I am kind of bummed.  Once again Disney offers something that works out great for local APs and shits on those of us who pay for an AP and get to come only a few times a year!   We pay the same as you who live nearby but very rarely get to claim any benefit from these "AP events".  We don't even get the silly Mickey Monitor anymore! Those of us APs who are NOT in the Anaheim area ar  More...

My current Deluxe pass expires mid January. Since I'm from northern Cal and only get down 2-3 times a year I won't be renewing. I have loved the convenience of monthly payments. But really, for twice a year I am better off just buying passes. Or maybe I'll explore the other theme parks nearby instead I grew up on Disney Magic and am now the grandma with the Disney fetishBut I can do some  More...

As someone who doesn't live in SoCal and uses my AP only a couple or a few times a year, the increase really doesn't bother me at all. I have a Premium AP. The current cost of that pass was $779. New Signature Pass is $849 and it includes free PhotoPass access. This is actually a better deal than what I currently have for me. (I did just renew my Premium for $719, so I won't be getting the new pass, anyway.). Not everyone lives locally and can be at the parks 200 days each year. I have never gone during the Christmas break because, frankly, the crowds have scared me off. That is why we do thanksgiving when we want the holiday vibe. Don't the holidays begin around November 11th each year?  So that is about two months' worth of holidays for those who wish to enjoy that time.  If I were to renew my pass next year, I would simply get the Signature pass. I don't need the highest level just for two weeks at Christmas. I understand those who aren't happy. But, I do think it doesn't have to be as horrible as everyone is making it out to be. Disney is a business. They are in the business of making money, right along with letting you make memories. The new normal for some may have to be to see Disneyland as the treat that it is for much of the country or world who does not have it in their backyard. Hopefully, our lives are full of so many things. Disney is one part of it. It shouldn't be everything. Not trying to tick anyone off here. I do think their timing stinks with this. But, just wanted to show  that there is another perspective and way of looking at this. ๐Ÿ˜Š - MeridaFan  4244.2 #38 10:51AM
Yes this makes sense but for people who live in So Cal I fell the photo pass should be an option because I really never use it.  - DisneylandDisneyland  489.2 #465 10:54AM
AP prices have gone up every year. SoCal people have had the choice of two APs that no one in the rest of the world have been able to purchase. It is not a necessity for people to buy the most expensive pass for themselves.  So you do have other options that others do not. They also have given special discounted tickets to SoCal people throughout the year. I think those are great options for those who live down there and cannot afford the more expensive passes. Again? This is another viewpoint. And I realize there is only one SoCal pass available now. And I have no idea if they will continue with the other one indefinitely. Just trying to point out that there are actually some positives for some people here. Tourists bring in a lot of money to Disney. Lots of us enjoy using the Photo Pass system.  - MeridaFan  4244.2 #38 11:03AM

Correction I go 201 times - pikarich  6233.9 #22 11:09AM
I could not agree more, MeridaFan.  Also, it doesn't have to be all or nothing!  I understand the AP price is high, but that doesn't mean people have to swear off Disney forever.  Some people would kill to go just once a year. - Thumper13  517.1 #434 11:11AM
MeridaFan...I agree with you. We live in Oregon and, although we're not happy about the increase, we see why it was needed. I would have liked to know ahead of time, though. We still think you get your money's worth of quality, family entertainment. And if some of this increase goes to pay cast members and adds more jobs for new cast members and Star Wars Land for everyone I'm all for it. That said...we don't have young kids at home anymore and don't have to pay for them, along with all the extras while in the park. I can definitely see and agree with both sides. You have to make the best decision for your own family.  - GrandCircleTour  363.9 #665 11:26AM
We have 2 AP holders who renewed and upgraded to Deluxe in June, so they will probably need to rethink their budgets for the next time. We are having issues with budget and rooms right now... Does anyone know why there can't be a 6th person in a hotel room at the resort for a standard or premium room like Woods/Courtyard at the Grand Californian? We are wanting to be a group of 6 adults and a second room for just one additional person just seems excessive! (I think room occupancy max is 5 people?.) Mom has her heart set on the Grand, but we'd only be staying the one night with Disneyland potentially open until 12am, so only about 6-8 hours of sleep. We'll get a great AP discount, but trying to convince everyone to pay isn't easily justified for everyone! Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ป - Catski23  30.3 #6216 11:46AM

