Hmmm....I commented on several of these posts yesterday but none are showing up.  So guess I'll just say HI EVERYONE!  Looks like you are all doing great!  ....Vacation is over, so I'm back on track this week.  Wish me luck!

My comment didn't show up, let's try again.  Getting back on track is so hard for me. I hope it is easier for you.  I'm feeling very motivated this week.  - Mrs.mouse  543.6 #424 5:06AM

Life has been so crazy lately and I've let myself slack, but I'm ready to really focus on my healthy eating habits this week.  Here is to an AWESOME week for us all!

Whoo Hoo.  But did you also pass on those delicious (kidding) rolls that were on the table or passed around when you sat down to eat?!?  But still...passing on fondue is an awesome achievement (I would have justified that dipping a strawberry in it would still count as fruit!). - msdizmaui  941.5 #225 1:18PM

Okay, remember when I said the scale wasn't budging since I started training for my race???  Um...well, now it has budged a bit since my vacation.....but in the WRONG direction!  I gained 5 lbs!  Yikes!  Okay, time to get back on track and get this under control!  Ugh.

OMG, I hit the thank you button when I meant to comment, lol.....I'm right there with you. I finally got on the scale today. Good news was I wasn't as bad as I thought but definetly gained some weight back. Time to focus! - ElectricMayhemMom  1749.8 #112 9:54PM
I put my scale under the bed!  I can tell by my clothes how much weight I've gained!  Started back on Yoli today (cost me $300 - gotta use it!).  Back on JC in the new year!  NO MORE SEE'S CANDY!!!! - msdizmaui  941.5 #225 12:57PM
Lol, I had to get on the dreaded  dr.'s scale in my boots, jeans, and winter coat.  (So it was like a double-whammy!). Then, when the assistant told me my blood pressure was "a little bit higher than last time, but nothing to worry about" I was like "well, yeah!  That was a shock--I'm 10 pounds heavier now than I was when I came last summer in my dress and flip flops!"  Lol  She laughed when I said they should do the blood pressure before the scale.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  684.4 #330 8:13PM

One more week and we get to go to Disneyland on a week-long vacation!!!!   YAHOO!!!   I don't know when I have needed a vacation so badly!   It will be interesting keeping up on my training while I am there......but I am determined to do it.  Any suggestions where to run near the park?

When are you going to be there?  I'm going to be at the park on Friday the 8th. - msdizmaui  941.5 #225 10:25PM
Oh no! MsDizMaui I wish I would have read your comment sooner!  We were in the park on that Friday and I would have LOVED to meet up with you.  I didn't even look at MW while we were there.   Oh bummer!!!!  - D55CR  249.9 #1447 2:42PM

So the scale is still not budging at all.   But I did get in 9 miles yesterday, so my training is going well and on track for the WDW Half in January.  I also made my TNT fundraising goal (which is a huge relief!).  So I'm just going to keep focusing on my training and worry about the scale   More...

Mine is budging...going up!  Once again I gained weight back.  How many times have you all heard me say this.  Will I ever learn to KEEP it off!?! - msdizmaui  941.5 #225 4:07PM

I had the same problem with training for the DL half.  My husband was good about reminding me that my body comp was changing: I was losing fat, but not weight.  It seems counterintuitive, but it's so much more complex than the old "calories in / calories out" theory: there's a lot of chemistry involved.  One thing I had to really be conscious of was my fuel before, during and after the run.  The Gatorade, gels, blocks, coconut water....they all add up (and then I have the added issue of being STARVING after a really long run).  It's taken a lot of Googling and playing around with diet, electrolytes, and hydration, but I did start to feel comfortable in the weeks leading up to the race.  I didn't lose, but had the same mindset as you: my performance was more important than the scale.  You are doing amazing: just think of what your body is doing!  :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  684.4 #330 5:59PM
What she said.  - Mrs.mouse  543.6 #424 11:28AM
ah, thanks for that.....glad I'm not alone in this. I'm still figuring out the fuel and hydration thing as I gain mileage, so you make a good point about the calories adding up. I'm trying to just concentrate on getting stronger (and hopefully a little faster!).  :0) - D55CR  249.9 #1447 11:24AM

I guess I missed the ๐Ÿ•party, lol! I did bad onSaturday. Ate taquitos for lunch with guacamole/sour cream. I bought it a la cart (3 of them) but ended up taking a few bites of rice/beans from my boyfriends plate. I then went to parks and had beignets. Then came home had kalbi, coleslaw , and a noodle salad (with a peanut butter sauce!) We are taking my in-laws to the Gold Country Fair this evening.  I told them we should eat BEFORE we go, because I am quite sure there won't be a lot of healthy choices for me once we get there.  LOL   Wish me luck!

