I would just be thrilled if there was ever an AP Event when I was there!  Some people really don't understand how fortunate they are!  In 5 years of having an AP the only perk I have gotten was when I won the lottery to get to see Carsland perform-opening. Those are some precious memories and photos! It was worth the $$$ it cost to make an extra trip down. Be happy

I don't understand all the complaining at these events. I've seen people yell at others to hurry up with their pictures, pushing small children out if the way, and generally making these poor cast members lives miserable for things they have no control over. These are free special events to show Disney's appreciation for us. I guess it's just the new generation's sense of entitlement but I will be standing back saying "I told you so" when they decide to just do less AP events or just stop altogether due to the backlash and complains. And as far as the FP system, they said they are working the bugs out through trial and error. And let's try to remember that Disney does not cater to just AP holders. We are but a small percent of their guests. Maybe we can try to share the magic. Let's not ruin it for the people who just want to keep loving Disney. M'kay? - SpiritOfAdventure  1029.4 #152 6:39PM
πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ - DisneyOnesie  589.4 #301 6:45PM
Its just like anything they change, it is very hard for people to accept change.  but also, people are more pushy and not so considerate on being kind to others or CM's because they all forget they are not the only one wanting whatever it is.  they are changing the DAS tomorrow, and I have been part of the pilot being linked to AP and it is a good thing, however it will take some getting used to, and people won't be able to take advantage of it by getting too many passes.  and everyone will have to get a wait time pass no matter the disability (this is my understanding of it) but it should be fair for everyone anyway.  I wonder if they bring in all the changes before Christmas to practice on the crowds while everyone is hopefully in a good mood!! - secretagentangel  1326.0 #105 6:50PM

A- freaking- men!  - missmimi90  1606.7 #87 6:56PM
Agree. The AP appreciation events are such a privilege and we are lucky to be chosen to be the guinea pigs for new things!  - hleclair  42.9 #4668 6:58PM
Sadly, some APers are too comfortable--there's very little shame. They know the ins and outs of how the park runs, and exploit loopholes that tourists aren't aware of, or walk around with a holier than thou attitude because DL is their playground, and they think that somehow makes them better than others--many times they are diminishing the experience for someone else (butterfly effect). Β It's clear that Disney needs the AP options, but even if it's only a small portion of the total amount of AP holders, it starts to overtake the culture of the park. Β  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  563.7 #316 6:59PM
Spoonful_O_Sugar I completely agree! I will admit that I use some of  the loopholes I know about; but when Disney finds out about them and fixes them, I don't get mad. I figure it was nice while it lasted. But like I said, it's this false sense of entitlement that some AP holders have. They don't realize there are people who live far and can't go as often as we do and would kill for the opportunity to go to these events. Probably why they got rid of the So Cal select. Because I don't see how making more money is a bad thing. Just weeding out some of the bad locals. It sucks that some of the true Disney lovers will suffer but it is what it is.  - SpiritOfAdventure  1029.4 #152 7:13PM
SpiritOfAdventure I agree with all that, sadly it's probably a small percentage of ap that act like that, but that attitude has an big impact  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  563.7 #316 7:33PM
I totally agree, I've only been to 1 of these in 4 years and wish I could have been there.  I think everyone just needs to be patient and wait for the kinks to work out.  If you are expecting perfection, please don't try the new system until a few months have gone by. - Sarafina  459.3 #417 8:56AM
This reminds me of the time The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early The ship was the pride of the American side Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most With a crew and good captain well seasoned Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms When they left fully loaded for Cleveland Then later that night when the ship's bell rang Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'? The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound When the wave broke over the railing And every man knew, as the captain did too 'Twas the witch of November come stealin' The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait When the gales of November came slashin' When afternoon came it was freezing rain In the face of a hurricane west wind When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck Sayin' "Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya" At seven PM a main hatchway caved in He said, "Fellas, it's been good to know ya" The captain wired in he had water comin' in And the good ship and crew was in peril And later that night when his lights went out of sight Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald Does anyone know where the love of God goes When the waves turn the minutes to hours? The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her They might have split up or they might have capsized They may have broke deep and took water And all that remains is the faces and the names Of the wives and the sons and the daughters Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings In the rooms of her ice-water mansion Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams The islands and bays are for sportsmen And farther below, Lake Ontario Takes in what Lake Erie can send her And the iron boats go as the mariners all know With the gales of November remembered In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral The church bell chimed 'til it rang twenty-nine times For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee Superior, they said, never gives up her dead When the gales of November come early - Dave  12078.5 #2 2:37PM

