Total MULLYGRUB day again! 2 employees called in sick - got yelled at by a family of druggies, had a dentist appointment and to top it off, got a notice that the discrimination thing has been filed with the EEOC (remember that?!? it never went away, but did get weirder!). Longing for the days when Calgon could take me away.......
What?!? That's crazy. You had quite the day. You need a Disneyland fix for sure. I'm sorry you had such an awful day. Hugs. - Mrs.mouse

Just made my final payment for our August trip to DL - $2295 for 5 nights at the Grand seems a little ridiculous even to me (and that's not including our new APs and airfare!). Muy expensiveoso! Thank goodness for tax refunds!
You'll have a great time. - Mrs.mouse
426.1 #304 2:46PM
New APs! Yay! That'll be so much fun! We have stayed at the Grand twice. I love it sooooo much, but I'm not sure we will get to stay there for awhile. I need to win the lotto soon, lol. - Spoonful_O_Sugar
439.2 #288 3:28PM
I've always bought the package with a 5 or 6 day Park Hopper...what a doofus! Buying the APs comes out to be the same price, and even if I don't go until next year, they'll cover the park for at least 2 trips (as long as I go a week earlier in '14!). Why didn't I think of this years ago!?! - msdizmaui 521.6 #226 12:48AM
Wow! What a luxury, though. I hope you have a ridiculously good time. I have dreams of staying there one day. - D55CR
245.7 #1069 4:40PM
It's crazy expensive, but hanging out at the hotel is as much the trip for us as going to the parks! Never would have stayed there when the kids were little, but now I think I deserve it!

I'm in such a "funk". No other way to put it. I SOOO need a Disney fix!
I hear you. I feel the same way. Hugs. - Mrs.mouse
426.1 #304 4:19PM
Right back at you! :) - msdizmaui 521.6 #226 5:30PM
Aw, sorry to hear! I was feeling that way for awhile, too. I'm always so jealous of the people who can just drop by the parks after work. It must really improve your quality of life! I usually just end up at Sephora or the Gap or something. Sometimes, I just have to settle for a Starbucks and InStyle magazine, lol. Not exactly the Disney magic I want after a bad day. Big hug to you! - Spoonful_O_Sugar
439.2 #288 6:08PM
And I'm jealous of not only people who can stop by the parks, but people who can stop by Sephora or Gap (there's a small Sephora on one side of the island, and a Gap on the other - neither of which is on my side!). I just go online and shop...I'm turning into a hermit! - msdizmaui 521.6 #226 8:15PM
I understand--I lived on the Big Island for awhile (before they even had a Target in Kona, lol)! And now, my mall is an hour away from my house, and 20 minutes away from my work, so I definitely think twice about going there--it has to be a really miserable day! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 8:38PM
Awww.....we all have those days. My grandma used to say you have the "mullygrubs". (My grandma was infamous for making up her own words. haha) Hope you find some sunshine in your day. Put some Disney music on...maybe that will help. - D55CR
245.7 #1069 8:35AM
MULLYGRUBS!!!! I love that! It made me smile (which is I'm sure what your grandma had in mind). From now on, my "funk" is officially a case of the MULLYGRUBS! - msdizmaui 521.6 #226 2:23PM
Ha! Love it! It can turn your day around just by saying "mullygrubs" out loud because its so silly! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 3:30PM
Your grandma was awesome. That's so funny. I love made up words like that. - Mrs.mouse 426.1 #304 9:43PM

Training for my 1/2 marathon is going well. I ran 4.9 miles this weekend, and actually felt pretty good the rest of the day. I'm actually looking forward to my next run.
Good for you! I'm trying to "run" as much as I walk (at night with the doggy), but I swear I get out of breath so easily! I can only go probably 1/4 mile before I have to stop and walk for awhile. I'm not sure if I even want to put out the effort... - msdizmaui
521.6 #226 3:57PM
It sounds like you are putting in an effort. Keep it up. - Mrs.mouse 426.1 #304 4:20PM
Have you tried Jeff Galloway's method? His training programs use a run/walk/run method. That is the ONLY way I can make that distance. I run for 1 min, then walk for 1 min. But to start out I could only run about 20 seconds. You should check him out. - D55CR 245.7 #1069 8:38AM
I will...thanks (and the 1 min thing kind of works with my dog's sniffing habits!) - msdizmaui 521.6 #226 2:21PM
I use a run/walk method, too. It makes it manageable and protects you from injuries. If it helps, I didn't run much this winter and when I started jogging again (6 weeks ago), I had a hard time running more than a couple of minutes or so. The other day, I was able to run 3 miles without walking. It really doesn't take all that long to build endurance--you just have to push through the first few weeks. I try to repeat "mind over matter" to the rhythm of my steps, making little, tiny goals as I go. Sometimes, my goal is just to make it to the crack in the sidewalk that's ten steps away, then I say, "OK, now my goal is that driveway 5 steps away!" Lol! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 3:35PM
Good for you. You are making so much progress. - Mrs.mouse
426.1 #304 4:20PM
Thanks. It feels good so far. I'm pretty warn out by the end, but I am supposed to increase my distance gradually, so I'm hoping it still feels this good when I'm running the full half marathon. - D55CR 245.7 #1069 8:39AM
Yay! That's great--it's so nice when it "clicks"--I'm falling into a nice training rhythm, too. For awhile, I was ravenous after my runs, but now my appetite is settling down, thank goodness! - Spoonful_O_Sugar

