I've been once and would probably never go again :( I can handle crowds but this is a whole new level. It wasn't enjoyable for us unfortunatly.
It gets VERY crowded. At rope drop guests scurry to place blankets to hold places on Main Street, near the castle. Some Β camp out, taking turns. Hard to say when they reach max capacity. It's like once you get IN, you stay there and don't park hop bc there is no guarantee you will be admitted back in. DCA is not AS packed, but it's still fun. Hope this helps :) - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  3134.8 #26 8:58PM
I did it two years ago when the fog was insane. Definitely fun to experience once, but I don't think id do it again. Unbelievably crowded! It's hard to complain while you're at Disneyland, but I'd much rather go somewhere else. :) - GrimGrinningAmanda  448.1 #389 9:03PM
Thank you all for your input. Since turning single again, and actually the entire 11 years of the relationship (so 15 years) I have done nothing on NYE. Tomorrow would be the same, not even a gathering of family or neighbors. Will any other MW be there? That are my age, 40-50 ish.  Still up for a night of fun but not crazy - FairyGrandmother  208.0 #1717 6:53PM
Aww! Time to get out! There is a meet up at LaBrea in DTD, but then you could not get into DL(if that's what you had wanted to do) DCA would be easier. Enjoy what ever you do - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  3134.8 #26 6:56PM
I decided to babysit the mini tonight so my daughter could go out. I plan on spending the whole day at the parks tomorrow. I have not see WOC this holiday season.  - FairyGrandmother  208.0 #1717 10:04PM

We stayed at the old key west villas with our DVC. It's a nice hotel, but I do recommend staying at a hotel that is connected to the monorail. We had to wait for the busses and most many times by the time it got to our resort the busses were full. We actually waited 45 min just to get a bus ride to the parks. That was pretty disappointing.
If you don't mind me asking what kind of budget are you working with? Are you going super nice hotels or looking at the moderate ones? - lostgirl7988  688.5 #206 11:24AM
I'm on a moderate budget, for the cost of a moderate hotel I can rent points and stay at a deluxe villa hotel studio (some 1 bedrooms). - GoofyMom77  457.5 #375 11:28AM
I see. We'll if you go bay lake towers see if you can go all out and get a room facing the magic kingdom. They pipe in fireworks music at night and I've heard it's amazing. As far as moderate I really love port Orleans French quarter and Coronado springs. Coronado is a little more business-y but the quick service restaurant in there is phenomenal. Caribbean Beach is pretty gorgeous as well.  - lostgirl7988  688.5 #206 11:31AM
I should have been more clear. Which Deluxe Villa Resort Studio or 1 Bedroom would you stay at and why? The cost (via renting points) is the same as booking a moderate Disney hotel. - GoofyMom77  457.5 #375 12:27PM
Do you still get magic morning when you rent points? - minnielove83  22.3 #5732 7:43AM
I would assume so you're still on property and can get meal plans through your rental.  - Pixarprincess  539.2 #292 8:32AM
Yes and you still get the free parking. - georgieporgie  179.9 #2067 10:27AM
Yup :) The only thing I wouldn't get is the free dining if it's offered, since I'm not booking through Disney - GoofyMom77  457.5 #375 8:05PM

Yes. In 2013 the resort celebrated True Love Week with special menus and events. Look at the Disney website in January for details about this years celebration.  - MelodyMouse  2526.0 #36 11:24AM
Usually the park is decorated (not as big as Christmas/Halloween), but its noticeable. Also, the princes join their princesses for photo ops. - BaseballMickey_CM  5315.7 #12 11:25AM
Including the above they also bring out the significant others of all of the characters lol. All of the princes come out to escort their princesses and Mickey, Minnie, Donald and daisy all stroll around together and pose together for pics.  - missariel33  1091.9 #115 9:55AM

I forgot about the Rose Bowl :/ might need to rethink this :(
I've found the crowds pretty light right afer new years. - madsdad  1748.0 #62 11:09AM
Not sure of the exact date, but they seem to take down the decorations around the second week in Jan. my husband's birthday is right around then, and in years past, the decorations have been removed for his b/day trip. Not sure about crowds, I would guess busy, but not NYE busy. New Years is on a Wednesday, so I would expect crowds through that weekend, then people will be back to work/school on the following Monday. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  492.2 #343 11:19AM
I've found the past couple of years we gone the 1st-5th it's been pretty busy. I usually forget to check which college football teams are playing the Rose Bowl and other bowls close to southern Cal. - Mepenguin16  168.4 #2229 11:55AM
