Hey friends. I have a question. Heading to the parks in 3 weeks, my dad will be with us & is having major hip issues. I'm thinking we will need to rent him a motorized wheelchair. How do we go about this? What's the process of acquiring a pass for him/us to not wait in line? Thanks!!

I don't know and don't have an answer for you, but make sure he's careful around the curbs on Main Street. I saw a guy fall off his scooter from a curb. He was OK but it took a few if us to get him back on.  -  1660.0 #125 10:58AM
My mom was on a scooter and went off the curb at night and had to have her shoulder replaced. - Linzee  2136.7 #92 11:00AM

They are for rent just to the right of the park entrance. I don't remember the price. There is a deposit. If you are going to be there for multiple days, it's cheaper and better to rent from an outside vendor. You can't take the scooters outside of the security lines.  They are changing a lot of the process around on the 20th. So nobody knows completely. I would doubt the current wheelchair rules will change. Your party goes to the ride you want to go on with ALL the tickets/passes of your party. They will issue you a return time so you can come back instead of waiting in the line. I would stop by City Hall or Chamber of Commerce when you get there to ask and get directions. I believe they even have a special map with instructions. - DLKenCA  3610.3 #51 10:59AM
You may be able to arrange for a scooter through the hotel you're staying at - chancesr  246.3 #1539 1:57PM
A friend with a heart condition told me his scooter got at flat DL once.  They would not change the tire cos it was not DL's scooter.  If it had been,  they would have fixed it.  Rental scooters all are rented out early in the day. - MsTikiMermadam  2297.1 #83 2:15PM

Good Morning MW! I need advice, thoughts etc. We are going to be in the parks in December with my parents & considering doing one of the preferred seating for either world of color or fantasmic. We have 2 littles, 2.5 & 4.5. What do you experts suggest? Which one, why? Are they worth it (the preferred seating not the show). The girls have never seen either show, I've never seen WoC. Thanks!!

Preferred seating for fantasmic definitely! Best place to watch world of color is on the bridge to the pier.  - underthesea1993  12.8 #0 9:32AM
I agree preferred seating is completely worth every penny for fantasmic!  - excmdlgurl  521.9 #466 9:35AM
Just an FYI when you come in December World of Color will have already changed to Winter Dreams...and once Winter Dreams ends Jan 7th World of Color will be "dark" until March 12th. It is rumored that WOC will return with a brand new show. Fantastic is the same and no talk of a referb or "down time" for the show.  - CM_tamstirr  560.5 #423 9:55AM
Thank you! I'mAlmost leaning towards WOC because it's holiday themed & none of us have seen in. Fantasmic I know we can catch another time, plus one of my daughters is easily spooked & that dragon might do her in ;) - cait79  152.3 #2855 3:22PM
My kids are scared of the dragon too :( The high points of Fantasmic are way better than WoC though, imho. WoC seems less scary to me too. - brigeet  774.0 #299 4:23PM

Do you have one because its cheaper than buying the 10 day pass that we get at the travel agent? - DisneylandKiwi  55.5 #4923 3:28PM
We were there for 15 days DisneylandKiwi. So it was definitely cheaper than a 10 day pass and a 5 day pass. We also stayed on site and got a 30% discount on the hotel so that made it even more worthwhile. And add in the little savings you get when buying gongs in the park. Hubby got a premium and the rest of us got a deluxe. He got the premium for the higher discounts on food.  - TrueFromOzLovesDisney  596.2 #400 12:57AM

Hello! Quick question, is the breakfast at Ariel's Grotto less formal than the 3 course meal for lunch/dinner?

I think it is. We have only done the breakfast. It's family style, so they bring platters with food. Hope that helps.  - warchanted  176.9 #2453 8:32PM

AP question: we are planning to apply our hoppers to the purchase of APs when we head to the parks in 3 weeks. I have some random/lame questions: 1. We bought through AAA, does that make a difference? 2. Where do you purchase them? Outside of park? I'm asking because we arrive on Saturday & aren't going into the park until Sunday. We would rather not have to spend time doing it on Sunday & just   More...