Good luck!  We went to a fair last weekend. There was nothing even kind of healthy.  I managed to stay away from nachos and funnel cakes. Have a great time.  - Mrs.mouse  543.6 #424 12:13PM
Good luck! When I went to the OC Fair my version of healthy was opting for the tempura fried zucchini twirls....and a side of ranch๐Ÿ˜....yes, this was definitely before I got back on track!๐Ÿ˜‚ - ElectricMayhemMom  1749.8 #112 12:47PM

Did 6 miles today and felt great!  My weight has been stuck since I started training and I decided not to worry about trying to lose until after the race. Then I can taper back my miles and concentrate on weight loss. It would be easier to run if I could lose 30 lbs before the race, but my body doesn't seem to want to let go of it while I'm training.  So this is how it has to be for now,  More...

Great job on the run!!!  - vernswifevickie  400.5 #615 3:28PM
Thanks!  - D55CR  249.9 #1447 4:12PM
That has been my exact experience.  I've actually gained a few pounds in the last few weeks, lol. My body just wants to hang onto it, also.  I found that if I run more than 8 or 9 miles, I'm starving.  I tried to keep it semi-healthy, but I over-indulged a few times.  I was upset the other day, but c'est la vie!  I'll start running more moderately and my body will settle back in.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  684.4 #330 6:57PM

Hi All. I'm back after having been MIA for a while. My Mom passed away on Tuesday, so it's been a rough time. But I am ready to get focused on my running. I plan to run the half marathon at WDW in January in her honor. She'd had polio as a child and was never able to run. She was so proud that I had started running. I want to do this race in her honor.

I'm so sorry about your mom; I can't even imagine. My mom and I are very close and I think it's wonderful that you'll be running the half in WDW in her honor. That's a fabulous way to motivate yourself and honor her memory! - GheeButtersnaps  377.6 #654 5:29PM

Training for my 1/2 marathon is going well. I ran 4.9 miles this weekend, and actually felt pretty good the rest of the day. I'm actually looking forward to my next run.

Good for you! I'm trying to "run" as much as I walk (at night with the doggy), but I swear I get out of breath so easily! I can only go probably 1/4 mile before I have to stop and walk for awhile. I'm not sure if I even want to put out the effort... - msdizmaui  941.5 #225 3:57PM
It sounds like you are putting in an effort. Keep it up. - Mrs.mouse  543.6 #424 4:20PM
Have you tried Jeff Galloway's method? His training programs use a run/walk/run method. That is the ONLY way I can make that distance. I run for 1 min, then walk for 1 min. But to start out I could only run about 20 seconds. You should check him out. - D55CR  249.9 #1447 8:38AM
I will...thanks (and the 1 min thing kind of works with my dog's sniffing habits!) - msdizmaui  941.5 #225 2:21PM
I use a run/walk method, too. It makes it manageable and protects you from injuries. If it helps, I didn't run much this winter and when I started jogging again (6 weeks ago), I had a hard time running more than a couple of minutes or so. The other day, I was able to run 3 miles without walking. It really doesn't take all that long to build endurance--you just have to push through the first few weeks. I try to repeat "mind over matter" to the rhythm of my steps, making little, tiny goals as I go. Sometimes, my goal is just to make it to the crack in the sidewalk that's ten steps away, then I say, "OK, now my goal is that driveway 5 steps away!" Lol! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  684.4 #330 3:35PM
Good for you. You are making so much progress. - Mrs.mouse  543.6 #424 4:20PM
Thanks. It feels good so far. I'm pretty warn out by the end, but I am supposed to increase my distance gradually, so I'm hoping it still feels this good when I'm running the full half marathon. - D55CR  249.9 #1447 8:39AM
Yay! That's great--it's so nice when it "clicks"--I'm falling into a nice training rhythm, too. For awhile, I was ravenous after my runs, but now my appetite is settling down, thank goodness! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  684.4 #330 6:11PM
My daughter is a personal trainer and she started me on an eating plan as part of my training. At first I was having trouble eating that much food, but not it is getting easier. I'm pretty much a vegetarian, but I eat some fish. She has me eating high protein and it's hard to get enough without eating meat. I'm doing protein shakes which helps. - D55CR  249.9 #1447 8:42AM
That's great! Keep it up! - ElectricMayhemMom  1749.8 #112 7:00AM
