I'm thinking about purchasing the Magic Meal Plan for our five day stay this November. I have a couple of questions? Did the vouchers cover all, or most of the costs of your meals and snacks? What is the difference between "Character Dining" and "Premium Character Dining?" Did you consider the convenience of the vouchers worth the cost of the plan?
We've used the meal plan before at Disneyland, last time was in 2009. Its a dollar for dollar value. Its nice if you are trying to control your food spending, you pre-purchase your meals so there is no worry about running out of food money. You just can't go expensive on everything. - GoofyMomma  191.5 #1727 7:36PM
It was awesome at WDW never done it or know anyone that has used it at dl - HiddenMickeyFanatic  263.2 #886 7:36PM
I don't think dl meal plan is worth getting. Then you have to eat at those locations and your not saving any money. - rachelelizabeth  146.6 #2335 7:53AM
I would say use Disney gift cards. The meal plan just isn't worth it. - ekwhite  463.3 #263 12:51PM

Good morning MW! I'm nearing the end of my first month on MW. I think I'm getting settled in quite nicely. Thanks for the great FAQ resource, and all the friendly people, tips and advice. Thanks to the trivia questions, I hope to raise my rank to 100 in my first month! I can't wait until November; MW live and in the parks will be so cool! Thanks for all the fun and my DL fix!
Welcome! But with all the names available you had to pick one so close to mine :( - JollyRoger5  1873.9 #39 5:10PM
Sorry, it is a handle our family adopted, as the five of us are a bunch of pirate loving scallywags. Of course, I had no way of knowing I would find another Jolly Roger already aboard! I hope this can be a point of connection, not contention! - 5JollyRogers  202.4 #1590 11:01PM
Good morning. I'm really glad you're enjoying yourself here. Maybe next time you're at DLR you can host a meet up and meet some fantastic MW'rs. - DisneyGrandma  338.0 #440 9:29AM

New to MW and still learning the ropes! My family is planning our second family trip, for five days in November. My 15 year old son is autistic, even though we had a great visit last time, I'd appreciate any tips from other families, who have children with special needs. We utilized the special pass, for accommodations on wait lines and boarding. Also, Andy loves the Pixar movies and character  More...
I just wanted to comment that we're also going in November! My friends child is autistic and she said that she had him watch videos of the rides so there were no surprises. She said it helped during their trip. - Autty40  4.6 #11277 10:50PM
Great idea! - 5JollyRogers  202.4 #1590 11:03PM
My son is Autistic and 16. We too use the special needs pass. I also will ask to sit in the back row of rides like its a small world and on pirates just so he doesn't feel surrounded by people and some times we juat sit down on a bench or go on the train or somewhere peaceful just do he can take a break. Hope you have a great time. - Apples2  338.5 #437 8:59PM

If smells are a sensory issue, keep in mind that the area near POTC has a musty, swampy smell. The Redwood Creek Challenge area at DCA has some quiet, shady spots and also allows for physical activity, climbing etc if this is calming. The 3D Bugs Life show causes my daughter some anxiety so we skip it. Animation Theater is a great place to meander at your own pace. What type of issues are you most concerned with? - MamaRoo  345.7 #422 11:38PM
The climbing tip for DCA is awesome - thanks! My guy is active, he will love that as break! He loves the zoetrope in the animation theater too! We added two extra days to this visit from our previous trip, so we can do things at a pace that keeps Andy happy without the rest of us feeling like we are missing out on the fun! Moving in crowds is hard physically and wears down his tolerance for other things. We also learned that he's not a coaster guy, but does well on slower, themed type rides, POTC, jungle cruise, autotopia, small world, etc... I've already decided that if we attempt something more daring, we'll do it at the end of the day. Last year we did space mountain early in the day, he freaked out and was resistive to everything else that day. I'm hoping to learn as much from other families who have had more opportunities in the park than we've had. Thanks for your help! - 5JollyRogers  202.4 #1590 4:45PM