We call this "Extra Magic Hour". You will enjoy early entry into alternating Parks on alternating days. :-) - MickeyLumboCM  1367.7 #159 8:07AM
If you're upgrading to AP you can do it at the booths outside of the park.  Plus you can go in on Saturday of you get your APs.  You can also us  your hopper for Saturday and upgrade to AP later, even if you are there on a blackout date. - potatohead25  855.8 #263 7:23AM
ahhhh!  I learned something new, I didn't realize  we could put the purchase of hoppers towards ap?!  I'm doing this when I go next week :-)  thanks! - Aurora1111  119.2 #3427 8:42AM
It's funny I thought I got my early entrance with my AP when we upgraded. The CM just gave me tickets saying they were for the day we wanted. Then we upgraded my park hopper. We did do it on a Saturday so I could still get in the park (got a blackout pass for free when I upgraded it).  - warchanted  176.9 #2453 4:39PM

Question for the locals: we are planning a trip march 8-11, hoping to miss some of the spring break crowds because Easter is so late this year. I'm noticing on the schedule that the park is open later than I thought it would be...makes me wonder if they're expecting bigger crowds, or if it's because of daylight savings? My question is: when are most of the local spring breaks??

Most local breaks are the weeks surrounding Easter but if they have the closing times later than I think they are expecting crowds  - Cinderellaaa  165.2 #2654 6:22PM
Isn't there some big cheer leading thing at the convention centre during march?  Could that be the reason? - Spoonful_O_Sugar  713.5 #333 6:30PM
I know there's one the weekend of March 20th!  - GrimGrinningAmanda  666.9 #360 9:47AM
We are going the same week, and the people I talked to at disney dining said it won't be in full spring break mode yet. I was excited because the calendar didn't show fireworks or parades at all of that week (a good sign) but then they added them in last week. Only one parade a day though. I have been stalking the Disneyland calendar!  It is spring break here in Texas that week but most of the people here go to WDW. - Thumper13  543.4 #443 7:54AM

Alright all my healthy MW pals, heading to the parks in about a month. I've been eating really healthy/clean & am wondering what healthy delicious things I can eat while at the parks...ready. Go!

Fresh fruit carts are located all throughout the parks.  They sell whole fruit and cups of cut fruit.  Almost every walk up restaurant has a salad.  I think there is a mushroom sandwich at Tomorrowland Terrace. - Taunton  2971.1 #58 4:48PM
Bring your own food. Easy to stay on track that way. - Cinderella_Schnooks  3490.8 #52 5:00PM
Very good salads at Boardwalk pizza in DCA and right next to it is the Skewers that are really good too. And salads at Pizza Port in DL.  - iLOVELUCYnDISNEY  1006.7 #229 5:50PM
Lots of fruit available, grilled chicken sandwiches, the Kids meal power pack, bengal bbq, mediterranian skewers in DCA, split meals with others, and  splurge on 1 treat.  After all you are doing a lot of walking. - potatohead25  855.8 #263 7:25PM

Hi! Has anyone stayed on the concierge levels at any of the DLR hotels? Just wondering if they're worth the money?!

Currently staying in one at the Paradise Pier hotel...totally worth it...continental breakfast each morning...fruits, cereal, bagels, assorted coffee, tea, drinks, bread and pastries, snacks throughout the day, happy hour with hot appetizers. Wine, drinks, and dessert can relax in the concierge lounge, check out she's to play in your room...just a great experience :-) - uscdisneyteacher  9367.6 #13 1:51PM
We did it when it was included with a suite at DLH but unless you have a lot of people I don't think its worth the money. What's the extra charge per day? We pack snacks and bring an ice chest full of drinks and always a case of bottled water and save a bundle. Helps allowing us to stay at the GC - Goofytom  5132.1 #33 1:57PM
We've stayed at the PPH concierge & thought it was worth the extra $ we're staying at the Grand concierge for Dapper Day weekend because of the great discount in Feb.  I was told PPH closes at 8pm & Grand 10pm.  - UTDISNEYFAMILY  3271.8 #55 5:31PM
We did, at PPH. It was ok.  If you have a number of people or kids it would be worth it.  It was nice to be able to stop in for breakfast" they had cereal, juice fruit. The coffee was really weak, so we added an expresso pod coffee to it the first day, but it was broken the rest of the time. Snacks for the day were check mix, goldfish, and stuff that was just fillers.  Evening hot food was chicken skewers one night, spring rolls another etc. we went back one night for beer and wine. The hours just really made it so inconvenient.  Just not open late enough. It was cool to try once, but I would spend my money else where, and bring my keurig.  - Sugarbuzz  335.8 #826 8:00PM
