MW101 with SIC:: Today's Lesson is "How can I tell if the park is crowded?". The top photo is the dashboard of this app, tap the park you would like to visit and check the top part that is circled the the photo below, the 'MW Crowd Index' is usually a good indicator. But keep in mind that the MW Crowd Index is still very new and while it still gets it's feet on the ground, sometimes it's best to scroll down through the current wait times and check some of the Eticket times, such as Indy, Space, Matterhorn, Star Tours and so on, are all great indicators of how busy it is...and if you don't like what you see, check DCAs...hahaπ. I just want to say, you'd be surprised how many people aren't aware of some of the features MW offers. I talk with people all the time who never knew there was a lounge, and it's the 3rd button down. We can never assume people know about these things and just arent using them. I don't think there's any harm in posting tips people might not be aware of. Yes I'm aware that some days and circumstantis make the times and such not as accurate as others, but since the beginning of MW time we have had people who have spent countless hours of their time entering in wait times so that this app can be the most accurate out there, and I am aware that Unfortunatly the service has not been the best the past couple of weeks and that makes it hard to update times, we are working on fixing that round the clock! And it will be fixed. This info has been useful in the past and will be even more useful going forward as this app continues to get better and better by so many wonderful helpful contributors. ππ - Sweet_Irish_Cream

I think it's great that you took the time to submit this post. It's nice to see someone being positive about helping others use the app properly. Can I just say that have just spent 4 days on the park, that I did not find this info. to be completely accurate. The crowd index all week said 86/100 and Friday because of the winds it was REALLY slow that day compared to Wed-Thurs. I also found wait times were not correct. Just saying, don't give the ones that askk hell, it's a simple question. If your in the parks, you are probably a better gadge than techno gadgets. Just take a second and give them a simple answer. Don't worry about chewing me up and spitting me out. I'll go lay in my grave on my ownξ

Those that ask should know that the crowd index is a Prediction of years past...the weather plays a huge part in the crowds and again it is not predictable either...so even though it seems like a simple question and everyone wants a simple answer...nobody can predict the future..and also school calendars factor into crowds-here where I live they dont get out of school for winter break until this friday but an hour away that particular school district got out last week for winter break so no matter what it is a guessing game based on experience and trends ect - yellowtonka 237.7 #1136 3:03PM

We have people at the parks all the time who just walk around entering accurate wait times so that MW will have the most current times. They have put so many hours of time in giving people this info, the past week or so of unusual bad service shouldn't discount all the times it has been accurate. - Sweet_Irish_Cream 2550.5 #22 3:07PM
I don't ever look at the CI to be honest either. I know the crowd varies depending on a huge number of factors (weather, vacation, special events, etc). I do go 0_o when people ask questions, get chewed up and spat out though as well! I don't mind trying to help answer ?s bc I simply want to and not bc I have to. Although I've never been chastized for asking one, I feel bad when someone else is lol. I have found the wait times to be pretty accurate during Thanksgiving and so far for Christmas. I updated like crazy on the attractions we went on, most were spot on within a few minutes. Only exception was HM it was 30 minutes and a huge rush of guests came in changing it to 50 minutes when we got to the front. So feel free to help someone who is asking a question instead of trashing someone how posts or comments an alternative way of finding out the question. - splashphotoCM 880.9 #101 5:32PM
The crowd index is based on previous years, so you can't be sure what it will be like, it's just a starting point. I found wait times to be as accurate as the posted times in the parks yesterday. However, the posted times were off on at least potc and iasw when I went, which is not mw's fault. - bluefairy 627.1 #174 1:33PM

The crowd index DOES get updated throughout the day. It may start pi based on last year but it gets changed to a more accurate number. If you look at pictures people post live from the park you can also tell how crowded it is. Common sense is lacking these days. - Jimineycricket