it has been nonstop peak crowds this year, no abating like in the past, no off season days. Anaheim is not passing anything on to sc residents. I vote and live in anaheim. The council took a loss with the gate tax. Disney is using some of the money to fund the new star wars, land purchases, new high rise parking structure, and since they can get the money, they are trying to reducee peak crowds. So do your homework and know the facts. I have lived in anaheim for 54 years in the shadow of the park. Its a private business and they are doing what they need to do. The โ€œour parkโ€ mentality is changing. Our streets are so congested with cars it takes me 45 min to an hour to drive 6 miles to my job in santa ana. I have not used the gridlock freeways for the last 5 years, it seems that everyone that left CA has come back all at once. I hope price increases will slow down the crowds but I doubt that. Disney must have great actuaries. - Plumiegirl  10358.3 #9 11:30PM
I just genuinely wish they had a kids AP, it just doesn't seem right that my 3 yo will be paying the same ticket price and can't go on anything other than Fantasyland rides.  - bellapistola  158.4 #2656 1:30AM

I was just thinking this. With a baby on the way it just seems funny that I will have to buy an annual pass for them at 3. Really what is the difference between 2-3. They are still restricted to the same attractions.  - DisneyBrideยฐOยฐ  448.9 #517 10:06AM

I would just be thrilled if there was ever an AP Event when I was there!  Some people really don't understand how fortunate they are!  In 5 years of having an AP the only perk I have gotten was when I won the lottery to get to see Carsland perform-opening. Those are some precious memories and photos! It was worth the $$$ it cost to make an extra trip down. Be happy

I don't understand all the complaining at these events. I've seen people yell at others to hurry up with their pictures, pushing small children out if the way, and generally making these poor cast members lives miserable for things they have no control over. These are free special events to show Disney's appreciation for us. I guess it's just the new generation's sense of entitlement but I will be standing back saying "I told you so" when they decide to just do less AP events or just stop altogether due to the backlash and complains. And as far as the FP system, they said they are working the bugs out through trial and error. And let's try to remember that Disney does not cater to just AP holders. We are but a small percent of their guests. Maybe we can try to share the magic. Let's not ruin it for the people who just want to keep loving Disney. M'kay? - SpiritOfAdventure  1058.0 #184 6:39PM

Its just like anything they change, it is very hard for people to accept change.  but also, people are more pushy and not so considerate on being kind to others or CM's because they all forget they are not the only one wanting whatever it is.  they are changing the DAS tomorrow, and I have been part of the pilot being linked to AP and it is a good thing, however it will take some getting used to, and people won't be able to take advantage of it by getting too many passes.  and everyone will have to get a wait time pass no matter the disability (this is my understanding of it) but it should be fair for everyone anyway.  I wonder if they bring in all the changes before Christmas to practice on the crowds while everyone is hopefully in a good mood!! - secretagentangel  7475.9 #13 6:50PM

A- freaking- men!  - missmimi90  2034.2 #86 6:56PM
Agree. The AP appreciation events are such a privilege and we are lucky to be chosen to be the guinea pigs for new things!  - hleclair  59.4 #4605 6:58PM
Sadly, some APers are too comfortable--there's very little shame. They know the ins and outs of how the park runs, and exploit loopholes that tourists aren't aware of, or walk around with a holier than thou attitude because DL is their playground, and they think that somehow makes them better than others--many times they are diminishing the experience for someone else (butterfly effect). ย It's clear that Disney needs the AP options, but even if it's only a small portion of the total amount of AP holders, it starts to overtake the culture of the park. ย  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  642.3 #335 6:59PM
Spoonful_O_Sugar I completely agree! I will admit that I use some of  the loopholes I know about; but when Disney finds out about them and fixes them, I don't get mad. I figure it was nice while it lasted. But like I said, it's this false sense of entitlement that some AP holders have. They don't realize there are people who live far and can't go as often as we do and would kill for the opportunity to go to these events. Probably why they got rid of the So Cal select. Because I don't see how making more money is a bad thing. Just weeding out some of the bad locals. It sucks that some of the true Disney lovers will suffer but it is what it is.  - SpiritOfAdventure  1058.0 #184 7:13PM
SpiritOfAdventure I agree with all that, sadly it's probably a small percentage of ap that act like that, but that attitude has an big impact  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  642.3 #335 7:33PM
I totally agree, I've only been to 1 of these in 4 years and wish I could have been there.  I think everyone just needs to be patient and wait for the kinks to work out.  If you are expecting perfection, please don't try the new system until a few months have gone by. - Sarafina  491.7 #463 8:56AM
This reminds me of the time The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead When the skies of November turn gloomy With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed When the gales of November came early The ship was the pride of the American side Coming back from some mill in Wisconsin As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most With a crew and good captain well seasoned Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms When they left fully loaded for Cleveland Then later that night when the ship's bell rang Could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'? The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound When the wave broke over the railing And every man knew, as the captain did too 'Twas the witch of November come stealin' The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait When the gales of November came slashin' When afternoon came it was freezing rain In the face of a hurricane west wind When suppertime came, the old cook came on deck Sayin' "Fellas, it's too rough to feed ya" At seven PM a main hatchway caved in He said, "Fellas, it's been good to know ya" The captain wired in he had water comin' in And the good ship and crew was in peril And later that night when his lights went out of sight Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald Does anyone know where the love of God goes When the waves turn the minutes to hours? The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her They might have split up or they might have capsized They may have broke deep and took water And all that remains is the faces and the names Of the wives and the sons and the daughters Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings In the rooms of her ice-water mansion Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams The islands and bays are for sportsmen And farther below, Lake Ontario Takes in what Lake Erie can send her And the iron boats go as the mariners all know With the gales of November remembered In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral The church bell chimed 'til it rang twenty-nine times For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee Superior, they said, never gives up her dead When the gales of November come early - Dave  13820.4 #4 2:37PM

