So.. What do u guys think about disney enforcing the fastpass rule??

I'm ok with it. I like being able to come back whenever but I don't mind sticking to the time if it means I don't have to wait 40 minutes in the Ghost Galaxy FP line because everyone who got a pass in the morning wants to ride at night. - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #108 4:25PM
There should be a wider time period to accommodate everyone - MarshaMouse  2871.9 #15 4:31PM
Agreed! - MoonWillow  371.9 #373 4:35PM
Yeah. One more hour in the window would be nice and I don't think it would affect the standby line too much. - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #108 5:09PM
With other lines being about an hour long or sometimes longer, or just having kids or big group, it's hard to move at a quicker pace. Sometimes the parades slow me down by good 10-15 minutes which would only take me 5 minutes to get to. A two hour window seems more realistic. - MarshaMouse  2871.9 #15 5:43PM
It blows. - donnievegas  1127.5 #73 4:04PM
put so eloquently! - Minnis2Society  360.0 #391 4:09PM
Straight to the point. - Jacqueline  546.7 #205 4:38PM
I run late for everything so in my case it does = ( - donnievegas  1127.5 #73 4:51PM
I'm with Donnie. - SueBayou  2012.0 #34 5:55PM
Always late? Are you Mexican Donnie?? Heehee - PrincessDuckie  588.9 #188 10:23AM
But I'm with you. - PrincessDuckie  588.9 #188 10:24AM
It sucks. - LaTruce  1670.4 #45 11:59AM
Poor CMs I know they are going to take a lot of heat for this... I'm a be extra nice when I see them :) - Mortimer-mouse  62.6 #3535 10:19AM

We have been fortunate that Disney has allowed this rule to exist for so long now and it was just a matter of time that the rule had to change to what the rule really is - BaseballMickey_CM  2863.7 #16 4:59PM
Meh. I understand both sides of the equation. - Alicewhoareyou  536.3 #210 4:03PM
Seems to be working just fine the way it is, why change it? - cynDOLEwhip  744.1 #137 4:07PM
Agree! - adventurerEnDisneylandia {AED}  278.7 #746 4:37PM
The answer to that is that Disney wants guests off the rides and in the restaurants and stores, spending money. Fast Pass was developed to get people out of lines, and spending money instead. This is not theory, it was widely published at the time. Disney has now realized that if people are using multiple fast passes all day, they are not spending money. At the end of the day, Disney is a business. - Bo22  331.1 #468 5:17PM
I hate it 😱 - desert-princess  4.6 #11510 7:08PM
Ripped off by lack of knowledge? :P - Simmeltron  176.3 #1912 12:15PM
Yes. Now I feel dumb. But thanks to IDVansalskipper, you've been real helpful on this post. 👍 - Philliprocks  277.4 #756 12:28PM
When did they start? - disneydi  10.6 #6599 4:13PM
Leave it alone - bobster56  138.2 #2475 4:54PM
Wait what's the new fast pass rule??? Do we have to come back on the exact time now? - mickeyat  298.1 #620 5:08PM
Yuppers! Not sure when it starts though - LBChica  1501.6 #52 5:10PM
Ahh okay good to know thanks! - mickeyat  298.1 #620 9:55AM
I always returned within my FP window. - Lelundrial  341.4 #429 5:11PM
Look what you've missed out on all this time! - Alicewhoareyou  536.3 #210 5:11PM
Me too, Disney is the one place where I feel like I need to follow the rules ;) - ShariRenee  1562.5 #50 5:12PM
It worked for us. Used that time to hit other rides with shorter lines. - Lelundrial  341.4 #429 7:02PM
Not knowing the rules in Florida were different than SoCal, we got denied entry into Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom in July 2012 because we missed the return time window by 45 minutes. Bit of a bummer but as long as I know the rules, we had no other problems after that one issue. - SETumbo  295.7 #638 5:14PM
Is this official finally? - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 5:16PM
Starting around Thanksgiving I think it's going to start being enforced with full enforcement starting around Christmas. I haven't heard anything from my leads or managers yet though. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 6:02PM
Thanks! The rumors have been swirling for years about this--I expected it to happen at some point! :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 6:12PM
Yeah. It'll take some getting used to and consistency on the CM part. Hopefully all FP attractions keep the same consistency in allowing/not allowing FP returns. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 6:22PM
