Never rode Superstar Limo but I saw the ride through and it was horrible πŸ˜‚ this is much better. Monsters Inc is my favorite Pixar film and I was hoping that whole area (from near the old arcade to Muppets Theatre) would eventually be Monstropolous but of course... Just wishful thinking - missmimi90  1599.1 #87 2:14PM
I agree with you about superstar limo! LOL What's your favorite part about the attraction missmimi90? And BTW I think Monstropolous would be a FUN addition! ;) - Duchess_SMK  5819.1 #14 2:35PM
Either the Sushi room because I LOVEEE the ginger smell or the door room.  - missmimi90  1599.1 #87 2:37PM
When my son was small he was afraid of most rides and made us ride Superstar Limo with him over and over. He owes me big time.  - Bo22  385.2 #522 4:39PM

I have only seen that scary vid of the former attraction. Crazy that it sat empty for 4 years! Wow! I enjoy this attraction. I think they did a great job with it and nice that they brought Disney/Pixar to DCA. My fav is def Roz at the end and her commentsπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  4705.4 #20 2:43PM

Hi love! So sorry for the late reply! My mom fell and broke her ankle yesterday and is in the hospital waiting for surgery so I've been distracted by that and the kiddos! I miss y'all too!  I'm so glad you liked the post. I just new you'd say Roz! She's my favorite too! πŸ‘― - Duchess_SMK  5819.1 #14 10:04AM
I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. I hope she heals quickly and painlessly. I love Roz too. She's sassy!  - LaPearleNoir  1303.9 #106 10:21AM
Oh no! So sorry about your mom SMK! And Churro-I'm glad this attraction replaced it-but the limo ride was so hilariously cheesy I'm glad I got to ride it!!!!πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - TinkerSchelle  1259.0 #110 10:31AM
I rode SuperStar Limo too when Ca adventure first opened. The only thing I remember are all the cheesy stars that kids probably didn't know who they were.  The ride was the worst idea. I also remember there was like a "backstage" around the area with a trailer and directors chairs for photo op.  - MickeyEyeAdore  18.4 #6829 1:24AM
lol, only lasting 11 months is a sign that it was indeed awful. πŸ˜‚ - Duchess_SMK  5819.1 #14 10:05AM
At the daily opening of the ride they use to have a screaming contest, I don't remember if it was kids only. I think the power meter was used?  A few guests were picked for the scream off. The winner got a certificate that allowed them Front of Line privileges?  Sorry my memory is so fuzzy but they did do this I swear!  I want to say for a year or two. I love this ride, it's so well done, no "slow" spots. When I first saw MI during the door chasing scene I thought "this would be a great ride".  I was so happy to see this scene in the ride! - PrincessDuckie  755.6 #215 6:22AM

The Dominguez family tree and window on Main Street USA. A promise kept! The tree is a Canary Island Date Palm planted in 1896 as a wedding gift. The Dominguez family owned 10 acres that is now the Pirates area.

The eucalyptus  trees in the back of jungle are from the original  lands too. They said Walt was going to save more trees and came to the site one day and someone cut down more than he wanted. So he went out and got more. when DCA was being built they asked in our local paper for people to donate full grown trees to Disney ( I believe they were paid for them too). - secretagentangel  1325.8 #105 1:22PM
I didn't know any of that, that's great info!! - adisneyfamily  837.0 #189 2:04PM
Not sure if they put plaques on the first DCA trees, though I doubt it. When they first brought them from people's homes they were in big wood containers but I think not all of them made the transplant well and died.  :( you used to be able to go to a place and buy the used Disneyland plants, (they replace littles constantly) but I was told they donate all now. There is a tour based on the plants of DL but not sure how often they do it.  - secretagentangel  1325.8 #105 2:52PM
Yes! I remember that video on Main St during the 50th anniversary with Steve Martin where Abraham Lincoln is now, talking about how Walt tied ribbons around the trees he wanted to keep/take down and they were green/red but the person operating the bull dozer was colorblind and cut all of them down! - SarahLovesDisney  82.2 #3691 3:05AM

Thank you for this Duchess! This is a big deal for me. I don't talk about why I love ariel and the little mermaid too often because I don't like to be all sappy--but this movie was one of the main things my mom and I bonded over. She really influenced and fostered my love of the ocean when I was a child and continued to do so until she passed away in 2001. This movie is more than just a movie to me, as crazy as it sounds-and every time I watch it I am overcome with good feelings and great memories of my mom that will last a lifetime. I only hope to one day pass down my love of the sea and of this movie to my children as it is so so very special to me. THANK YOU 😘😘 - missariel33  1751.2 #76 4:41PM

