I live in Victoria, BC and believe DL to be my home away from home. My husband are often there thanks to our DVC membership. We're hoping to meet others just as passionate about all things Disney as we are.

My little bit of Disney at work. How do you bring some Disney wherever you are?
I have Minnie Mouse key holder attached to my badge, and a Mickey Mouse AP pass holder converted to hold my badge. The little kids love it. Some how not so threatening when I go to work.  - Sugarbuzz  138.7 #2750 7:49PM

Hey all! We're coming down the first week of November. I saw last year about that time they were starting to film for the Christmas Parade. Does anyone know if that is happening at the same time this year? I just want to be prepared for closers.
If your looking for all the holiday feeling of Disneyland I believe it's starts a few weeks before thanksgiving. Depending on when you arrive that first week you may be in luck! Either way it's a good time to visit crowds are low - MinnieMyLove  141.7 #2691 6:53AM
If your meaning ride closers or park closers, unless they are being referbed or having tech issues the attractions won't be closed due to filming. Also, the parks rarely close for the filming of the Christmas Day Parade, they film it on Main Street while the rest of the park is open to regular guest traffic. - Donaldfan_532  231.4 #1458 8:13AM
Great time to visit! We always go in the middle of November around the 14th and have seen the parade filmed, but doesn't close any of the rides :)  - WirTANenAtDisney  68.2 #3889 8:52AM
In the past few years, the Christmas Day parade has been filmed the first Saturday in November.  It's my birthday weekend (Nov. 4th), so dodging the filming in Main Street has become  a tradition.   You can avoid it by ducking into the stores and walking to the end of the street that way.   As for decorations, they're mostly in the parade sshots,  but the rest of the park is transitioning from Halloween to Christmas very slowly  during this time.   It takes time to make the magic happen!   Enjoy the countdown  to your visit!  - susieQzee  547.4 #320 10:30AM

So we're taking my 5 year old stepson to DL this fall. He's never been on a roller coaster or any ride for that matter. I could use some suggestions on where to start with him.
Gadget's Go Coaster in Toontown is a really mild one to start with - we took our then 3 year old on it to test her and when she got off and yelled " that was awesome!" we knew she was good to go! - DisneyOnesie  531.4 #334 7:56AM
I'd start with any of the fantasyland rides. They're a lot milder than any others. Next, gadgets go coaster or roger rabbit. If starting in DCA maybe heimlich's chew chew train? - TiggersAndTinks  111.7 #3206 8:55AM
I would say Pirates is a good ride to gauge if he wants to do more. It has two mild drops in it but the remainder of the ride is slow moving in a boat. If he likes Gadget Coaster, I would step up to Matterhorn or Goofy Sky School. Kids seem to love sky school - missmimi90  1398.5 #92 10:22AM
I agree that Gadget's Go Coaster is a good first rollercoaster (and we adults like it too).  Another ride he might like is Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters -- it's a ride and you can spin in it and you get to shoot at Zurg. - Taunton  121.2 #3018 1:06PM

Look what we found! An action-adventure mystery about Walt Disney and Disneyland!! Can't wait to start reading.
Cool! - KelstersInc2319  41.7 #4636 7:02PM
It's a whole series of books. I have an autographed edition from the D23 expo! Lots of fun Disney facts and makes you feel like your in the Park.. but I can't say that it's very well written.. and is geared for young , pre-teen girls.. Sory for the strong opinion.. It's still all about Disney so I suffered through it..;-( - carminaire  567.9 #304 7:07PM

5 days until our Disney CRUISE!!!! I'm a little bummed that they've gotten rid of the pirate night and replaced it with a Pixar pal party. I was looking forward to dressing up.
Have a great time! I'd love to do a Disney cruise one day. - NellTinkerBell  322.8 #693 6:57AM
Wouldn't you want to do it for a 3 day? Or 5? Or 7 day? 😜 Haha! Jk! - simba77  311.4 #736 12:01PM
They did? That stinks, was looking forward to that for our next cruise. - Lelundrial  468.4 #392 7:47AM

Does anyone happen to know if they do pin trading on Disney cruises? I'm just wandering if I should pack pins to trade or not.
I'm pretty sure they do. Have fun on your cruise! I love cruises and hope to do a Disney cruise someday soon. - MXPrincess399  646.3 #257 7:48AM
Dang it has been over a year, I want to say yes but can't be 100% sure. They definitely sell pins on the ship. - Lelundrial  468.4 #392 8:31AM

Hey guys! We're thinking of coming down either the last week of October or the first full week of November. What do you think is the best time as far as crowds go? Also does anyone know how to find out which rides will be closed?
There will still be Halloween parties going on during the last week of October, so I would suggest November. - JoshTheJunkyardJamboreer  309.3 #752 3:57PM
Hubby and I are flying down the end of October for a grown up get away! Can't wait! - Disneymomab  31.2 #5162 4:04PM
BTMR should be open again at the beginning of November. Mickeys not so scary Halloween party will be going on for much of the last week of Oct, bring a costume and pay extra and join in, or have to leave DL early. - JenGwen323  1206.9 #112 4:09PM
We are going to be in the park Oct. 29-Nov 2nd. Going to have Halloween there. - keepmovingforward  104.8 #3306 4:22PM
