Such a horrible day. As a New Yorker, the thought of this day makes me weep. I remember waking up that morning, turning in the tv, and instantly falling to the floor. The world around me stopped as I watched the horror, praying that my family was safe, and also having my heart break for all those who were suffering at that moment. Thank you for this post. It's always good to remember those we have lost, those that helped, and those that prayed for a better day. - DarthTinkerbell  1668.6 #127 2:43PM

Hi! I think the addition of the water feature, underneath, makes it feel grounded and like it belongs and is there to stay. I love ToT! πŸ’– Such a fun read and neat to see the opening ceremony with the fireworks and lightening effects!  I just love the feel of Old Hollywood. ✨😍Haven't been on any other versions, but would love to do so. I'm definitely hopeful that the Guardians of the Galaxy change is just a rumor--I honestly don't think there's much truth to that idea since ToT is such a cornerstone for DCA and the Old  Hollywood theme is classic CA, and the ride is beloved and iconic in the park ...  I just feel like it would be like taking the Matterhorn and making it into a Star Wars or Lone Ranger ride...doesn't make any sense to me πŸ˜‚ but I do suppose anything is possible?  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  718.7 #335 8:35AM

Hi! πŸ‘‹πŸΌ. I've always enjoyed that very haunting music, while waiting in queue. It's just works to make it feel creepier. I also like, in this instance, how the palm trees are not manicured and look as if they've been abandoned. What a fabulous opening with Mrs Serling! Great special effects with the fireworks! For years I wanted nothing to do with this attraction, thank goodness Mr. talked us Churros into it- it's now a family favorite. I've never been to any other DL resort. This ride is nothing less than perfection! Although, I will admit I really miss Paul Frees' dialogue when you go through the cove that takes you from the past to the present. I miss it every time..."No fear have ye of evil curses says you, Ayyyyeee....   properly warned ye be says I...   who knows when that evil curse will strike the greedy beholders of this bewitched treasure!"(Old ghost's voice)   "Perhaps he knows too much...   he's seen the cur-sed treasure...   he knows where it be hiding? Now proceed at your own risk...  ye may not survive to pass this way again!"I swear, I hear it in my head every time we sail through that cove and I would love for it to return someday, even just temporarily!☺️ - Nala  389.1 #673 9:24AM
Oops, just realized I made a mistake while recalling it...  It's "he knows where it be hidden" :) - Nala  389.1 #673 11:02AM

This ride with s my favorite too. As a young kid I only got to go to DL once. My parents bought me one of those 3D viewers with the POTC pictures. I used to look at those pics a lot wishing I could go back and experience it again. As an adult I'm making up for lost time 😜 - Tom  17730.4 #4 10:39AM

My first visit to DCA was in 2012 so I sadly missed all the good stuff.πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚I am always facinated with old pics from DCA and any info of its short history. Seems like it has come along way. Thanks for posting as I know how precious your time is so I am sending you a 15th anniversary button as our way of saying thank you for this memorable look back. - RadiatorSprings4Ever  3838.8 #48 11:22AM
Lady! 😱You're just the sweetest!  Bless you for being so thoughtful! Thank you! You're right, it sure has come a long way. I'm so relieved! πŸ˜‚ - Duchess_SMK  6634.7 #24 12:16PM
Thank you, this is awesome!Β I especially love the original map, I'd never been to DCA until just before Carsland opened, so this is really fun to see! - SassafrasDavis  1033.8 #226 8:53AM

I can tell you put a lot of thought into this post, I love it! Makes me miss your Disney history posts, they were one of my favorite parts of MW, this is a sweet little refresher πŸ’› - SassafrasDavis  1033.8 #226 8:58AM
Thanks again!! So sweet! They are a labor of love but now that I'm homeschooling more than one, my free time is basically non existent. πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ I'll do my best to make them as often as possible! Thanks for the encouragement! 😘!Β  - Duchess_SMK  6634.7 #24 9:06AM
So we're in the same spot! Homeschooling a 6th and 3rd plus a 3 year old were a few of my reasons for being a MW phantom for awhile! Please feel free to DM me if you ever want to bounce ideas (or need to blow off steam πŸ˜‚) about homeschool life! 😘😘😘 - SassafrasDavis  1033.8 #226 9:18AM

I never walked around DCA until all the boards were up. I wonder why so many didn't take to it until they upgraded but I always thought it just didn't go well with Californians to buy two tickets to two parks at the same resort. I expect the same excitement on here like there was for Carsland for starwarsland. Hope they have a red carpet or something! And AP days! . (We did try to look at the beginnings of Star Wars land last night but it was too dark, lol)! I know there's room for improvement still and can't wait to see what they do there!! - secretagentangel  15093.3 #7 8:51PM

Was that one of the houses we saw in the 10th anniversary movie when Walt was pacing out the park? - Taunton  3235.6 #56 7:16PM
It very well may be. The Popes chose this house to live in when they were removing homes in the orange groves where Disneyland was built. It sat behind Big Thunder Ranch.  - breathe_in_the_happiness  1243.2 #173 7:47PM
