Happy Husband and father to two. We took our kids to Disney last year and can't wait to go back in 2014, hopefully during the holidays.

I'm looking at buying an AP pass for myself and using park hoppers for rest of the family for our upcomming December trip. Does anyone else on here do that to get the discounts on the hotels and park food and merch?
If you are staying at a Resort Hotel you enjoy Extra Magic Hour. If you are staying at a Good Neighbor hotel. .. the AP is not entitled to Magic Morning.  I hope that makes sense.  - MickeyLumboCM  503.9 #351 1:08PM
So we are looking at staying at either Paridise Pier or Disneyland Hotel,  5 nights. I believe I would get 15% off hotel rates. I don't want to make it too complicated.  - Danierob  16.9 #6723 9:53PM
Both hotels are great options. When you make the reservation you should add your AP and then you get the rate discount. You can add the tickets for the others on the reservation.  You pick them up at check in. - MickeyLumboCM  503.9 #351 12:14AM
If you arrive prior to 3pm check in,  you can pre register,  store your luggage and pick up your AP voucher and tickets. Soon the magic begins!  - MickeyLumboCM  503.9 #351 12:23AM
I am doing that this year for the first time. We will be making 2 visits in a calendar year which never happens. I figured out the cost for a 3and a 4 day hopper ticket and with the savings on food and Mdse over 7 days, it will be worth it. Plus the added benefit, I will be able to buy pins exclusive to AP holders which I am stoked about... - CVDisneyland  349.5 #576 10:03PM
That is a wonderful idea!  We are Vacation Club Members and always stay at one of the resort hotels, so we get early entry.  We also have access to discounted Military Tickets.  We have never thought of only buying one passport for the discounts.  I did the math and for us it will be a huge savings since we go at least twice a year! - luvthemouse  141.0 #2683 7:58AM
Luv the mouse:  currently the military room only resort hotel discount is 40% off the room rate and you know already about the spectacular military ticket available on base... combined, that's a great deal. Mention military to the Cast Member and bring the - MickeyLumboCM  503.9 #351 6:01PM
I'd with you at check in. Guest with I'd must be present at check and at the Maingate to show id. Block out dates and subject to availability - MickeyLumboCM  503.9 #351 6:03PM

I need some help guys.  My family and I are looking at going to the parks in December.  We went in October 2012 and booked through Costco. We stayed at a partner hotel and it was all good.  This time we are thinking about changing it up a bit and this is where I would love some advice.  We are thinking about staying at P.P Hotel to get that total Disney experience.  Costco  More...
We stayed at PP on our minis' first trip back in 2009, it's a great bang for the buck in terms of staying on property.  I would recommend HoJo for the first 2 nights...you can DM me for more advise and no you are not booking too early! - BombFrogCM  675.2 #229 5:16PM
If you call Costco travel, they are really good at helping out, even if you don't buy right away. I know we have booked hotels for December a week or two before our travel dates. Not the best deals, but you can do it.  - mommalostone  48.2 #4328 5:17PM
Is there any perks booking through Disney as opposed to Costco? I see Costco gets you the free character meal and the $20 gift card. That seems to be the only difference.  - Danierob  16.9 #6723 10:04PM
You can book through http://funwithfour.com/book-your-2014-disney-vacation-package-with-dreamfinder-travel/Amanda "Belle" Starr is very knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. I booked my Disneyland vacation through her. Another Disney vacation travel agency I recommend would be Getawaytoday.com - MaryinVancouver888  4.6 #16670 11:48PM
Thanks everyone.  The location looks fantastic and the kids will love the bunkbed room.  We can't wait to see the park during the holidays.   - Danierob  16.9 #6723 10:30PM

So I'm curious. Are there any must have souvenirs or family traditions that you and your family have every trip to Disney? As you can see our kids loved picking out hats, and pins were a hit too. Of course once we got home we heard about the old school disney posters you can buy and have shipped to your house, I love the idea of picking one per trip and framing it up to remember your trip. So fel  More...
We used to buy a different Mickey each visit. Now it seems to be scrapbook items or things my daughter loves. The photopass CD is also a must every time.  - warchanted  115.2 #3101 10:09PM

We've got more into pins that describe our day. We tried taking home a goat but he didn't do well with our cats. - MrsSchnooks  2661.4 #35 11:50PM
Photos are a must. We will definitely use the photo pass next visit. We made a photo book from our trip that my wife created online at Costco. It's so nice to have it and look through it with our kids.  - Danierob  16.9 #6723 11:36PM

So I was looking through a photo album of mine from my first trip to Disneyland, 1982. Check out this photo below, Pluto in a sombrero and Minnie in a Kimono? What kind of parade was I watching? I was 7 and really don't remember that.