What a great history post! The ads for the Post are great! Love the pan, Spud ciggies- (what a name, you would think they were made from potatoes😜) and I think I liked the Rambler car the bestπŸ˜‚.  I watched the video- Alyssa Milano is soo young there. Loved watching the interview with Pat Carroll and hearing what influenced her to make Ursula's voice.  Interesting at one point Ursula says, "In my day, we had fantastical feasts, when I lived in the palace." I looked that up and apparently Disney played around with Triton and Ursula as siblings, which would make sense, that she was banished from the kingdom she would try to do what she could to get back at him. My favorite part about The Little Mermaid are the scenes with Ursula πŸ’œπŸ’šπŸ’š, but you probably already know thatπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. I am looking very forward to going on this attraction again😱😱😍😍😍. Such a historic day! I remember hearing that when Fantasia was in theaters, there were only a few that could show it because it the studios built a special audio set up for the film, thus, could only show it in a few theaters at once. Also, did you know that the final product of Toy Story 2 was all done in about 3 weeks of production? If you watch the Pixar Story documentary, they were having a really hard time with a script and any character development while introducing new characters at the same time (Bullseye, Jessie, etc.). After watching it, a lot of people felt like the story still wasn't complete enough and felt like there was something missing, thus, a third film was made.  - BaseballMickey_CM  6545.0 #11 10:43AM

Thank you for another wonderful post! Hope you get some rest! When the attraction opened in the 80's, it was a big deal. I remember the toys and shirts. I think it is time to move on. We caught the Guardians of the Galaxy preview and enjoyed it. I am not sure what will happen.😏 - RadiatorSprings4Ever  944.9 #167 12:35AM
Thank YOU! Rest, what's that? lol Awe, I can appreciate your point. Guess we'll all see soon! - Duchess_SMK  5819.1 #14 10:45PM
Perhaps it's time to revamp all of tomorrowland.  Seriously, it is now yesterdayland (1986!) perhaps a makeover to the tomorrow of 2061.  Just a thought - wildtoad  16.6 #7184 1:59PM
I love this show for life. I don't care how cheesy and outdated it is. I listen to music on my car, I've learned some dance moves before and plan to one day wear my Disneybound outfit for this one. I personally think bringing it back when there's no other movie preview would be just fine.  - adventurerEnDisneylandia {AED}  734.9 #222 9:59PM

Wonderful post. We are trying to explain what this day means to the kids. The oldest has seen footage from that day and I have shown him the magazines and newspapers that I had saved. We explain that this is why it is so important that we support our troops. They are fighting for us so that this kind of tragedy will never happen on USA soil. - RadiatorSprings4Ever  944.9 #167 8:15AM
That's great you've saved newspaper articles and such. What a great thing to teach your boys about. Supporting the troops is indeed of the upmost importance! Thanks for sharing!  - Duchess_SMK  5819.1 #14 8:39AM
Thanks for the great post. Today is one of the most tragic days in history. I'll never forget those lives that were lost today. Please make sure that everyone tells their loved ones how much they love them. And also, please be kind to everyone today. Not just today, but everyday. I know it can be hard, but today of all days. Lets love one another. Thanks& GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ - Superspacemountainfan  82.8 #3684 7:14AM

i went to new york that october to show my support and i wasnt going to be scared to travel, my friend and i met so many young men that were put there to help out the firemen and police it was an honor to buy them a few rounds and see the spirit of country would not be destroyed by cowards! - draven898  577.0 #310 1:52AM

I'm trying to figure it out , too.  We went Labor Day of 1955 and again in 1961?  My Dad keeps his old pictures in cardboard boxes, loose.  I was hoping someone might be able to guess. The ones with fake raggedy edges I know are from  1955. Then I have some square and some rectangular ones that could be either trip - DeneciePie  327.5 #683 9:16PM

I had not seen either of these Disney shorts, but I did watch the "Truth About Mother Goose". College already wiped out my childhood memories of fairy tales. Anyone read the original Cinderella by the brothers Grimm😬. I did not know the Mary from this fairy tale was Mary Queen of Scots. She didn't live happily ever after. 😡. We used to ride Dumbo when the churros were little. Maybe it's time to ride again an get an elephant's eye view of Disneyland. Neat to see the video of how it evolved. The longest we've probably wait it is 20 minutes. Do they still give out the feather? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  4705.4 #20 6:57AM
They do still hand out feathers (with little bite marks all over them πŸ˜‚) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  563.6 #316 7:14AM
I think it depends on who's working because when we rode last trip they didn't hand out feathers. πŸ˜” my kiddos were bummed. Great views up there!  - Duchess_SMK  5819.1 #14 8:02AM