It's this Tuesday. There's also a KOST private party on Thursday. You have to win these tickets. - Superspacemountainfan  82.8 #3684 1:22PM
Yeah they will have you show your wristbands to enter lands and attractions after park closes to the public. I believe they also do a sweep to push folks out of Main Street after a while but since this is the first AP expiration event taking place in DL as opposed to DCA, I'm not 100% sure on that - missmimi90  1606.7 #87 3:21PM

When mine. We're teens I had a light jacket with good sized pockets. Most teens love beef jerky, trail mix etc for snacks. We would tie the jackets around our middles during the warm part of the day. Small water bottles are easier to carry, refill often. Hats n glasses are a must as is extra battery for phone/s. Have fun!  Make sure you have a list of everyone's must do attractions and a meet  More...

We love Fantasmic, but usually just grab a spot at the last minute on the occasions when our timing jibes.  Will that still be possible, I wonder?  I'll be watching to see how this works out. I remember waiting near a plant on Royal Street near the back stairs to the apartment (still the art gallery back then) for a chance to watch Fantasmic! from the balcony. We thought we'd been duped until another couple who'd been standing near us and eyeing us suspiciously finally asked if we were waiting for the "special seats." Sure enough, a cast member came up and led us all up the back stairs, through the apartment, and out onto the balcony to watch the show. No cost - just had to show up at the right plant. Great way to watch the show and a great memory of the park! - joebriz  31.4 #5274 11:37PM

I would think the weekend before would be better than the weekend of thanksgiving   Any weekend there is an event is packed

I know it's frustrating, but the crowd levels have shifted considerably in the last couple of years--so much so that it seems like even people who visit several times a week are caught off guard sometimes.  It will be crowded both weekends (run weekends are always busy and many schools take the whole week off for Thanksgiving).  I am not sure that there's any way to know exactly which one will be worse--I wish I had better answers for you!  We have started going into every trip with the mindset that it will just be crowded and we have worked out ways to circumvent the busiest times in the parks, in order to make the most of our days.  Arrive at rope drop, and go on all your "must-do attractions in the first few hours. Take a break midday, and come back to have dinner and watch a show, and maybe try to get a few fast passes.  When things feel awful, sit down and have a cup of tea/coffee or hop on the train and circle around to regroup.  Good luck!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  563.7 #316 3:40PM
Oh, also: take note of when parades and shows are going to be ending, and plan on avoiding those areas until things calm down.  Fireworks from IASW are lovely, and if you jet over to the Toontown train station as they end, it's a much less stressful situation than trying to walk through the Hub.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  563.7 #316 3:42PM

And keep to the right, hang on yo each other and walk briskly with the crowds, using shortcuts whenever you can. And if it gets too crowded, sit away from the crowd and let one person be your runner for fast passes and food!  If all law fails, go to a show or dinner! - secretagentangel  1326.0 #105 10:45PM

I have used DLR express from John Wayne without issues.  I plan on using in next month too. I hope this provides a little help - MermaidHunter  105.6 #3343 2:47PM

I have used them for transportation round trip from LAX for our last 3 trips to DL. I love them. It's easy to catch at the airport and have always been on time picking us up to return to the airport.  The experience has been hassle free and I definatly recommend. - Nikkia2020  7.2 #12053 9:56PM

I 'think' we will be there, #1daughter, grandson and me, but if #2 daughter gets job she's up for she might come as well.  Can I call that an RSVP?

We will probably send out the discounted link on Monday since we have to compile the emails and send it out to everyone on the list. Thanks! - Admin 12:06PM
@@@admin is this to rsvp for the main event or to get discounted ticket, sorry for the confusion - pikarich  3352.3 #31 3:14PM
