Good morning! This sad day in Disneyland history, September 11th, 2001.  Following the mornings tragic terrorist attacks on The Pentagon, New York City's World Trade Center and in the air over Pennsylvania, Walt Disney World and Disneyland closed without incident.  More...

Such a horrible day. As a New Yorker, the thought of this day makes me weep. I remember waking up that morning, turning in the tv, and instantly falling to the floor. The world around me stopped as I watched the horror, praying that my family was safe, and also having my heart break for all those who were suffering at that moment. Thank you for this post. It's always good to remember those we have lost, those that helped, and those that prayed for a better day. - DarthTinkerbell  1090.7 #185 2:43PM

Question for all you Disneyland veterans. My husband has never watched the fireworks from directly in front of the castle. We are going in a couple of weeks on a Friday. How far in advance should we park ourselves in front of the castle? Thank you in advanceπŸ˜€

Around 6pm. Right in front of the castle, stay on the blacktop street next to the curb as the people on the brick work have to remain sitting during the fireworks while the blacktop people get to stand. This makes for excellent viewing with no obsacles. Next secure your area with a blanket. Be aware that it will eventually get stepped on but it's still your space as people crowd in. After you lay your blanket, send someone for food. This makes time pass and it's harder to do as the crowd sets in. Lastly, pray that winds don't come in which can cancel the show. Hope this helps.Β  - Quiweez  959.8 #214 1:28PM
If you can't be right by the curb, choose a spot behind a stroller as it will always remain waist high in front of you while standing. πŸ˜‰ - Quiweez  959.8 #214 1:34PM
we did that three times, got the perfect spot and each time it was too windy and fireworks were cancelled. I think I'm a fireworks jinx. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜« - OhanaPhoto  6568.5 #20 9:26AM
We've gotten a spot in front of the castle without waiting.  We time it so we have dinner at either Plaza Inn or Jolly Holiday, right before Paint the Night.  We watch the parade during dinner.  Immediately after the parade, hustle onto Main Street and you can get a good spot! - DisneyHeidi09  293.1 #1036 1:39PM
I've actually watched it from The Little Red Corn Dog line. We usually get lucky because we don't like to wait. - ShariRenee  12071.4 #8 1:53PM

Just an FYI-DCA GC is being scheduled to help with Fantasmic since we work WOC. I personally have a shift on Monday 12/15 and I'm excited but nervous. I'm excited that I'll be working on the DL side doing a show I've never done before. I'm excited that I get to help fellow CMs with something that is new to them. I'm nervous because of all the push back and assumptions I'm hearing from everyone before this new system even starts. Disney is constantly looking to improve the guest experience, not make it worse. No one seems to like change but we all adapt quickly and things always seem to work out for the better. As Walt said himself, "Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." I can tell you first had that every CM I know strives to preserve Walts vision, tradition and legacy daily. We do it because it's what makes Disneyland magical. Ok-I'm off my soap box, LOL  - CM_tamstirr  560.5 #400 10:53PM

I am also upgrading mine to a premium for the discount but leaving my son's as deluxe.  I never go on the busy weekends so it doesn't make sense for both of us to get the premium. - Thumper13  518.6 #444 10:22AM

Annual passes should be even more considering how much entertainment you are given every time you walk through the gates.  Anyone who lives close to the park and goes fairly regularly are getting so much for their money.  This hurts the lower middle class family that saves for that one family vacation and every dollar counts.  Nobody in so cal should complain about the wonderful opportunity we have of living close and being able to use a pass.  They could raise the APs much more and it would still be a value.   - verolly  1146.2 #174 12:26PM

πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ So many great memories of Fantasmic!  The first few summers of Fantasmic we took quite a few groups to DL just to see this amazing show. I would camp out starting at like 3 pm lol with my blanket and a book to save space. I don't know why I brought a book I always ended up people watching!  I loved sharing the show with our nieces, nephews (Teen Mickey!) , goddaughters and little friends. Every show I had a twinge of sadness that we would never have kids to share the show with. But I did love watching the show with kids and first timers. It was the best feeling ever. Flash forward a few years when our first miracle came along. I think I watched her watch the show the whole time. Crying of course. So grateful we had a daughter to share the magic with. Flash forward about eight years later when Lil One came along. She is obsessed with Fantasmic just like I am!  We have watched it twice in rain because we could!  Who cares about getting wet. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ any who thanks for the memories Duchess! - PrincessDuckie  931.1 #217 9:14AM

I think I liked it so much because I love those old songs- when I was younger, my parent's cars never seemed to have radios (I cannot imagine life without sirius xmπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) so we always sang- among them were a few of these songs. Thanks so much for posting this – I will watch the video later when I have a little more time. I am also looking very forward to IASW today!! 😘 - misschurro  7865.2 #14 7:57AM

I love Kristen Bell as Anna in Frozen but I had not seen this yet. Its a live performance of her singing do you want to build a snowman. I had no idea that she did all the voices of Anna in the song from when she was a little kid to adult. its really impressive to watch.

If everything goes as planned, she and Idina will be singing again for a 2016 Frozen short.   - Willierose  2375.1 #72 1:31PM
WOW, that is awesome, thanks for the info!! Seem like they both have really enjoyed their time as Anna and Elsa - Dave   13832.5 #4 1:49PM

This is all sorts of awesomeness:Patrons of Virgin Australia Flight 0970 might have been expecting a little in-flight entertainment on their journey from Brisbane to Sydney, but they almost certainly were not expecting a full-on live performance. In honor of St Patricks day, here is last years St Pattys Day firework show from Paris Disneyland...Enjoy...Also anyone recognize the music? Its from an old Parade called Light magic

I actually liked the music from Light Magic - Dave   13832.5 #4 4:30PM
Music was fine, costumes were a different story. - CM_Shadowgamer  2642.0 #57 4:39PM
Cool! Thanks for sharing!  - minnieMisty  276.9 #1175 4:51PM
I actually didn't hate Light Magic...just hated the feeling it was trying to replace the MAIN STREET electric light parade! - TinkerSchelle  2082.3 #84 5:08PM
It was an interesting concept.  I had high hopes for it.  I believe what did it in was the lengthy show stops.   - Butterlina  1623.4 #118 5:12PM
yea it was really long and the story did not flow at all. it was a giant acid trip. The whole Riverdance thing just did not work at all - Dave   13832.5 #4 9:29PM
Agree-it was off-but the twinkly lights were good...I also thought the theme didn't seem to match Disneyland was misplaced...but pretty πŸ˜‰βœ¨ - TinkerSchelle  2082.3 #84 11:06PM

Even though I was still a kid when the original things were in place, I still remember them and was really upset when they changed them later. I've always thought that the political correctness and women's groups got in the way of the point that this is what pirates were actually like. You can't change history. And as a kid, I didn't know that the fat pirate was saying suggestive things - I just knew he was looking for that girl. I didn't even realize she was a teenager. Despite the fact that I loved the first Pirates movie,I liked the ride better without the movie tie ins for a couple of reasons, not the least of which is that now everyone assumes the ride was based on the movie and not the other way around. But I tend to like things the way Walt made them... - DisneyOnesie  621.2 #362 8:08AM
I love what you have to say about this and I couldn't agree more. There are certain things that cannot be sugar-coated, and I believe it's important to portray history as it actually was--not alter it to appease a group of people. There is ALWAYS going to be someone in society who gets offended by something. History isn't always pretty: learn from it and move forward, but don't deny or sugar-coat it. I miss the old POTC in this regard; adding Jack Sparrow is a plus, though 😊 - apesandmonkeys  6523.5 #22 8:46AM

This is an awesome post and I love reading everyone's reasons for their favorite versions. Personally, I love the original because of all the memories it brings back.
