Accidents happen I always worry about things falling out of the rides even in the belonging holders. Don't take the negative comments to heart. Cause I'm sure those people have made mistakes in their lifetime. If they can't say something nice they shouldn't say anything at all!!  - bamanda29  0.3 #85510 8:01AM

I know it's hard to shrug off the negative comments. I posted info from an article once thinking the information was new, but the date on the article was from last year. Geez, you'd think I'd done something terrible. I didn't comment for ages after that. I guess you just have to take a breath and blow them off! Besides, this isn't the kind of mistake someone repeats ;) - Yeti_Ing  62.5 #4164 9:26AM

I love the Up one, but I'll have to watch for it on eBay since I won't be back till September. Sometimes it's a real disappointment living too far away and wanting to collect pins!  That one just looks like an old photo I have

Are these available outside the parks? Like downtown Disney? Today is my last day with a ticket into the parks :( and I really want the Up pin. - dannythemexican  36.6 #0 5:37PM

I was upset that she felt a disabled veteran was not entitled to the same discount as a veteran who put in 20 years. Her first question was if I had put in 20 years service. That is a pretty weird question. I almost expected her to ask the nature of my husbands injuries. She was just really intrusive. She told me the first person in the hold queue had been waiting " only 10 minutes" and I would be third in line. Β I have made many reservations at Disney hotels over the years using the military discount and never been given the third degree, just reminded that I would need to show valid ID at check in . Β  I was upset that she was even questioning what color my ID card was. Β It was like she thought there were different levels of retired veterans and she thought I was trying to get something I shouldn't be allowed. What part of " disabled vet" was she having trouble with? Β Oh and the reservation....on Veterans Day - DeneciePie  327.9 #705 8:14AM

Should be less busy in September, but the hours may be shorter and some of the rides may be down for refurbs.  - JediKitty  885.8 #182 4:36PM

September 3rd thru 6th is the 10th anniversary of the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon weekend.  There will be an extra 30 thousand people there.  Hotels are already sold out.  Parks will be full of runners and their families.  I would avoid that weekend. - barbwire  5.8 #0 8:43PM

I would just be thrilled if there was ever an AP Event when I was there!  Some people really don't understand how fortunate they are!  In 5 years of having an AP the only perk I have gotten was when I won the lottery to get to see Carsland perform-opening. Those are some precious memories and photos! It was worth the $$$ it cost to make an extra trip down. Be happy

I don't understand all the complaining at these events. I've seen people yell at others to hurry up with their pictures, pushing small children out if the way, and generally making these poor cast members lives miserable for things they have no control over. These are free special events to show Disney's appreciation for us. I guess it's just the new generation's sense of entitlement but I will be standing back saying "I told you so" when they decide to just do less AP events or just stop altogether due to the backlash and complains. And as far as the FP system, they said they are working the bugs out through trial and error. And let's try to remember that Disney does not cater to just AP holders. We are but a small percent of their guests. Maybe we can try to share the magic. Let's not ruin it for the people who just want to keep loving Disney. M'kay? - SpiritOfAdventure  1042.1 #164 6:39PM
πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ - DisneyOnesie  621.2 #302 6:45PM
Its just like anything they change, it is very hard for people to accept change.  but also, people are more pushy and not so considerate on being kind to others or CM's because they all forget they are not the only one wanting whatever it is.  they are changing the DAS tomorrow, and I have been part of the pilot being linked to AP and it is a good thing, however it will take some getting used to, and people won't be able to take advantage of it by getting too many passes.  and everyone will have to get a wait time pass no matter the disability (this is my understanding of it) but it should be fair for everyone anyway.  I wonder if they bring in all the changes before Christmas to practice on the crowds while everyone is hopefully in a good mood!! - secretagentangel  1695.4 #87 6:50PM

