Has anyone gone to the parks the weekend right before Thanksgiving?? Trying to decide whether to go during the avengers marathon weekend or the following weekend which will be the weekend before thanksgiving. which weekend will be less crowded?? lol thanks in advance!
I know it's frustrating, but the crowd levels have shifted considerably in the last couple of years--so much so that it seems like even people who visit several times a week are caught off guard sometimes.  It will be crowded both weekends (run weekends are always busy and many schools take the whole week off for Thanksgiving).  I am not sure that there's any way to know exactly which one will be worse--I wish I had better answers for you!  We have started going into every trip with the mindset that it will just be crowded and we have worked out ways to circumvent the busiest times in the parks, in order to make the most of our days.  Arrive at rope drop, and go on all your "must-do attractions in the first few hours. Take a break midday, and come back to have dinner and watch a show, and maybe try to get a few fast passes.  When things feel awful, sit down and have a cup of tea/coffee or hop on the train and circle around to regroup.  Good luck!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.6 #336 3:40PM
Oh, also: take note of when parades and shows are going to be ending, and plan on avoiding those areas until things calm down.  Fireworks from IASW are lovely, and if you jet over to the Toontown train station as they end, it's a much less stressful situation than trying to walk through the Hub.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.6 #336 3:42PM
That was very helpful, thank you!  - LennaH  143.3 #2660 3:58PM
You're welcome!  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.6 #336 4:17PM
And keep to the right, hang on yo each other and walk briskly with the crowds, using shortcuts whenever you can. And if it gets too crowded, sit away from the crowd and let one person be your runner for fast passes and food!  If all law fails, go to a show or dinner! - secretagentangel  1242.8 #101 10:45PM
Sorry I would edit but sometimes it seems like there aren't any laws in crowds!! - secretagentangel  1242.8 #101 10:46PM
Oh yes the keep to the right, walk single file, and pass on the left is so important!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.6 #336 10:48PM
I would think the weekend before would be better than the weekend of thanksgiving   Any weekend there is an event is packed - DeneciePie  314.8 #720 2:53PM
We went last year on Sunday during T- weekend. I remember how empty is seemed and we were surprised about no crowd. - Sleepingbeautysmom  294.1 #828 10:37PM
That's the great thing about going into a trip expecting crowds: it feels like such a treat if it ends up the crowds are light!  Win-win.  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  526.6 #336 10:50PM
Last year Saturday wasn't bad but Sunday and Monday got crazy - Disneyprincessvmk  37.1 #4821 10:57PM

Hi everyone! I have a quick Disney-related question. I was thinking of buying a bunch of disney gift cards to use as spending money in the parks for our upcoming trip. But can you use the gift cards for everything, including food? Has anyone done this before?
That's what we do, but we get them when we arrive at the parks. We buy two or three in large amounts to use for the trip, because it makes it easier than tracking 5,000 transactions on our debit card lol. Every place in the parks takes them, including the carts.  Not sure about parking, but I would assume they do.  For us, it is a great way to stay in budget and not come home to 3 pages of bank transactions. - Thumper13  354.9 #572 10:35AM
Also, every time you use it, the remaining balance will show at the bottom of your receipt. - Thumper13  354.9 #572 10:37AM
we have used them for food at the parks restaurants, not sure about the food carts. - snowgrey  4.5 #17658 10:16AM
I have seen posted on here that at SAMs Club there was a 3 pack of $50's for $142.98 - HatBox  5.0 #15566 12:10PM
We do the same. There are a few shops (like the magic shop, crystal shop, etc) that won't accept them because they are contracted shops and not Disney. - wannahockaloogie  156.1 #2468 1:41PM

#food: has anyone eaten the dinner buffet at Storytellers Cafe? how is it?
Yes! It is wonderful! ! - HauntedMansionDiva  247.3 #1250 10:50AM
It's good, there's a chowder that everyone raves about, if I remember correctly.  You can get ice cream, but I think you have to ask for it.   - bluefairy  643.3 #257 10:50AM