Holidays are sooo crowded so I get it - MarshaMouse  2871.9 #15 7:11PM
I knew this was happening in disneyworld....but is it going to start at disneyland? If so, I agree with donnievegas!!! - dsnymom2bandb  305.3 #586 5:33PM
What is the new policy? - ilovepink949  3.5 #17643 5:38PM
When you get a fp it gives you a time frame (ex:1:10-2:10) that you are to return in but really they let you use it anytime after the initial time passed so you could save them throughout the day and use the all at once or however you wanted to. Hope this made sense:) - princessamandamarie  213.0 #1450 6:56PM
But, their new policy is that you can't do that ^^ and that you have to come between your time frame, or else they will not allow you to use the fastpass - MEHlanie_Mouse  694.3 #144 10:16AM
Without rules there is Anarchy. - splashphotoCM  880.9 #101 5:56PM
I never knew you could go back anytime. I only learned about this on MW. We always went back at the alloted time. - DisneyVacationLover  274.9 #783 6:06PM
Me too. I didn't know you could do that! They should of never allowed it in the first place. - PrincessDuckie  588.9 #188 12:08PM
I'm not crazy about it because I don't like having to pay attention to the clock when I'm at DL. Sometimes we might decide to park hop, so we might have to think twice before trekking back and forth. I'm sure Disney has a good reason though, for purposes of crowd control. - 7mouskedoodles  161.1 #2141 6:10PM
I like that they're going back to that. Fp lines are too long. If you don't like it, don't use it :-) - Krissy Marissy  411.0 #317 6:59PM
That stinks. I like being able to get fast passes for rsr and coming back at night to ride it with all the neons on. With the passes being gone within an hour of opening, its hard to get the time frame i want. Just my opinion. - HasAnyoneSeenMyGlassSlipper  324.2 #507 7:01PM
Have they begun enforcing it already? My parents and I are going Wednesday and I want to be sure! Thank you :) - SarahJoshDisney  69.5 #3419 7:10PM
Nevermind, I just read IDVandalSkipperCM's response! Thank you! So we can expect this around November... - SarahJoshDisney  69.5 #3419 7:15PM
I've never had a problem staying within the fast pass guidelines. Even when my children were younger we just worked around the times and never had a problem with it. - verolly  302.2 #601 7:16PM
I'm good with it . We also just worked around the times . - dlcowboyfan  282.7 #716 7:19PM
I can understand enforcing a same day rule but the time thing sometimes is a bit challenging. When we were in Florida we got to Big Thunder 10 min after our time and they wouldn't take it. It was very frustrating. - MicheyMouse  264.6 #876 7:19PM
I think this actually may cause more GAC abuse or even longer stand by lines. Wonder if it will last very long or not. - Disneycrazymom  99.5 #3044 10:02AM
Fastpasses cause longer stand by lines. - Linzee  518.9 #225 10:04AM
O.o? - MEHlanie_Mouse  694.3 #144 10:15AM
Linzee is right--the more fastpasses that are handed out, the longer the stand by line is. This was especially the case when we didn't (don't) enforce the return times. People come in masses--after the parade, fireworks, fantasmic. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 10:25AM
Oh, I get it.. since people decide to use their passes around those times at night, the fastpass line is longer, and then Standby becomes longer from the masses, so then it takes longer since there's too many fast passes? I think... lol - MEHlanie_Mouse  694.3 #144 10:28AM
Also, if an attraction happens to break down, will they allow you to use your fastpass at a later time then? O.O - MEHlanie_Mouse  694.3 #144 10:28AM
Here's how FastPass works (at least at Indy, not sure about other attractions). When you get up to the temple entrance, there is a CM stationed with a video screen to monitor where the line is inside. If any FP holder comes up, they have right of way into the attraction, no matter what the line looks inside. Stand by is dependent on how long the line inside is. If it's short, we let stand by in until it reaches a certain point. If it is long, we will pulse stand by at an appropriate rate. It could be one group every 15 seconds or one group every 2 minutes. The longer the wait is outside = the longer the line inside + amount of fastpasses entering the attraction at that time. I think this is similar to how Space Mountain does it. The only time at Indy we are allowed to stop FP entrance is if we are pulsing one stand by group into the attraction. Hope this kind of makes sense. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 10:37AM
