I am happy to report that I am once again gainfully employed!  I start my new position with Wyndham Vacation Ownership on Wednesday (no, I'm not selling timeshare...I'll be doing the contracts and closing the deals).  A cool benefit is that there are offices everywhere...including Anaheim and San Diego!

I've had a great 10 days. I lost the 2 pounds I gained on the girls cruise (worth it) and lost an additional 1.4 pounds. I'm only 6.6 pounds away from a big milestone, 30 pounds. I'm only 4 pounds away from being the lightest I've been in almost 4 years.

Oh ladies....I've had nothing but sad news since I returned from DLR.  My cousin, who's the same age as me passed away unexpectedly on Friday after a short battle with internal melanoma.  Then yesterday, our Veterinarian called and let me know that a small tumor that they removed (while he was boarded) turned out to be melanoma!  I need some cyber hugs and pixie dust...

Yeah, you really have to plan ahead for the races.  It took us 5 years to get it together for the one last year, lol.  There are other ways, though.  My husband found a travel agent from another message board who had some 10K bibs for Tink, and we bought those in December, months after that race had sold out on RunDisney.  You can also sign up through a charity group, too.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  527.3 #336 11:26AM

Has anyone ever heard of or tried the Paleo diet?  It seems good, only I don't cook so I'm not sure how I'd do on it.  Anyone have any luck with it?

I've looked into it--it seems like the basic premise makes sense to me (eat clean foods and avoid processed, sugary, refined stuff because we aren't evolutionarily adapted to handle the Standard American Diet).  I'd say my husband and I eat "Paleoish" pretty often, and I do feel better when I reduce the junk.  I am reluctant to fully follow any diet 100% though.  It did look like a lot of food prep to me, but I think you can follow the diet without having to constantly make full meals.  It's an interesting concept--maybe ask your doctor what he/she thinks?  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  527.3 #336 8:07AM
I was thinking the same as you.  Pretty much common sense.  But following it to the letter long-term would be very difficult, if not impossible I think.  No breads or pasta ever?  I have friends who just started on it.  Not thinking that it'll last, but as long as they just give up processed foods, sugar and all the dairy, they'll probably lose a lot.  I'm now planning on staying with Jenny until the end of the year.  Not 3 meals a day, but at least a presence.  That's what I never did in the past.  I'd hit my goal and then stop cold turkey! - msdizmaui  623.1 #272 2:52PM
Yeah, I agree.  Eating clean and balanced meals most, but not 100%, of the time works best for me.  I mean, my favorite chain restaurant is the Olive Garden, lol 😂 There's no way I could just give up all my favorite foods forever unless I had a health issue that made it necessary or I was an actress getting paid millions to look a certain way.  Glad that Jenny is working well and that you decided to stay with it for maintenance purposes.  I think that's a really good idea!   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  527.3 #336 3:50PM
Hi ladies! You can say I follow a paleo diet. I'm 7 months of no bread, pasta, sugar and dairy. I love it. I think sugar was the hardest. You have withdraw and act like a huge b****. It's true! Pasta wasn't as hard as I thought. I use to have pasta 4-5 times a week so yes it was a bit tough at first but I think if you think long term it's totally worth it. My love handles are gone. If you do some research you find that pasta and bread stick to midsection and that can be very dangerous. Once in awhile I'll eat tortillas but it's rare. What I did is I have 1/2 cup of brown rice. Not everyday but sometime. If you love pasta which I do, I found brown rice pasta. It's seriously delicious or as I've seen I want to buy spinach pssta👍. Dairy wasn't tough either. I love the food I eat. It really changes your perspective of food. Before I'd eat for the great flavor but had ton of fat that isn't good for your body. I eat to give my body energy and treat myself on the weekend with one something  yummy like pasta at a resturaunt or sushi and ond treat. I look forward to it. I see it as work hard on the weekday and have fun on the weekend. My belly fat has gone down too. I do eat Greek yogurt for that (the only dairy) and drink lots of green tea. Sounds like you've got it down!  My friend is experimenting with Almond flour (to bread things) and already is into the spaghetti squash and zucchini "pasta".  I like the idea of a treat day.  I'll probably go back to that (and I find that when you're good all week, you really don't want to "blow" it like you thought that you would).  Only drawback to Paleo for me...I don't cook!  Although I guess that I could live on roasted veggies (which I LOVE) and ground turkey patties!   - msdizmaui  623.1 #272 2:45PM
You sound like my husband and I!  Haha, we do pretty much the same things, but occasionally go out to eat or have a treat.  Bread is hard to give up completely, but we don't eat much of it any more.  We buy only Greek yogurt, no cow milk, etc.  We do eat string cheese and feta occasionally, though, and occasionally, I get cream for coffee (though I really shouldn't).  We are very strict during Lent (no alcohol, sugar, or white starches), but relax a little more during the year.  You are so disciplined!  I feel great during Lent, and always consider sticking to it for longer, but I eventually cave, lol 😂  I figure I do a good job 95% of the time, and that other 5% does make me happy.  Someday I might get more strict.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  527.3 #336 5:15PM

Super frustrating day! I was supposed to do a 10 mile run, and I just wasn't feeling it, pretty much from the word "go." Maybe it was just the thought of a double digit run, lol. Just the first quarter mile felt like a struggle--my body felt like lead! But I pushed through, for the next few miles. Yes, it is--at least we both got out there and did something, even if it wasn't all that we had planned!  Man, I don't think I've ever been stung by a wasp and it's been at least a decade and a half since I've had a bee sting...they HURT!  My leg is sore tonight!  I'm glad I decided to head home because I might have ended up with a swollen leg or some weird reaction if I had tried to run another four miles. I'm sorry you had a bad time. What works for me is to take each mile at a time. So instead of thinking of the whole run in your mind, tell yourself you can do the first mile and focus fully on that mile. Then do the same for each additional mile. I'm on new medication. It seems to be helping. I'm feeling better. As a bonus I lost 2 more pounds. My doctor is really happy with my loss. Thank you all for your support. It means the world to me.
