##Disneyland Fun Facts #2 - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad opened, September 2, 1979 and was designed by Imagineer Tony Baxter and ride design engineer Bill Watkins. The concept came from Baxter's work on fellow Imagineer Marc Davis's concept for the Western River Expedition. The rock work designs are based on the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.

The mountain received it's name from an old Indian tale warning that if anyone was to deface this sacred mountain, a huge disaster would occur. Fun Fact #2 - The big thing in High School in the 80's was to steal the "Poison Apple" from Snow White Scary Adventures. The apple was often stolen and a cast members had to follow a car into the ride to replace it. There used to be a bag of apples behind the scenes each apple costing $16.