^^^ I noticed that at Space Mountain last week. I saw the CM watching a screen and he made us FP holders and stand-by people wait. My son asked us why we were waiting, and I told him he had to wait for the line to get to a certain point. When we went at the Halloween party, I was able to see the screen he was looking at. I feel bad for you guys. When this happened on Autopia these people were complaining. I then explained the line to my son very loudly so they could hear. - Lelundrial  341.4 #429 10:45AM
The real issues with long stand by lines occur when we've been down off and on throughout the day and all the FP guests come back at once. I have seen the line long enough that it is backed up completely out to the temple entrance. We can only do so much to keep lines flowing at that point. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 10:49AM
Thunder Mountain went down when we were there last week. The people holding FPs for when it went down, came back. But they appeared to come back sporadically. - Lelundrial  341.4 #429 11:50AM
At BTMRR they are able to handle a bigger percentage of FP guests. If I remember right from training they hand out the largest ratio of FP to stand by in the entire park. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 11:53AM
It always happens this time of year so its nothing new. - vincentchase  642.1 #169 10:27AM
Please do keep in mind there likely will be flexibility if the attraction goes down during the day (i.e. Indy, Space). I don't know how it will work as I haven't had any leads or managers ask us to start enforcing yet and we haven't gone through any sort of "training" or refresh about fastpass return windows. Please do keep in mind that it will take some getting used to on both the CM and the guest (namely AP) part. It may not be a smooth transition, but hopefully WDW has worked out the kinks. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 10:27AM
Lol thanks, you just answered my question from the other comment up there ^ :] - MEHlanie_Mouse  694.3 #144 10:31AM
I find it perfectly reasonable. No issues here. - Sheilamo  318.2 #531 10:28AM
They're gggrrrrrrreat!! - kristian  1785.4 #43 10:38AM
I could see how for APs enforcing the time window could be an "inconvience", but it makes sense to enforce it. Last week at Space Mountain the FastPass line was almost as long as the standby line. For every 25 FastPasses that were admitted only 6 guests from standby were admitted. Eventually our line just stopped moving altogether. We stood there for about 45 minutes before we gave up and left. - NotNKansasAnymor  177.3 #1902 11:29AM
It makes sense to enforce it... because that's the whole point of it.. BUT as long as they let you in after your allotted time if the ride was down for a good portion of that hour... OR make it two hours. - LaTruce  1670.4 #45 11:59AM
I kind of feel ripped off. I thought it was always enforced. A few times when I went past my set time I got rid of my fast pass. Of course, I didn't know about mousewait back then either. I actually still have some that are about 15 years old. - Philliprocks  277.4 #756 12:05PM
I'm not sure I understand how you feel ripped off, considering a Fast Pass is free with your Main Entrance ticket. Other parks you actually have to pay extra to have this opportunity. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 12:08PM
Your right! I've been enjoying fast passes for the longest time and they're one of the best inventions in the world. Thanks - Philliprocks  277.4 #756 12:20PM
I still haven't seen any answers on how this rule is going to work when the FP you get happens to be at a time the ride is shut down. Do you have to go get it initialed by a CM to show that your FP is good for a later time? This happened to me yesterday with space mountain and they let me on of course, but what about then? - courtneydax  13.9 #5862 12:13PM
Look up at some of the comments and you'll find your answer. - IDVandalSkipperCM  1299.0 #63 12:14PM
Well after its all said and done, hopefully by enforcing the time period it will help regulate the flow of the FastPass line, and by extension help the flow of the standby line as well. - NotNKansasAnymor  177.3 #1902 12:14PM
