On May 10th, till approximately 10 a.m., a portion of Main Street, U.S.A. will be blocked off for the window dedication preparation and ceremony of Disneyland costume designer Alice Davis. Some of you may have already noticed the new window next to her husband, Marc Davis', window between Disneyana and the Main St. Cinema.Alice Davis is best known for designing costumes for classic Disneyland Park attractions, including the production of 150 dolls in "it's a small world" and many Audio-Animatronic characters in Pirates of the Caribbean.

DCA News:: (Did a Little Mermaid search and didn't see a post on this yet) Two articles giving some interesting details into the revamp of the Little Mermaid ride (OC Register and MiceAge) It says it will close today for these changes, to such things as Dole Whip Ariel, animated projections and Kisss The Girl room---reopening Friday. Little disapointened that it doesnt look like the ending will change and that the fixes seem to be pretty minor. We'll see how it looks after the chanes. Interesting! Sounds like they will be putting some new graphics in the little scene where her fins turn to legs. I'm glad to hear that, I never thought that looked right, it doesn't look like Ariel! - LaneSparrow524

FANTASMIC AP SHOW UPDATE: I just got off the phone with guest relations and this is what I was told. The emails are being sent out to APs starting with Premier and Premium passes and then on to Deluxe and SoCal. If you have NOT received an email, do not panic! This event is open to ALL passholders (in good standing). You can call 714-781-4567 if you live 2+ hours away to register. Otherwise you need to go to the ticket booth. YOU DO NOT NEED THE EMAIL! Just make sure you RSVP and they will "check off" your AP number. You must check in starting at 12 noon on the day of the event to receive your wrist band. Again, this event is open to ALL APs regardless of if you received the email or not.
There's an update to the update.. DisneylandLive is reporting that originally this event was a random lottery (like the Star Tours preview), but it got out of hand. They opened it up to ALL APs thanks to all the calls about not receiving emails. Not too long ago they have stopped taking reservations over the phone for out of town'ers. So those of you who wish to RAK your extra tickets might be able to still. Sounds like this will fill up pretty quick! - CaliCanuck

This is so AWESOME...New Disneyland fun Show and interactive area at the festival of fools area and replacement stage for the magic music days...Starting May 3rd .Encompassing the former Festival Arena site, the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree will feature music, dancing, crafts, pin trading and plenty of Disney characters in their finest Western wear. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be throwing a good, old fashioned Hoedown, where you can kick up your heels with the likes of Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Chip ‘n Dale. From time to time, classic favorites like Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow, Clara Cluck or those silly Country Bears might even stop by! What’s more, Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree is also going to be the newest spot to catch visiting performing ensembles as part of Disney Performing Arts. Disney Performing Arts provides an opportunity for middle and high school students and community groups from across the country to perform in Disney Parks as well as take workshops taught by entertainment professionals to improve their performance skills. You’ll be able to enjoy some of these young instrumentalists, singers and dancers as they put on the performance of a lifetime onstage at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree.
Awesome! I was wondering what they were working on back there. - iFramedRogerRabbit

Tomorrow night (April 21) will be the second to last time to see the Jump, Jive, Boogie Swing Party at the historic Carnation Plaza Gardens featuring Stompy Jones. The last performance is on April 28 with Swingtown. It is sad to see this happen to such a historical place in the Park where so many legendary musicians have played and where so many memories have been made with families throughout the generations. My wife and I would always watch the dancers and the Big Bands play here when we were dating over 18 years ago and it has always been a special place to revisit and show our kids. Post your memories of Carnation Plaza here.
I hope to see everyone at my meet up here at 8:00 tomorrow!! I kind of have a lot of great memories here as I first learned to swing dance at Carnation back in the mid 90s!!! My first steps were taught over the little bridge that connects CPG and the Castle!! I made sooo many friends over the years here and I'm sti friends with most of them today!! I remember we would sometimes sprinkle baby powder on the dance floor to make it more slippery for us to dance on and the CMs would get very mad at us!! Our jam sessions back then were amazing and everyone would dress vintage!! This place holds many memories for my family as my Grandparent's would coming swing dancing here when they were young. They were sooo happy to see me following in their footsteps and dancing there. I am sooo sad to see this go :( The 28th is going to be an amazing moment for me here as a lot of my friends from then are coming to close this place down. I highly encourage you to come watch on the final night as it will be quite the scene and some of the great dancers will be there. - caramiapoohAKAface