Agree. The AP appreciation events are such a privilege and we are lucky to be chosen to be the guinea pigs for new things!  - hleclair  55.4 #4349 6:58PM
Sadly, some APers are too comfortable--there's very little shame. They know the ins and outs of how the park runs, and exploit loopholes that tourists aren't aware of, or walk around with a holier than thou attitude because DL is their playground, and they think that somehow makes them better than others--many times they are diminishing the experience for someone else (butterfly effect). Β It's clear that Disney needs the AP options, but even if it's only a small portion of the total amount of AP holders, it starts to overtake the culture of the park. Β  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  592.6 #320 6:59PM
Spoonful_O_Sugar I completely agree! I will admit that I use some of  the loopholes I know about; but when Disney finds out about them and fixes them, I don't get mad. I figure it was nice while it lasted. But like I said, it's this false sense of entitlement that some AP holders have. They don't realize there are people who live far and can't go as often as we do and would kill for the opportunity to go to these events. Probably why they got rid of the So Cal select. Because I don't see how making more money is a bad thing. Just weeding out some of the bad locals. It sucks that some of the true Disney lovers will suffer but it is what it is.  - SpiritOfAdventure  1042.1 #164 7:13PM
SpiritOfAdventure I agree with all that, sadly it's probably a small percentage of ap that act like that, but that attitude has an big impact  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  592.6 #320 7:33PM
I totally agree, I've only been to 1 of these in 4 years and wish I could have been there.  I think everyone just needs to be patient and wait for the kinks to work out.  If you are expecting perfection, please don't try the new system until a few months have gone by. - Sarafina  490.3 #401 8:56AM
This reminds me of the time The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early The ship was the pride of the American side Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most With a crew and good captain well seasoned Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms When they left fully loaded for Cleveland Then later that night when the ship's bell rang Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'? The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound When the wave broke over the railing And every man knew, as the captain did too 'Twas the witch of November come stealin' The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait When the gales of November came slashin' When afternoon came it was freezing rain In the face of a hurricane west wind When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck Sayin' "Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya" At seven PM a main hatchway caved in He said, "Fellas, it's been good to know ya" The captain wired in he had water comin' in And the good ship and crew was in peril And later that night when his lights went out of sight Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald Does anyone know where the love of God goes When the waves turn the minutes to hours? The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her They might have split up or they might have capsized They may have broke deep and took water And all that remains is the faces and the names Of the wives and the sons and the daughters Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings In the rooms of her ice-water mansion Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams The islands and bays are for sportsmen And farther below, Lake Ontario Takes in what Lake Erie can send her And the iron boats go as the mariners all know With the gales of November remembered In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral The church bell chimed 'til it rang twenty-nine times For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee Superior, they said, never gives up her dead When the gales of November come early - Dave  12805.9 #2 2:37PM

I remember waiting near a plant on Royal Street near the back stairs to the apartment (still the art gallery back then) for a chance to watch Fantasmic! from the balcony. We thought we'd been duped until another couple who'd been standing near us and eyeing us suspiciously finally asked if we were waiting for the "special seats." Sure enough, a cast member came up and led us all up the back stairs, through the apartment, and out onto the balcony to watch the show. No cost - just had to show up at the right plant. Great way to watch the show and a great memory of the park! - joebriz  112.7 #3279 11:37PM
joebriz I have never heard of that before! By the time I started going, it was already the dream suite - missmimi90  1982.0 #70 2:55PM
missmimi90 Dating myself here but it must have been back around 1992-1993.... - joebriz  112.7 #3279 4:22PM
Ahh ok joebriz I was just a toddler at the time lol - missmimi90  1982.0 #70 4:37PM
Oh cool.  I like the dining package idea and that you can choose the showing.  And I like that they're utilizing Aladdin's Oasis.  I'm looking forward to hearing more-I think that's the option we will go with the first time we try it out.  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  592.6 #320 3:54PM
That's the option we are doing because of affordability but we also like that it's grab and go and you still get a salad, entree, dessert and bread so it's perfect! - missmimi90  1982.0 #70 3:56PM
Sounds tasty!  Please post pix of the meal. - MsTikiMermadam  333.2 #679 2:40AM
I will! - missmimi90  1982.0 #70 2:54PM
We love Fantasmic, but usually just grab a spot at the last minute on the occasions when our timing jibes.  Will that still be possible, I wonder?  I'll be watching to see how this works out. IMHO the fast pass system for WOC doesn't work unless you are also willing to spend at least an hour holding a spot. Longer if you are short like me. If you only get a few days a year, spending that kind of time on one attraction sometimes doesn't seem like the best use of time. I've been about six times but only saw the show once due to kids on shoulders ( I'm seriously short). - DeneciePie  327.9 #705 6:20PM

I know! It's just amazing! I always have to go home and bake a batch!  Today I found that the Glades seasonal candles come in Gingerbread! I can close my eyes and be there!

I have a candle that smells just like it! - DisneyPiratePrincess  202.2 #1883 9:15PM
Do you close your eyes and smell it and pretend your at DL? - philliprocks  1151.5 #141 10:42PM
Or do you tell everyone that comes to your house "smell my candle!" - philliprocks  1151.5 #141 10:44PM
Both!  Except I say "close your eyes I want you to smell something".... Tends to make people a little nervous.... πŸ˜‚ - DisneyPiratePrincess  202.2 #1883 4:29PM
