(This picture has been posted before but it fits this post) My mother worked at Disneyland on Tom Sawyers Island and the Indian village in 1957/58. My father was in the army at the time. After her shift she would go to the Carnation Plaza and listen to the Elliott Brothers, DateNiters Orchestra and swing dance with some of the guys in the band. They would often ask her out on a date and she would decline and say that she was engaged to Billy. On their album there is a song called "The Billy Boy Bop" named after my dad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=CO&feature=related&hl=es-419&v=hpvXSSMUyts. Although I love the idea of the new improvments I will be sad to see this part of Disneyland become part of Disneyland history.

That is such a great story. I love the old pictures of how the park used to look as well. It's funny how in those times the dancing at Carnation was just a part of the Disney fun. Times change I guess. - Sharkgrrl19

What a great story. Thanks for sharing that little bit of your families life and Disney photo history. Sad that the CPG will be gone. So many memories of my Mom & Dad swing dancing there and listening to the old Big Bands that played there. I will look for some old photos of CPG. XD - splashphotoCM