Admin, Is there any chance of doing a live feed for tomorrow night and/or on the 28th? I know I had a few people that commented on my meet up for tomorrow night that they can't come because they're blocked out or they have to work or they live out of town and they wish that they could come. I'm sure they would love to see a live feed of mouse waiters and others dancing. I think a live feed on the final night would be awesome so that people could have a chance to see the final night at such historical part of Disneyland. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help!! Thanks!! - caramiapoohAKAface

My mother's first trip to DLand last Mothers Day 2009 was like tiring for her,,, so we passed by to this area and she is like dancing for 1 hour non-stop... And they forced me to dance also (i hate to dance in public so this place is my first public dance haha)... Hope the new Fantasyland Faire here will be awesome - otilegna

BREAKING DCA NEWS: Pixar Play Parade opens June 1st with one performance at 5 PM. June 2nd, there will be two showings at 2 and 5 PM. On June 8 there will be two more performances at 2 and 5. Pixar Play is the LONGEST parade in Disney history. It will start at Tower of Terror, make its way down Hollywood land, through BVS, up toward Paradise Pier (through the large pathway, passing by Cars Land) and ending at Paradise Garden Grill. Soundsational is a 24 minute parade, so Pixar might be 30-35 mins. FLOAT DETAILS: The floats have been shrunk in order to fit under the trolley wires. Boo will no longer be in the parade as a walking performer, but on top of the Monster's Float. Ratatouille has been scrapped. The bugs swinging unit has been shrunk dramatically and will only have 2-4 swingers. Lotso Huggin Bear has been replaced by Mr. Potato Head. Incredibles Float: Violet will be in her force field bubble and sitting on an omnidroid arm. Jack Jack will still sport the flame on his head, but will be on another arm of the omnidroid instead of on top. Lots of performers have been added to each float to make up for the changes. Water effects are still in play here. Lightning McQueen and Mater will make a reappearance and will be the tail end of the parade. Over 1000 people auditioned for the Parade and 150 made it.

Just a friendly reminder that now through Thursday, AP holder previews will be held in Stage 17 of Disney California Adventure. This is a great opportunity to see and purchase some of the new merchandise and sample some of the new food items that will be available in the new Cars Land and Buena Vista Street. Previews will be held starting at 10am and will run until 8pm.
I am sorry... Need more info..., do ap holders need to RSVP or am I to expect huge crowds. I guess it will be huge crowds either way. Thanks! - verofern

#DCAnews Pixar Play Parade may return as soon as 2 weeks before Carsland opening and the rehearsals begin April 19th. Buena Vista Street is way behind schedule and has the potential to open after June 15th. Carsland walls may not come down until June 15th. Cast Previews may not be happening for Carsland... which will domino effect into AP previews being cancelled, potentially. Chocolate factory is due to open June 15th. For Disneyland: Matterhorn is slated to return June 15th.
#NEWS- Grad Night 2012- So many MWers are asking and planning their visit around the time Disneyland hosts Grad Night. This year, DL is hosting not five, not ten, but twenty, yes 20, Grad Nights this year. The dates of the Grad Nights will be held on mostly Wednesday and Thursday nights/mornings (with a couple Tuesdays and Fridays) between the dates of May 10-June 22. But most importantly, this year, Grad Nights will be held a little different. Instead of completely closing the park and having an all night party, the Grads will be able to enter the park during the normal park operating hours of DL and DCA. They will all have a wristband (similar to Mickey's Halloween Party) and will be allowed to stay in the park until 3am. At park closing (I'm guessing 8pm/9pm/10pm), the regular day guests will have to leave the park like a normal day. Hope this helps anyone planning their next visit! (This post will be updated when more information is announced)
Wow, I'm glad that my friend and I are going on the 5th. We are graduating this year too, but our school has our grad night at some wave house thingy. And the 5th is our "personal use day" so we are just celebrating then :D. It really stinks about letting them in during normal park hours tho :-/ some teens can just act terrible :-/ i've seen ppl like that at my high school - Suikas
