and think of the parks and move on, I don't need my ego stroked by thank you's.  I am going to work on answering questions, or if I don't know the answer, just responding so that people do not feel ignored.  This is a community, and we should all be willing to help with even the simplest of questions! - Thumper13  543.4 #443 1:31PM
I always try to answer questions if I know the answer. I'm in the Phoenix area and am not in the park that often. I would say that posts do get pushed down often and if nobody comments on it, they will never see it. If you post late at night and then 100 people post after it, the question might get pushed down. Same thing could happen if it's in the morning. I don't think anybody purposely would not answer. They also might have been afraid if they said nope crowds have been light that the next day they would be overflowing. Crowds can vary and they might have been afraid to give the wrong answer. Or they were in the park and never saw the question. Don't give up on asking questions.  - warchanted  177.5 #2446 7:03PM
This is a good reminder for all of us to periodically check the "Posts with no Comments" link to see if we can either help someone out or bump their posts!  :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  713.7 #333 10:41AM

Hey there, all you Disneyland experts, I have a question I hope you can answer. I have been watching the current crowd numbers from my home in Northern California and I have been seeing numbers in the 60-70 range all week. We usually come in the " off season" but the past few trips we have noticed the crowd numbers are usually 80-90. Are the crowds calculated the same all year? Are we just fabulou  More...

I was surprised two weeks ago that the crowds were relatively light for summer. But I did go on a Saturday. I hear Sundays are actually more crowded due to more Passholder attendance. Saturdays, all passes are blocked except for Premium. Hope this helps! I would always prefer heavier crowds if there are more attractions open. More options to choose from. Just my humble opinion. - Alicewhoareyou  2813.7 #63 5:47PM
Also, if you haven't been during Halloween and Christmastime, I would recommend it. Magical! - Alicewhoareyou  2813.7 #63 5:52PM
We went in June and had some of the lightest crowds we've ever had. We like summer for the hours and the fact the rides are usually running at max capacity. We've noticed when we visit other times of the year the wait can be as long simply because they aren't running full capacity. We do a lot of early mornings, nap, and late nights to get the most out of our trips.  - mommalostone  64.5 #4608 7:14PM
Keep an eye on when all the passes open up. Most local districts return to school the last 2 weeks in August. That means 2 things heavy crowds because folks drop their kids off at Disney as they return to their school jobs or it could get lighter. Hard to guess. This year the crowds were different than before. Heavy grad nights in May till 2 weeks into June then cheap passes were blocked and the end of June was very light. July was not too bad yet it was peak in previous years. I have been out due to medical except I did visit on Wednesday and the lines were at the 55-60 min mark. Good luck  - Plumiegirl  10907.8 #11 8:37PM
I think that there isn't a precise time where the parks are not very crowded, I'm about 1,500 miles away and planning is crucial for me.I've found that the second week of January  and the second week of September is the best time where crowds are ok, a maximum 45 minute wait...Hope this helps you - CaptainMouse777  12.9 #10490 8:44PM
