I would stay at the grand! The ease of having ur room right there will more than pay for itself! Pack lots of snacks so you save $$ on the little things that will $15 buck you to death ...plus dunno how far out u are from your trip but someone suggested you buy disney giftcards each time you go grocery shopping so that you have stashed away $$ for Disneyland

The Grand is a beautiful hotel. However, you gotta remember that all you're going to be doing in the hotel is relax and sleep. All your play time is done at the parks. If you booked your trip at the Howard Johnson, you'll have more than enough money left over for tons of souvenirs. Especially for his birthday. Also, if you are planning your trip in the warmer months, I do believe they have an awesome little water park that they can keep occupied in. There's so many nice hotels along harbour bld that are just as close to the parks as the grand is and plus with the extra money saved instead of being able to go to Disneyland only every 5 years you can go once a year with the money saved staying at one of the good neighbor hotels - steffi 5.6 #9598 9:52AM
