Leo Harris (Oregon's athletic director at the time) was friends with a Disney animator who introduced him to Walt. They made an informal agreement that allowed the school to use Donald Duck as the mascot. When this was challenged by the Walt Disney Co. in the 1970s, the photos of Walt wearing this jacket were presented as evidence of his approval, and a formal licensing agreement was signed.