Can anyone tell me if the Haunted Mansion goes through any changes between Halloween and Christmas?
This year it is going through some changes! Gingerbread doors are opening up, 13"s are popping up, and there may be more to come so I wouldn't say exactly the same. This year is special because of the 13th anniversary of HMH. - MrsSchnooks  2661.4 #35 11:01PM

Hey Everyone. I've got a question for you all. I'm looking at making a change job wise and wanted to know if anyone here has worked for Disney, non theme park positions? I'm a regional sales manager, 15 plus years, and I recently came across a sales director position that Disney has. Does anyone have any advice for applying to positions at Disney? I couldn't imagine a better company to work for   More...

Hey Everyone. We are in between visits, missing Disneyland, but my son got Disney Infinity for his birthday and its a blast. Is anyone playing it? I wonder if they are going to have park exclusives of the figures or discs? What's your thoughts on it? Our kids are 4 and 8 and both of them can't stop playing. If you are playing too what s your favorite character so far and post some tricks or how   More...
Ours just arrived in the mail! Buttttt we got it for our daughter for her Fourth birthday, which isn't until October :( I can't wait to hear all about your experience with it though! My hubby and I are really using all of our self control not to rip it open and start playing it after my daughters bedtime, lol. - CinderellasMommy21  262.3 #1087 12:01PM
That's funny. My wife and I played last night after our kids went to bed. I saw that the series to be released next month has Repunzel, Vanelope and a few others from Frost. Just in time for your Daughters BDay. So far our kids can't put it down. Really fun.  - Danierob  16.9 #6723 9:23PM
I got the game when it was released and I gotta say I am loving it!!! The only down side is looking for people to trade me some power discs. On Monday I went to DL and the store across Emporium I believe it's called 20th century music, sells everything for the game. My favorite character to play is Mr.Incredible. Each power discs has different things for example some of them giving you health others gives you more money. - KladiaDisneyNinja  258.2 #1128 10:01PM
I put up an ad on Craigslist and met up with someone at Starbucks and traded for all the ones we needed. We traded the power rare discs straight up and three commons to one power disc. Toys r us was sold out since they are on sale buy one pack get another for a dollar. Target will price match. Sale ends today, good luck! - Danierob  16.9 #6723 4:00PM
I had to buy the exclusive pack from toys r us on eBay but the rest I have been buying them at Target. I think I've gone to Target this whole week lol I found a website already and I found someone to trade with. Now all I need is Finding Nemo Skydome and Abu and my collection is done! But I will try Craigslist too thanks for the tip :)  - KladiaDisneyNinja  258.2 #1128 4:22PM

I've got a question for all you regulars. We are planning our second trip to Disneyland and looking at the week of Nov 11th. We were there in Oct last year and loved the Halloween theme. Our thought this year was going during the Holiday season but not too close to Christmas, I know the crowd levels get pretty high. So my questions are, Is it a good time to go? Will all of the holiday decorations  More...
Yes! Best time to go in nov is after thanksgiving. However, living far away, we usually go at times when the park is "busy" anyway so we don't really know any different. My family went the day of thanksgiving and a few days after and it really wasn't as horrible as I thought it was going to be. The lines were typically about a little over an hour wait. Being on a tighter budget, the hotel we usually stay in is the Marriott Fairfield Inn. It is reasonably priced and is only .02 miles away. It took maybe 5 min to walk to the park. Only down fall is they don't have continental breakfast. Is you can afford a DL hotel, do it!!! I've heard nothing but good things about them! - BellesLibrary  362.1 #536 1:12PM
The first week of December may also be a good time. All of the decorations will be up, as well as all shows, parades and fireworks up and running, as well as extended operating hours, as well as lighter crowds compared to other parts of the holiday season (although still busy). As far as hotels, it totally depends on your wants/needs. There are several good neighbor (and non good neighbor) that are a shorter walk to the main gates than that any of the Disney properties and at a significant savings too. We have stayed at several in the area and it's hard to match the convenience, especially when you are spending all of your time at the parks. - MightyWhitey  1026.5 #136 1:16PM
I live locally and that is my favorite time of year. It's perfect! - MrsSchnooks  2661.4 #35 1:29PM
