Well, I can't go in, but DTD is the next best thing. Too bad there isn't a pass just to go to Animation Academy and to shop. I'd be happy just to do that. DTD will have to satisfy me today. Until my next visit, anyway. Who knows when that will be.

A long time ago in the 80's I used to be able to get a shopping pass & I did a few times to pick up something from the watch shop etc. - ShariRenee  12074.7 #8 1:17PM
Oh and have fun in DTD! - ShariRenee  12074.7 #8 1:18PM
They still did that a few years ago. No more - Winnie111286  23985.8 #2 1:40PM
Hope you have an enjoyable day! - teach67  326.2 #828 1:32PM
They offered the shopping pass up until about nine years ago.  You gave them your credit card and were given an hour to shop.  You then had to check in after that hour.  If you didn't check back in in time, then they charged your card for a one day pass. - DisneyHeidi09  296.7 #1008 1:34PM

UPDATE! I was hoping to do a solo, one day, park hopper trip, but the more responsible part of me just won't let me justify the cost for just one day. So I guess I will hang out in DD. Maybe come up with a RAK? Just when I thought I'd get my first solo. I will just have to wet my whistle! Maybe I'll see one of you on Friday? Thanks for the ideas on what to do! Dear Fabulous Mousewaite  More...

Are you or your spouse active duty or retired military by chance?  If so there's a three day hopper ticket that's good until the end of the year(confirm the expiration on line). You don't gave to use the days consecutively. A couple of days it won't be good, like Fourth of July and Labor Day I think. Costs under $145.  - Ilovegoofy  131.5 #3122 5:15PM
Unfortunately,  no.  But what a great way to honor our service men and women! - iteachdisney  202.4 #2050 5:26PM
Darn!  Okay, I'm a pretty practical person so I would first check the crow forecast here on MW. Then I'd check the park hours and see if that gives me enough time to enjoy it to the fullest. And I'd also ask myself if spending time in DTD would be enough to quench my thirst for the Disney experience. No matter which you choose I hope you have a  time - Ilovegoofy  131.5 #3122 6:04PM
Also check times as you want to get a ticket and use it for the most hours possible which I believe is on Saturdays., - secretagentangel  8625.9 #11 6:07PM
I will be attending a wedding on Saturday, so that's out.  This is when I really miss my AP. Soon,  but not yet. Too bad my daughter isn't working there yet! Also,  is the park even doing SoCal passes anymore? Thought about calling a friend to go with me,  but she was busy and said she only goes if her mom bus get a locals only pass. Pfft! - iteachdisney  202.4 #2050 7:05PM

this  - OhanaPhoto  6579.5 #20 9:21AM
If you decide to just do DTD, you can always have a nice lunch or dinner and any of the restaurants and then shop it up at World of Disney and the hotel gift shops if needed followed by a viewing of the fireworks from outside the gates. You'd miss the inside, but sometimes the outside can be cool especially if you haven't seen the merchandise for a while. I usually spend 2-3 hours combing over just WOD! Lol - TheRealAlice  237.9 #1582 8:37PM
- iteachdisney  202.4 #2050 9:56PM
Just consider that, depending on where you go, the amount you'll spend on lunch, a drink, shopping, etc in DTD might not be all that much less than what you'd spend on a one day ticket to DL if you bring food in and don't buy souvenirs. :)  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  660.5 #335 12:30PM
Good point. Aaargh. - iteachdisney  202.4 #2050 12:39PM
Sorry to complicate things, haha.  Honestly, I think you'll be happy no matter what you decide--can't really go wrong with either one :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  660.5 #335 1:00PM
No worries!  I'm sure DTD will be fine.  It does break my heart a little to be so close and not inside of the gates,  though.   - iteachdisney  202.4 #2050 2:33PM

Hello Mousewait friends! Looks like I will be making an unscheduled trip to Tustin (sp?l in May. How close is that to Disney Home? I need to find somewhere super inexpensive to stay. Plus side? I might get to cross a solo trip off of my bucket list!

You are so close... Less than 10 miles!  Good luck! - Dianat710  84.8 #4003 8:52PM

I just searched, but couldn't find the answer to my son's question, so forgive me, please, if I'm just blind. with the opening of the new StarWars Land, will Start Tours and Space Mountain and Innoventions/launch bay be moving as well? it seems weird to have two StarWars focal points. or did I just miss this info completely? I weild my cutro as light saber!

They haven't said anything about that but many are asking. There's SO many rumors that it's best to just wait till Disney announces it but I do think they'll have to move somethings.  - secretagentangel  8625.9 #11 12:05PM
- iteachdisney  202.4 #2050 11:56AM
It unofficial but the star wars bay and star tours will remain until the new land opens and hyperspace mnt is or will be a seasonal like ghost galaxy, there is unofficial rumor that once the new land open they will close star tours or maybe move it over, time will tell as they did expand it to 14 acres now - pikarich  6555.4 #21 12:10PM
Space Mountain is part of the original theme of Tomorrowland so I don't see it closing/moving anytime soon. Just me personally I have no problem with leaving Star Tours open once Star Wars Land opens especially the time/effort that went into renovating it only a few years ago. Seems like a waste of money to renovate it and then close it down just to spend more money to move it. Star Wars Launch Bay is a Character Meet and Greet area for both Star Wars And Marvel characters so I don't see launch bay moving as well. - Donaldfan_532  248.8 #1446 12:18PM

I've missed you all! It seems like so long since I have posted, but I have been lurking and keeping an Eye on you as well as keeping you all in my heart. We will be at Disneyland for Thanksgiving this year. We have never been for the actual holiday and I am wondering if I will need to make dining reservations. Can I just push my teenage boys off to a Turkey Leg vendor? ;) or maybe a corn dog?  More...

I would DEFINITELY make some kind of reservation. You can cancel 24 hours in advance if you change your mind. But when it is crazy busy during Thanksgiving, it's good to know you won't have to wait in a huge line. Look for something like Carnation Cafe or Cafe Orleans if you don't want something too fancy. You will be glad you did. Just put a calendar reminder the day before to cancel if you change your mind, otherwise a no show is $10 each person. As long as ONE person shows though, they won't charge if you don't have everyone with you. But I've seen 30-45 minute lines for Turkey Legs, etc on those days. - DLKenCA  3022.4 #51 10:42PM
Although I did not make reservations for a Thanksgiving dinner, the pictures some people posted in the past would encourage me to if I every go on Thanksgiving again. Seem to remember people going to a buffet at the Disneyland hotel - E-Ticket  1478.9 #128 8:21PM
I posted a couple posts the other day all about thanksgiving and the various offering at each restaurants. Reservations are a good idea if you want to be sure to get a seat at your favorite. I will tag you in my latest post. And yay!  It will be fun! - MeridaFan  4244.2 #39 9:08PM
