I don't think the DL half is the run to go for a PR for that reason.  The parks are only during miles 2-4, so there will plenty if time to just run.

Maybe just skip for the first 4 miles then run to the stadium and back. The surface streets of anaheim are not fun so you will want to be moving fast. - georgieporgie  183.6 #2109 9:08AM

Oh, that's good to know about miles2-4. I would like to do the half maybe next year. The 10K filled so fast that only the 5K was available. I am guessing that much of the 5K will mostly cover the parks? If that is the case, then I will slow down, and enjoy! I am sure I'll figure it out this time around and know for January's run! Thanks so much for answering! - 7mouskedoodles  361.0 #585 9:45AM
Yeah, the 5K is all in the parks.  I would enjoy the run then, and go more slowly than normal!  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  578.1 #319 9:50AM
This is my first DL race, but only the first few miles are in the parks, so my plan is to try to jog/walk a negative split, and run the second half (which will be off-property) quicker than the first half.  But we will see how it goes, lol - Spoonful_O_Sugar  578.1 #319 9:49AM
That sounds like a good idea. It's too bad that it wasn't the last two miles in the parks. I would like to get all the hard part of the run done first, then enjoy the parks at the end of the run. I usually like to save my favorite song for the end of the run.(it follows the same idea.) - 7mouskedoodles  361.0 #585 11:18AM
I am doing the 10k...my 1st. My hubby is on photo duty, so we'll be going slow. Not that I'm a fast runner anyway 😊 I don't want to miss a second worrying about how fast I'm going. I just want to finish! Good luck to you! - goofymom2boys  1455.3 #98 10:53AM

Former Naval Reserve, current family practice PA.

Hey Doc, I think you and many other MWers know what my wife and I do... My wife is an acute care nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology as well as an associate professor for UCSF's masters of nursing program. That right, I married one incredibly smart and caring person. As for me, I am a career naval officer with 23+ years of active duty having spent 19 of those years serving with explosive ordnance disposal mobile units. I am medically retiring out this year after losing my ulna nerve in my right arm in addition to having the arm dislocated, rotator cuff torn, shoulder impingement, dislocated rib, 1 compressed vertebrae and 1 herniated disc due to an IED encounter. I'm doing much better after my last procedure which almost a year ago...thank you all who supported me when I did the Tough Mudder last month and I am running Sausalito's Save the Seals run tomorrow, as well as Pleasanton's Tri for Real triathlon and Half Moon Bay's Splash and Dash in September! - BombFrogFormerCM  845.3 #194 8:44PM
Thank you for you and your wife's service to so many! - DreadPiratesRogers  844.7 #195 8:47PM
Thank you both for your service!! - DisneyDavidEMT  2083.3 #63 8:50PM
BF, you are a walking miracle!! Totally my hero!!! My son's GF is also a RN...she is going to start the NP program here in the next month in Sonoma. I love the medical field! My next daughter is supposed to start at an assisted living residence here in the next couple of weeks in their restaurant. She is considering becoming a CNA. - 2BeignetOrNot2Beignet  1118.2 #142 8:51PM
It was a little weird but I showed HMACIF my surgery and shrapnel scars on my arm and that I cannot fully extend it when we met up on Maui...it's too hot to wear long sleeves and I'm becoming less self conscience about it thanks to my wife and minis! - BombFrogFormerCM  845.3 #194 8:57PM
Wear your scars proudly! I for one thank you for all that you did to suffer them for us - DisneyDavidEMT  2083.3 #63 8:59PM
Thanks Doc. I would walk thru far worse to be there for Jack...he is my little hero! - BombFrogFormerCM  845.3 #194 9:06PM
Your scars are your badges of courage! It brings tears to my eyes to think of the struggles that your family has had to go through to protect us! I'm proud to call you a friend! - 2BeignetOrNot2Beignet  1118.2 #142 9:06PM
I thank god for this special woman who married me! Since we were married she has dealt with a total of 2 tours in Iraq, 2 tours in Afghanistan, 1 WestPac cruise and my being sent on SAR (search and rescue) duty right after Hurricane Katrina--riding out Huricane Rita. I was not with her when Jack was diagnosed with high functioning autism and I can't imagine how hard that was to find out about while I was deployed, because she was concerned about me concentrating on my duty she didn't tell me until I was done with that tour and heading stateside. - BombFrogFormerCM  845.3 #194 9:24PM
Isn't it crazy that out of all the people in the world we have been fortunate enough to find someone that gets us through thick and thin... Support in times of health crisis, even though they may be going through something too, they always put us first. I think that's why my marriage is so special... My husband and I always put the other one first... I don't want to say like a competition, but for lack of a better word ill go with it😊 I love that your wife is a healing force in your familie's life... The children are truly blessed to have such loving and positive role models in their lives. - 2BeignetOrNot2Beignet  1118.2 #142 12:09AM

Only way to do it IMHO. Yes snacks are good, but sitting in a chair away from the riff-raff is worth every cent.

Was debating the same thing. Did it eons ago when it was up in the gallery and am contemplating it myself. I have mobility issues that would make this ideal...but the $$ has me thinking I might skip it. The reviews I've read here have been positive. Use the search feature. - ythdudette  1296.9 #113 9:10AM

If you have an iPhone I recommend downloading the Nike + running app. It keeps track of your progress, talks to while your running, gives words of encouragement, and you can keep track of friends to monitor their progress and compete with them. I think it's a well put together app, and can help provide the motivation you're seeking.

Why can't they do a "Zumba dance with Disney" or something like that? I'm also NOT a runner so I admire all of you runners out there! - MissAmericaSings  381.5 #542 11:14AM

- Dave  12489.0 #2 7:17PM

As all AP holders only get one shot for early entry at each park, the deeper into summer you can wait the better. We went on the first day (19th) and it was already nuts at 7am. You should be good in July, most local APers will have most likely already used their DCA early entry.

I went today the wait for Stand By Radiator Spring Racers was a 45 min wait for single rider it was less than 10 min wait. All other attractions were pretty much walk on's or 10 min wait.  - Cherry91  434.3 #454 2:31PM

it's amazing to me how two people can have two different experiences for the same event. I went on the first day too and had a great time. I hope that even though it was nuts you and your group still had fun? - howdyhowdyhowdy  97.9 #3477 2:36AM
Thank you for all of the great information! I really had no idea what to expect so it's great to get all of you perspectives! We'll be walking from our hotel so we'll miss the DTD mess, so that's good! I hope most of the locals will have already visited and we'll get to have a nice relaxing visit to Carsland :) - disneychick23  310.6 #772 12:08AM

Saw this the other morning while driving to work, was wondering what the heck it was. Is it really associated with Disney?

Just did some reading on this. My guess is it's an effect for shanghai disney. Just a guess though - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #173 12:39PM

Also speculation that it's involved with Disney Animal Kingdom Avatar project.