My daughter is a personal trainer and she started me on an eating plan as part of my training. At first I was having trouble eating that much food, but not it is getting easier. I'm pretty much a vegetarian, but I eat some fish. She has me eating high protein and it's hard to get enough without eating meat. I'm doing protein shakes which helps. - D55CR 245.7 #1069 8:42AM

Making my favorite casserole for my son and worried that I'll want to eat it all! The solution...use ground beef instead of turkey (I haven't eaten red meat for 20+ years!). Temptation gone! (I wish it was that easy with desserts and snacks!).
Brilliant idea! Let me know if you come with anything for the desserts and snacks. haha - D55CR

Wednesday's goal! Please share your goals to make it through today. My goal is to get some exercise in.
My goal is to drink two green smoothies. I had one earlier, and I think I'll try to sub a smoothie for dessert tonight. There, I posted it--now I have to do it! - Spoonful_O_Sugar
439.2 #288 12:23PM
What's a green smoothie? I'm sure it has to be good for you if it's a goal. - Sugarbuzz 55.5 #3699 8:24PM
A green smoothie is just basically a fruit/veggie smoothie made with leafy greens. There are tons of different recipes out there, but my current favorite is a mixture of kale and spinach with pineapple and tangerines. I add a little water and blend it up! You can add yogurt, almond milk, protein powder, etc. Green smoothies are great once you get past the color, lol! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 9:02PM
Same...same.... Just exercise. Which I did a 3.87 mile hike today. That's a to total of 16 miles since Monday. Tomorrow is a 6-7 mile. - Sugarbuzz

That's great. It makes my walk seem short. - Mrs.mouse 426.1 #304 9:46PM
If you are ever in SLO, DM me and we will go for a hike. It really isn't so bad because the environment is so gorgeous. Time seems to pass quickly, even with a 18-20 min pace. Had a red fox follow us yesterday. We were stirring up the squirrels, and he was hunting. - Sugarbuzz 55.5 #3699 2:04PM

I'm sorry I have been missing for a while. Life has gotten crazy...Mom is now in hospice care, and we are in the midst of moving my elderly in-laws here from Arizona. But I wanted to pop in because I've missed the wonderful encouragement and support of my Chub33 pals! Hope you are all doing well.
On a more positive note, I am training to run the half marathon at WDW in January! The training is gi More...
p.s. My personal trainer has me on a strict new diet for this training, and after the first week I GAINED 2lbs. But she's told me to hang in there and I'll start seeing it go down. I sure hope she is right! - D55CR

She's right--it's hard to see the scale go up at first, but that's often the way it works with athletic training. It will come off! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 5:08PM
So sorry to hear about your struggles--my husband's step dad passed away recently and hospice care was really wonderful for the family. Such a tough situation, but they really do help emotionally and physically. Glad to hear that you've got a distraction and goal! Wow--WDW should be so much fun! I've never been out there! The race will be fantastic! It's nice to have something to look forward to :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar

Yes it is nice. I was invited to run with my corporate team for Team in Training (to benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). I'm really excited and really nervous. The fundraising is keeping me busy, too. Not sure how I'm going to do this, but I'm giving it all I've got. :) - D55CR 245.7 #1069 5:19PM
Sorry to hear about Mom. I'm glad that you have Hospice to help. I was on the Maui Hospice's Board for 8 years...I think they do such great work. My Mom is about the same but not really talking anymore. I'm going through a rough time trying to realize that there's nothing I can do to "fix" the situation. It just makes me so sad... Oh...great news with the training! I envy you! My boss did the WDW 1/2 marathon this year. She loved it! - msdizmaui

I'm sorry about your Mom, too. It is frustrating when you can't do anything to help them. All we can do is be there with them while we have them here. - D55CR 245.7 #1069 2:47PM
How is your Mom? - Mrs.mouse

Hello...hello.... It has been a long time since I have posted. Been doing ok at this whole exercise thing. My goal is to really just have a healthier heart and bones. If weight loss comes with it, I'm ok with that. I just need to be around a while. I have the luxury of having a ton of hiking trails where I live, so hiking 2.5-5.5 miles 3 to 4 times a week. Hi everybody! Happy Saturday!! So, I went back to the doctor yesterday because my toe isn't better. Turns out it is fractured. The first doctor misread the x-ray....grrrrrr! So no running for 4 to six more weeks. I'm feeling rather lost over not being able to run. I'm going to try the eliptical this morning and see how that goes.
I'm sorry to hear about your toe. I imagine its very frustrating. Most people would take this as an opportunity to not work out for 4-6 weeks. You aren't doing that. That is something to be proud of! - Mrs.mouse
426.1 #304 10:57AM
Oh dear. So sorry to hear. Running is so addicting, but sometimes situations like these are nature's way of helping us to refocus. There are lots of options: cycling, swimming, yoga, Pilates, etc. You've got an open mind: maybe there's a new activity out there that will bring you just as much joy--who knows, you might even make some new friends in a yoga class or by trying out a Master's swim class or something! The good news is that you have the desire and motivation to stay active. You'll be back to your old self in no time! :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar

Wow not good - the doctor misread the X-ray? Hope your toe is healing ok. Ar you allowed to bear weight or walk on it? - Plumiegirl

The first doctor didn't see the fracture and told me it was just a bruise. When it was still swollen and tender 3 weeks out, I went back to my personal physician. She saw the fracture. I can walk but no running. It's buddy taped and I have a shoe to keep it from bending toouch. - vernswifevickie 374.1 #378 1:10PM
