I have an innocent and simple question....why do people announce they are going to do a RAK rather than just doing it? I mean it is random right? Doesn't announcing you're going to do it before you do it kinda take the fun out of it? Just something to ponder...
Same reason people announce they are leaving before they leave...then come back - ThinkThinkThink

Random or not I think any kind of act of kindness is great! Everyone does RAKs differently and that's what makes them so fun!! : ) - TheGirlWhoHasEverything

I don't find anything wrong with people posting their plans...whether they go through with it or not. - MozPrincess

Normally yes, you don't announce a RAK. But it's different in the MW lounge. I think that's the way its been done since Dahulagirl started it. It's just a MW thing. - bagglady

Good point KissD! I think it's not a true RAK when the giver is telling people to comment "Add me please". I think something like this is more of a raffle than a random act of kindness. - jazmin21

People announce RAKs in the park so MWers can find them. - sr citizen space ranger

I love to give but can't give to everyone, so I have to do a RAK where you say add me so I can chose a person randomly. It is like a raffle, except I'm not taking money for tickets. - nittywitty

LOL Pinky, DFZ and hi iyuzmickey! my point is...RAKs are great and all but don't go saying "stay tuned for my RAK" instead keep it a secret and surprise us all with the RAK...be it locker, in park, or simple enter me. - KissDclown

I did because I was so excited about my little craft I made...but I don't have some things to finish the rest of them right now, but I couldn't wait till then to share that I want to give some away next week. So ya, I put the cart before the horse. - Sweet_Irish_Cream

I have personally announced my open in-lounge RAKs because 90% of my RAKs are my glass art and I have been working for hours (glass kiln firing takes about 12 hours each which doesn't include the details made) However most of mine have been surprises to the MWer when they arrive at their shipping address :) - CoralsReef

Pre-RAKs, RAKs, post-RAKs don't bother me. The only posts that bug me are the negative, regulatory, critical, sarcastic posts from anyone other than Admin. Thanks to everyone for all the RAKs you do! - jiminyclint

I agree with Evil and Jiminy! Anyone else think the complaining and questioning of RAK's needs to stop? - MiggyMouse
