So I am leaving for Disneyland in the morning, So excited! It is a family trip and my mom booked us at the Paradise Pier, first time staying on the resort so excited to experience it at least once :) Any tips to get the most out of the "resort experience" Also... I have a trip planned in September for my birthday, where we will be staying at the Howard Johnson!!... I was thinking abou  More...

Be sure to get a Resort Calendar that has daily activities exclusive tto those staying at the DLR. You are able to enjoy activities at all 3 of the hotels. I especially enjoyed the power walk thru DCA before opening. They also have Pilates, movies at the outside fireplace at GCH, hotel tours among others. Some are open to the public, but others are exclusive to DLR hotel guests.  - Katsza  128.4 #3261 3:31PM
Wait-what!!???!!! I've stayed at all 3 hotels and haven't seen these!!! What's the power walk?!!!! - TinkerSchelle  2141.5 #92 4:14PM
A CM leads you on a 2 mile power walk thru DCA at a nice clip. It's not every morning, but at least 2-3 times per week. I loved it. No pictures are allowed while on the walk because it is before opening & workers are there doing various things. Pictures would take away from the Magic of Disney. We were told this before starting out. They meet over by the GCH entrance. It was at 7am when I was there. But, you must sign up for it the day before, you can't just show up the morning of.  - Katsza  128.4 #3261 8:50PM
And the Power Walk is one of the activities exclusive to guests of DLR hotels. Public not allowed.  - Katsza  128.4 #3261 8:52PM
Look to see if they have the "Magic Morning" going on to gain access into the Park early! Also, totally not a huge deal, but when we stayed at the DL Hotel a few weeks ago, we bought the Mickey ice cream sandwich while at the pool! Loved being able to get a DL treat outside of the Park! Have fun!!Β  - GrimGrinningAmanda  666.9 #363 4:10PM
DCA Disney Visa photo area near Monsters inc, free 5X7, if they are still doing it.  - JenGwen323  2312.7 #85 4:42PM
Great post! Does this include the gyms? (If I'm staying at PP can I use the gym at the Grand?) - MissAcroBRAT  253.8 #1462 9:14PM

I leave for Disneyland Friday morning. So excited! Earlier this month the website said that POTC and Grizzle River Run is closed till mid feb. Is this still the case? Or are they both open now like it says on Disneyland's website?

The Disneyland website does a fantastic job of staying up to date for all planned closures. Both were operational when I was there on Tuesday. If you do happen to visit and the ride is down but the website doesn't list it, be sure to check back later in the day as it is most likely a temporary downtime. And remember you can always check your MouseWait app for updated wait times throughout the day! Enjoy your trip!! - cnormanh  22.6 #7641 11:13PM

The website is the best place to check. As of just now nether POTC or grizzly run have refurbs listed :) for Friday the following are listed for refurb: Big Thunder Mountain, Finding Nemo, Sailing Ship Columbia, IASW, Splash Mountain, blue sky cellar, and Redwood Creek Challenge TrailHope that helps and have a great trip - scrapbunny  8.4 #13975 11:27PM

Does anyone know if I can still receive the discount for purchases and food with my disney visa card if I show the cast member it, even if I am paying in giftcard??

I am almost certain you have to pay with the Disney Visa card. - DLKenCA  3768.3 #50 4:46PM
Also am under this assumption  - Pixarprincess  544.5 #450 4:51PM
You have to actually have the Disney Visa card get swiped in order to receive the discount.  - KermitFan13  658.1 #366 5:05PM
Yup! - DisneylandMama87  17.4 #8805 5:13PM
I have no idea if this would work but worth a try..Tell the cm to charge $5 and you will pay the rest by girft card and see if that works :) - JollyRoger5  4132.8 #45 5:45PM

Yay! So the calendar was updated for our trip (October 14th to the 19th) I noticed that on the Monday we are there they are open till 10 pm. I am so excited because it is our first night we are there! I am wondering why though? Is there a event that day? A school hoilday? Any help would be helpful.

I'm not sure but I'm so glad the calendar is up! Let the planning begin! We'll be there the week before you. - cynDOLEwhip  1175.7 #187 10:06AM
Monday Oct. 14 is Columbus Day. Some schools are out that day.  - kskating  742.8 #327 10:11AM
Oh wow, duh! Thank you :)  - disneylover091990  4.1 #25522 10:39AM
We will also be there during this time. We are going to be visiting from Texas. We went last year around this time and "yes" the parks were hopping. The night of the party was great! A lot of the rides were walk in while folks were enjoying all the festivities.  - BibbidiBobbidiBoo  128.6 #3259 6:13PM

Hey guys I have a random question. My boyfriend and I are going to Disneyland in October. I have saved up over $200 in Disney giftcards. I am wondering can I use them in California adventure? Can we use them at restaurants in the parks like Blue Bayou etc? Is there anything we cant buy with them? Thanks!

You can use them everywhere! Even Trader Sam's and the beer cart!! I just revealed a lot about myself didn't I?... - APirateslifeforme31  170.3 #2580 12:41PM

If you can't use a credit card then you probably can't use a gift card. Even churro carts take credit cards so you should be in good shape - GoofyMom77  1162.9 #194 12:45PM
You cannot use a gift card to rent a locker. I witnessed this first hand when a single mom was trying to, to no avail only to be told by a cm that a Disney gift card cannot be utilized to rent lockers. - missmimi90  2086.8 #96 2:32PM
The one thing I never would have thought of! - Cinderella_Schnooks  3511.8 #53 2:35PM
There isn't much you can't use a Disney gift card towards. I was once turned away at Ghirardelli and a few of the carts that didn't take credit cards, as mentioned earlier. I have the Disney Rewards Visa so I really bank on my redemption card for trips to WDW. Does anyone know if you can use a gift card for parking? Just curious.... - EpicDio  460.3 #562 2:47PM

I have been a member of MouseWait for a while, I enjoy reading everyone's posts and seeing updates/photos from the park. I love Disneyland and really anything Disney:) I have been 7 times and have a trip booked for October. It will be my boyfriends first time and I am getting really excited. So my question to everyone is the Mickey's Halloween Party worth the $60(give or take) to do? Are the rides  More...

It's definitely worth it. Rides are open and dressing up is a must! Lol. Try it at least once. My family had a lot of fun and we're doing it again this yr. if you love Halloween then you will love this. - dumbbunny  627.7 #381 3:15PM
yes, its such a great experience. - pinkmonkeys  557.4 #436 3:19PM
If you are looking to save $ and are only interested in DL and not CA then the Halloween party is a great way to go! I've gone every year and always have fun, but it's a special event so for your boyfriend it may not be what he's looking for..( lots of little kids, etc. ) for his first time... - carminaire  1171.7 #192 4:23PM
That is a concern, that if we go to is that first night its going to be so busy but I will just warn him it won't be like this the entire week we are there. I am so excited! and excited to be involved with this site! - disneylover091990  4.1 #25522 4:48PM
