Greetings and Salutations fellow MW'ers...Happy Sunday to one and all...I was reading a book this morning when I found this...a ticket from Lilly Belle when it was rededicated on February 15, 2006...pretty cool...here are some Fun Facts about the Lilly Belle (taken from back of this ticket)...The Lilly Belle, a lavish VIP parlor car, had its first passengers on September 1975. Invited Guests would enjoy a trip around the park...The parlor car has been part of the Disneyland Railroad rolling stock since July 17, 1955 and it carried guests in its original configuration until 1974. After an extensive refurbishment, the Lilly Belle, named in tribute to Walt Disney's wife, made its debut in 1975 in anticipation of the U.S. bicentennial celebration...The Lilly Belle was retired to the roundhouse in 1998 until its most recent refurbishment-the most extensive to date, has returned the Lilly Belle to beyond its 1975 grandeur and elegance...The first dignitaries to enjoy the Lilly Belle were Emperor Hirohito and Empress Negako of Japan on October 8, 1975...The Lilly Belle was orginally called the Grand Canyon and ran the rails until 1974...The concept and decor for it was carefully planned with assistance by Walt Disney's wife, Lilly Disney...Walt had a great interest in the Victorian era, and as such, a strong Victorian theme resulted in the car's decoration-also complimenting his firehouse apartment :-)