Hey everyone! So my hubby and I are planning on going to Disneyland the weekend of Nov. 20 (a week before thanksgiving) but I've read that it's pretty crowded around that time...can anyone verify that? would it be less crowded the 2nd weekend in Nov or within the first 2 weeks of December? any input would be appreciated! Thanks!
It's always crowded! It's disneyland!!!!! - goofydad909  1831.8 #66 6:11PM
I went the first week of nov last year and it was not busy at all rode everything several times... I am guessing the second weekend is similar to that. I have read anytime during the fall is the best time to go.  - sagarcia4  34.8 #4928 6:12PM
We ALWAYS go in November (my bday) last year we were there the 17-21 and it was not that bad at all. The longest we waited was 25ins for the big attraction rides (minus RSR)  - WirTANenAtDisney  66.5 #3904 7:30PM
Thats my bday Nov 20 ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽ‰ i just had to say that Lol but i've gone around that time and its not that bad.  - iLOVELUCYnDISNEY  638.5 #261 7:37PM

Hi everyone.. quick question. How are the crowds the week before Thanksgiving usually? Hubby and I are thinking of going around that time this year... I know that's a ways away but it's never too early to plan a Disney vacation right? :-)
I heard e it's one of the best times to goย  - MermaidLei  281.8 #913 9:08PM
We went last year the week before Thanksgiving and pretty much walked on every ride. The longest we waited at DL was 20 minutes for Peter Pan. Plus it's already decorated for Christmas so you still get to enjoy that :) - calebsmommy  27.8 #5389 9:09PM

So yesterday was a very sad day...our annual passes expired, and we won't be renewing :-( I have to say that this was one of the most thrilling year of my life with tons of memories. Hopefully we'll be able to be annual passholders again, but until then I expect MW to fill that Disney void lol! Here's a little collage of our trips throughout the year.
Wonderful collage! I feel for you - I don't know whether or not we will be able to renew ours when they expire in March, but I sure hope so! I hope you are able to get them again in the future! - DisneyOnesie  528.8 #333 1:13PM

Does anyone know if they take Starbucks gift cards at either of the starbucks in DL or DCA? thanks!
I use my gold card there so I believe so. Just can't redeem free drinks.  - ythdudette  943.8 #157 10:56AM
yes they dont build rewards and you cant use them..but the regular gift cards work - DumboGal70  122.8 #2972 10:58AM
You still earn stars towards rewards. Just can't redeem the free rewards.ย  - KermitFan13  644.0 #256 12:12PM
The Starbucks inside Market House is a "licensed store", which means all partnersย are Disney Cast Members, but all beverages/products sold must adhere to Starbucks quality standards. This location will accept your Starbucks cards; however, it will not be able to access your rewards. You will still earn your stars, from what I understand. - Alicewhoareyou  1024.4 #144 12:48PM

Just booked the Ramada Anaheim Maingate on Harbor Blvd for our October trip! Has anyone stayed there before? How is it?
I have stayed there before. It's clean and comfortable. Great customer service and my kids LOVED the pool! - disneymom1  192.4 #1949 10:34PM
My favorite place to stay! Did you pay in full yet? If you do, I think you can get 20-30% off your room. I really like that they have a fridge and microwave in the room, it helped us save quite a bit of money to eat a few meals at our hotel room. Their breakfast is pretty good too. Nothing fancy, things like cereal, fruit, toast, eggs. The front desk staff is always very friendly and helpful and our rooms have always been clean.  - Geekery  401.5 #473 10:39PM
Yes! It is our preferred place to stay! The staff is very nice. - APirateslifeforme31  148.4 #2571 10:40PM

Ok I have a question... If you could choose any of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels to stay at, which would it be and why?
I'm staying at the Grand in September and the DH in January so I'll tell you then lol - maryv00  164.7 #2341 9:24AM
Grand Californian. It's a very beautiful hotel and I love the outdoors and the structure of it reminds me of a log cabin, plus the pool is amazing and it's also a one way ticket to DCA paradise.  - wickedlyraven.  408.2 #465 9:13AM
Thanks everyone! I'm trying to raise money to be able to stay at one of the DLR hotels in October *fingers crossed*. These hotels don't offer complimentary breakfast, do they? - LennaH  143.3 #2660 1:07PM
No - MrsSchnooks  2703.4 #35 1:18PM
No free breakfast and any of the resort hotels. You can up grade to concierge level  and then would have a continental breakfast, snack and drinks available. Would run you around an extra $150.00 a night. - Goofytom  875.8 #169 1:16PM
