If you give each artist their own freedom to stylize their drawings and not tell them to stick to the exact specs you'll get differences every time. How many stylized versions of Mickey are there? I think the drawing was meant to show an artistic rendering of the dress. Ever seen a fashion house's renderings of dresses they intend to produce? They barely look like a human or the final result. Same here. The final dress has the features of the drawing but much darker and more subtle. I haven't seen anything suggesting the girl part was meant to introduce a new standard look to be substituted or used in cartoons or promo material etc. Just a rendered mannequin for the dress.
