Here is my solution to the GAC problem: Allow the person with the GAC to wait at the loading area (with 1 or 2 others) until their party reaches the loading area through the regular line. Once there, the party can inform the CM about the GAC party and they can all be loaded together. That way the person with the GAC can utilize the proper access and there is no abuse to allow line cutting.

That's one way, but my son is only 7 years old and his living with high functions autism would not really handle this idea. What others who get and use the GAC may not like is providing documentation to receive the GAC. We always have a quick copy of his medical records (now available via Kaiser Permanente app) as well as a letter from his clinician. This may sound harsh but documentation may be the best way to cut down the fraud. - BombFrogFormerCM  856.3 #194 10:09AM
I agree with you on the documentation...I feel there should be proof that there is a need for the GAC. - TheWallpaper  4.7 #18235 10:37AM
I double agree, and honestly thought they had did that already. - Lelundrial  560.0 #331 10:41AM
I agree with having to provide a doctor's note. My mom-in-law has fibromyalgia and is wheelchair bound on most outings. We always bring documentation when getting her GAC, but have never had to show it to anyone. - NellTinkerBell  322.8 #722 12:21PM
THIS. Bomb is right. Unfortunately you can still go to a doctor, claims any number of mental disabilities and get a note right from them. People who abuse the GAC will always find ways to abuse it. - missmimi90  1838.0 #78 3:31PM
The problem is the ADA doesn't allow CM's to ask for documentation. - lostgirl7988  697.6 #247 9:43PM
What she said. πŸ‘† - bluefairy  643.3 #281 9:56PM
That wouldn't work with many disabilities. - Linzee  1045.0 #162 9:56AM
^^this! - MinnieMousewife  870.4 #189 10:01AM
I have never heard of this until my son's Spacial ed teacher told me about this today. My 6yr old son suffers from aspergers syndrome a form of Autism. He deffinatly doesn't handle waiting in line for very long he gets over stimulated with that many people around I usually have to hold him the whole time in line. We will be at the park this Sunday and again June 25,26,27. I have his IEP stating my sons condition. - dericknhaleysmommy  177.4 #2196 3:18PM
You're good to go. My son is a year older and for some attractions it's a blessing otherwise he would never get to experience them. We brought him in April for Blue Light for Autism day. - BombFrogFormerCM  856.3 #194 3:36PM
My daughter is wheelchair bound with over 10 diagnosis...her make a wish trip was in 2006 and we are fortunate she is still around witjout the disability pass we get Maddie would not get to experience the magic at disneyland its sad soany abuse it.... - formadi  24.5 #6053 9:38PM
I have a Madi too!! I'm so happy that your Maddie is still enjoying DL! Much love & pixie dust!! - DiamondInTheRough  349.6 #618 9:58PM

I'm honestly surprised they haven't put them in yet. - Sarafina  487.4 #397 2:29PM
U was just thinking about thatπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ - elidina29  48.7 #4539 2:51PM
Some of them barely even check bags. I have had one checker literally just give my bag a light squeeze and tell me to go ahead. - lohofosho  784.9 #212 3:10PM
For some reason something always has to happen for things to get better :( - RAQQUEL  49.8 #4502 3:53PM
Do they have a detector to make sure people have a brain in their head? - Westcoast  135.8 #2850 6:16PM
Could have been carried by an off duty cop. I used to work at the stadium here and there were allowed to bring in their firearms with proper ID. - Lelundrial  560.0 #331 12:38PM
Off duty cops cannot bring guns into the parks. - WifeofaCM  206.6 #1830 1:54PM
Says who? They can legally carry their guns on them. I just don't want people to automatically jump to the wrong conclusion. - Lelundrial  560.0 #331 1:55PM
Says Disneyland security. Not sure about WDW. - Darlingwendi  1188.2 #132 1:58PM
Disneyland is private property and therefore they are allowed to set their own rules. One of which is no firearms unless its an on duty officer. - lostgirl7988  697.6 #247 1:59PM
WDW is the same way. - lostgirl7988  697.6 #247 1:59PM
They can set their own rules all they want. I would love to hear them try to lecture the chief of police. - Lelundrial  560.0 #331 3:19PM
I just asked my friend what the rules would be, he said that he can carry his fire arm if he wants to. He also said that DL security may require a letter from his Sheriff like airlines do. He said its up to the officer/ deputy to carry it if they want. - APirateslifeforme31  169.0 #2333 3:39PM
^has he ever tried to carry it in Disneyland? They will not allow it. - Darlingwendi  1188.2 #132 3:53PM
He's carried it on every plane ride he's been on. The security on those is much more strict I would assume. - APirateslifeforme31  169.0 #2333 3:57PM
Well you can assume all you want, but according to Disney FAQs and policy, you are not allowed to bring weapons of any kind into the theme park...off duty officer or not. - Darlingwendi  1188.2 #132 4:10PM
Well clearly someone did. So there goes that theory. - APirateslifeforme31  169.0 #2333 4:17PM
Sure they can sneak them in... But I don't want people to automatically jump to the wrong conclusion that it's allowed. - Darlingwendi  1188.2 #132 4:31PM
Disney Hotels and Security have a policy and a place for LEOs to keep their firearms while they enjoy DL and DCA. - BombFrogFormerCM  856.3 #194 4:32PM
^this. - Darlingwendi  1188.2 #132 4:39PM
As a parent this scares me deeply. How can people be this dumb. What if a child found this gun and thought it was a toy and shot himself or someone else? He lost it on Dinosaur in Disneyworld because he said the ride was bumpy. The ride was bumpy? Dude all the rides are bumpy. No guns at anything Disney. I should feel safe there. - jasw18  90.1 #3599 8:58AM

I have a question...how many of you have honestly thought about keeping one of these instead of hand it off to the CM? (I did...but I gave it to the CM at Little Mermaid like I was supposed to)

Did you have this around your neck yesterday? If so I saw you! LOL - MrsSchnooks  3111.6 #40 11:10PM
Sadly it was not me...I wish that I was in the parks yesterday. - TheWallpaper  4.7 #18235 11:15PM
Never, because that would be stealing & what would be the reason you would want it? - Armenda  1153.8 #138 11:01PM
I guess as a souvenir. But yeah, shouldn't take that. Plus then you would be negatively effecting the wait times system which we all count on. - lohofosho  784.9 #212 11:04PM
I have never considered it but I did take it home once. I brought it back the next day and gave it to my manager. They just laughed at me 😐 - TINO  379.2 #547 11:17PM
