Whenever I interview I look at how they shake my hand, no "fish" handshakes! Keep it strong and confidant! Don't use the word "uhm" and be energetic :) goodluck! - bellapistola

Smile, take a copy of your resume - in your case any personal recommendations and a list of accomplishments - even if just school related. Make sure you make eye contact and sit up straight. Turn your phone off - not silent - during the interview and you shake their hand with a firm grip - not to hard but not baby hands. And if you do all that remember to smile again and be yourself. If it's a group interview make sure you answer and even if what you were going to say was already said say it and try to make it sound like it was your original thought. Also doesn't matter what the job is dress professional and clean. No jeans, no piercings (unless you applying at hot topic) and pull your hair back so they can see your face. Good luck you can do this! - Smart.tea

Bring some questions you may have about the store/company because they'll probably ask at the end if you have any and it shows you have genuine interest. If you can print your resume on "real" resume paper, it will show you pay attention to detail. Bring a legal pad or folder, just something to write with and to keep your resume clean, plus a pen. Keep your makeup looking natural/professional - nothing over the top or too gaudy. Good luck! - Polkadobo

Smart's got it on the button with the dress code! But even I'm a Store Manager with Hot Topic, and I'm more impressed with the kids that come dressed up and can explain to me what their favorite bands are and how their everyday fashion will change to effect our store. If you're interviewing for anything retail, be prepared for customer service and loss prevention questions. (how to prevent theft and when is any type of borrowing from the store ok... Answer: never) :) - bellapistola

Dress good, be on time, don't chew gum and turn your phone OFF (not on vibrate!). Also, research the company online (good to print stuff - like the company history or mission statement - out and take it out during the interview) and make sure you have questions ready to ask at the end (Google some if you can't think of any - there are a lot of sites that will give you sample questions). - msdizmaui

Be polite. Thank you, etc. If you know you have any quirks when you're nervous, ex. talk too much, be aware and try not to. If by chance it's a scored interview, if they put their pens down and sit back in their chair it means you're talking too much. I think above all be respectful. Good luck! - Tom

Be polite and confident! Also, dress appropriately. I've had people come in dressed in baggy pants and wife beaters before. I don't do the interviews bur I'm the one that accepts the applications/resumes and if they are not dressed nicely, I make a note of that on their application and they don't even bother to look at the rest of it. - minniemommy

Smile, say please and thank you, don't overdo the makeup and just relax! And be sure to send out a thank you note to the interviewer right after. It makes a huge impression (even if it's a fast food place) - RocklinMousewife

Do not ask what starting pay is....and ask ur interviewer what they like about wring here....gets the pressure off you and it's a new question they probably dont get asked....get the address and send a Ty card or note to interviewer to thank them for taking time to meet with you...gives an extra touch and seeing your name again will imprint it in their brain :) - stitchgrl434