Be happy - DeneciePie  330.4 #791 7:29PM

When does this annual pass holder event take place?  - zonfire  47.9 #5045 1:05PM
It's this Tuesday. There's also a KOST private party on Thursday. You have to win these tickets. - Superspacemountainfan  92.4 #3801 1:22PM
Yeah they will have you show your wristbands to enter lands and attractions after park closes to the public. I believe they also do a sweep to push folks out of Main Street after a while but since this is the first AP expiration event taking place in DL as opposed to DCA, I'm not 100% sure on that - missmimi90  2034.2 #86 3:21PM
If anyone had an extra space for 11-18-14, I would love to go. Let me know plz - Plumiegirl  10358.3 #9 3:52PM
The registration has names and Pass numbers. It says only ones on registration can attend. I'm forcing my son to go since it's his pass and he has to go. I tried to add someone afterwards and couldn't.  Sorry. - Winnie111286  20140.3 #3 4:26PM

When mine. We're teens I had a light jacket with good sized pockets. Most teens love beef jerky, trail mix etc for snacks. We would tie the jackets around our middles during the warm part of the day. Small water bottles are easier to carry, refill often. Hats n glasses are a must as is extra battery for phone/s. Have fun!  Make sure you have a list of everyone's must do attractions and a meet  More...

Welcome to mousewait. All these suggestions are good. Just read 2 adults and 2 teens from 8 a.m. to midnight. You will need redbull 5 hour energy. Starbucks. Churro corn dogs and lots of patience - grumpyinphx  739.2 #281 8:40AM
You forgot sunglasses and a chimichanga..... Cause turkey legs are too messy.  - NascarDave  324.0 #824 1:03PM

You'd be surprised with how much you DON'T need.  Carrying all that extra stuff is rough on one's back, neck, and shoulders.  Minimize and enjoy!  - susieQzee  555.8 #394 3:21PM

We love Fantasmic, but usually just grab a spot at the last minute on the occasions when our timing jibes.  Will that still be possible, I wonder?  I'll be watching to see how this works out. IMHO the fast pass system for WOC doesn't work unless you are also willing to spend at least an hour holding a spot. Longer if you are short like me. I remember waiting near a plant on Royal Street near the back stairs to the apartment (still the art gallery back then) for a chance to watch Fantasmic! from the balcony. We thought we'd been duped until another couple who'd been standing near us and eyeing us suspiciously finally asked if we were waiting for the "special seats." Sure enough, a cast member came up and led us all up the back stairs, through the apartment, and out onto the balcony to watch the show. No cost - just had to show up at the right plant. Great way to watch the show and a great memory of the park! - joebriz  190.4 #2182 11:37PM
joebriz I have never heard of that before! By the time I started going, it was already the dream suite - missmimi90  2034.2 #86 2:55PM

Oh cool.  I like the dining package idea and that you can choose the showing.  And I like that they're utilizing Aladdin's Oasis.  I'm looking forward to hearing more-I think that's the option we will go with the first time we try it out.  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  642.3 #335 3:54PM
That's the option we are doing because of affordability but we also like that it's grab and go and you still get a salad, entree, dessert and bread so it's perfect! - missmimi90  2034.2 #86 3:56PM
Sounds tasty!  Please post pix of the meal. - MsTikiMermadam  1352.7 #141 2:40AM
